If we’re talking, like, 1997-2000 era DVDs, sure. There was no excuse for that shit in 2006.
I know that there was no excuse for it. I’m just saying that that kind of laziness wasn’t uncommon. It’s actually still somewhat common with blu-rays, although non-anamorphic is a thing of the past.
I got a 13 dollar copy of the Seven Samurai Criterion blu-ray. Can’t wait to watch it.
If you own the 2006 GOUT DVD, though, you’re for sure in the clear to get GOUT-based projects like Dark_Jedi’s anamorphic cleanups and HD upscales.
Assuming he has the GOUT, but he’d have to buy the 2006 SEs to get the 2006 GOUT that comes with it.
Can confirm though, that GOUT upscales really are pretty good experiences.
As disappointing as the GOUT DVDs were, they actually aren’t terrible compared to some other DVDs of the time. There were DVDs, like Home Alone, that were non-anamorphic and looked even worse than the GOUT.
I don’t think that the positives from believing in something without evidence are worth it.

I was actually referring to the drug laws. I should’ve been more specific. Is it really conspiratorial to say that the reason private prisons lobby for harsher drug laws is because they have a financial interest in keeping as many people in prison as possible?

My statement was an exaggeration. As was yours, it seems.
Mine wasn’t an exaggeration. I said “non-violent” when I should’ve specified drug laws, which are largely non-violent and victimless. Our drug laws are obviously in place to imprison nonviolent people for the profit of others.

You can’t. Tis a joke. The most any human can stay awake is about 11 days, and the effects of attempting to go this long can be life-threatening, and if it doesn’t kill you, it can cause permanent physiological damage.

My mood goes back and forth, but I definitely don’t recall a time where I was interested in living.
Isn’t the main issue that they can’t be forced to work for a private company?
I don’t have a big problem with it as long at it is only done with convicted prisoners, and done humanely and under reasonable and fair conditions and the 8th amendment is applied properly.

Prison labor is slavery, so I’m in favor of outlawing that, but I don’t think that “abolishing” the amendment that prohibited slavery by and large is a good idea.
