As far as I know (which isn't a lot) they aren't available as a torrent yet.

Rikter has said that he will upload the Magnoliafan edits when he gets a chance. I am psyched to watch them, considering all of the changes that I've read on here, especially the Jar Jar Binks stuff.

Actually I think the arena scene in ATOC could've been done more in reality...Gladiator did not look cartoony and they did a huge arena with some CG and models and real locations. Aliens I had mentioned before as well with awesome models/modest effects that worked. Troy looked cool with all of the ships sailing towards Troy despite being CG. CG can improve a scene if not done beyond looking somewhat realistic and knowing the boundries of the present technology. Good post and interesting though, windexed.

I never saw the actual Troy movie, but when my friends and I saw all of the CGI boats in the trailer, we laughed out loud in the theaters. Your other examples are good ones in using special effects, but I don't think that particular part in Troy was good use of CG.

I'd say no to both questions. Definitely not cheap, and has some learning curve.

I did, now I am just waiting.

you start to notice things here and there that catch your eye in the widescreen version...

now i will never go back...

ITs just that I spent so much time capturing and encoding to make DVD versions, I don't want to download any of the bootlegged Widescreen versions. My work would have been in vain, and I don't want that.

Is it so hard to comprehend that some animals can block the force naturally? At first, I thought as you did, but I found it to be plausible. If GL doesn't like the ysalamiri idea, then yes, the Thrawn trilogy could not be used. The ysalamari are an integral part of the trilogy. However, it is EU. I think EU has less of a chance of becoming movies as George Lucas will continue the series with the writing of the 7-9 episodes.

A few m8s have told me Enterprise started to improve in it's 3rd season - though 6 very insipid seasons of Trek and the last 2 films has put me right off. Perhaps time to let it rest for a few years...

I quite liked most of Voyager's episodes, and 7 of 9 added to the appeal.

EDIT: Maybe I should post something on topic, thinking of how the Terminator thing spun out of control. The first time I saw Star Wars was around 93 or 94, the THX version VHS's. I think I watched all three straight. I proceeded to watch one of them almost everyday for the next couple of weeks. I don't know where they went to... my VHS's are gone forever. But, its fine, I borrowed my friend's THX VHS set and converted them to DVD. Only problem is it is fullscreen, but that is the only way I have ever seen the movies, so I guess I am good.

Hey Hey Hey Don't go trying to tell me that I didn't read the Dune books. They are my favorite books. The mini-series sucked, I thought. But I didn't see the Children of Dune one, but my friend told me its not even worth renting.

Clone War, Balance of the Force, Phantom Edits...

After watching magnolia's re-edits and seeing how dramatically they improved the movie. What other movies (obviously Ep. I is the no-brainer) would you like to see re-editted to make a decent or good movie awesome?

4.) Dune - The theatrical release was a mess and I have heard there are edits out there, but damn there is some compelling story there if it was fixed. I'll think of more. And I am not talking about total reshoots, just working with the exisiting film and deleted scenes. BTW there is a fight scene taken out of brotherhood of the wolf that is sick and I have no idea why.

Again, I'd love to hear thoughts on my list and other movies you think could use some editing magic.

I heard a rumor on the Pantom Edit boards WAY BACK WHEN that someone was gonna do this - BUT I guess it was never done.

I have the TV version AKA The Alan Smitee Version on DVDr (3 hour edit - full screen) + the ANAMORPHIC widescreen both copied from the German offical DVD's.

I'd give em up for re-edits if someones really that ambitious

The Miniseries version was really bad though. Although the Lynch version is too short, its better than the miniseries version.

i still find that the ending to T2 through the dialogue and black road or the ending with sara at the park is the ending...
thats how i thought of it.... so giving us a sequel after you think its the end is always going to create conflict....
thats why im dreading Indy 4...
they should just leave it alone...

I know Indy 3 had all of them riding into the sunset! Riding into the sunset! It's THE END for any story. If that is not closure, I don't know what is

It is indeed scary how the technology has consumed Star Wars. I tell you, George Lucas melded with A.I. to form a cyborg. He now only listens to his machine counterparts. There are others like him... waiting to attack. BUTLERIAN JIHAD!!!!!

What is Irving Kershner up to now?

As for Kershner, I have no idea if he's retired or not. Probably hard to recover from the knowledge that he is responsible for Robocop 2. I would guess that, being 81 years old might have something to do with the fact that he hasn't done much lately.

Haha, I was going to say something about him probably being embarrassed by Robocop 2, but then decided against it.
