I think you’re right, yeah.

Yes. It is TROS ascendant from Hal 9000s.
As cool as it is a stable lightsaber for Rey, (even cooler when Ben gets it, so it became full circle. The Skywalker saber and stable like Kylo saber, it’s like it was made for him) I still prefer DOTF version of Rey with her wielding a double bladed blue saber. Logical move considering the saber was split in two in TLJ and Rey knows how to fight with a staff. It would be way cooler if it was like dark Rey’s saber. Double, swiss and unstable. I would also make one side of it be normal blue and other cyan blue.

Double bladed Rey edit
Time

Hello guys. Today I will raise a question to you. Is it possible via edit to give Rey a double bladed lightsaber in some movie?
I think there is no place to it in TFA, and could exist in TLJ, but is improbable. Tros maybe the best place to it because of the time jump. We all know that Colin Trevorrow’s Duel of The Fates would feature a double bladed blue saber for Rey. That is the logical move because in TLJ the saber was split in two and Rey is an expert in staff combat. Hal 9000s edit of TROS feature a stable blade like Kylo’s and that make sense, it was cool. But it wasn’t enough for me. Even her new yellow saber by the end of the movie is confirmed to not be a double bladed one. Is it possible to edit her saber in TROS to be a doubled one? (Could be a similar one to dark Rey, or two saber’s that ‘glue’ in each other, Inquisitor style. Would be cool if there were two blades, one could be blue for the Skywalker crystal, and other q cyan blade… I don’t know. I’m just wondering. I know it would be a really difficult task to edit, but I wonder: it is possible at least to edit the yellow saber from the final scene of the movie, to be a double bladed one, Bastilla Shan style? Gimme your thoughts please.

In the final version of TRoS, the legacy saber works normally, but there’s a leather band around it now, which implies that Rey did indeed repair it somehow, between the events of TLJ and TRoS. If I were Abrams, I woulda at least made the blade “wavy” or something, to remind audiences of the fact that the crystal got split in half (even if she did repair it, somehow).

Correct me if I’m wrong, but there is a fan edit of TROS that edited the saber’s blade to be instable like Kylo’s, right?

Something that makes me really confused is the topic of yellow Lightsabers on prequels. We see that in the High Republic, yellow Lightsabers are abundant, but by the time of the prequels, there are no Jedi that use them. Why? Temple guards in TCW appears using double bladed lightsabers for some reason… And apparently the yellow lightsaber don’t come from Illum. This topic really makes me confused frankly, I want to know an in-universe explanation of why they disappear from high republic to prequel era. Also it would be useful to know how the hell Rey got a yellow crystal in the end of the Rise of Skywalker.

That’s great. That effect and sound can even be mimicked for yet another call back. It would also give Rey reason for burying it at the end that seemed a little weird.

I think is really easy to have an effect like this. I also like the symbolism of Rey beeing so consumed and drived by her anger on Kylo and that whole situtation that she kinda explodes and stabs Kylo. Just like the Saber that is so overused and forced to be in there, it craclkes ad fails.
That is great editing guys, a simple change enrichs the movie’s themes.

I also like the idea that Rey killed her parents. I never found a way to implement it into the movie that didn’t feel forced. As an inexperienced editor, this being my first real project, I was also generally keeping things as simple as needed to get my goal accomplished.

Check out krausfadr’s fanedit (Resurgance), it could be very useful for you 😉

trying to get a link to it put i think krausfadr really isn’t still online these days, i am crazy to see, just like that joshuabri edit either

Hello! These are the shots in which it has been possible for me to change Luke’s hair, there are other shots in which it is impossible: a thousand generations … it is impossible, for me at least.
I have also lost two kilos of weight to Luke

Luke just didn’t know the saber was destroyed. He wasn’t in Snoke’s throne room. Everything about the projection was designed to anger Kylo more. And Kylo was clouded by his anger, and unable to think about the saber’s destruction.

I think the scene would’ve worked just as well with the green saber, just think both would’ve made Kylo think about it too much and realise it wasn’t real.

With Luke giving Rey Leia’s saber, I wonder if he got rid of his Lightsaber between the destruction of the temple and his arrival on Ahch-To.

I think he looses the saber in the “fight” between him and Kylo when Ben puts him to sleep. Also I kinda really like he uses the blue saber because the green one kinda represents all his failure with Ben, so even if he hadn’t lost it I really think he wouldn’t be able to use it again, and showing him using the blue saber at his final heroic moment against Ben and not trying to attack Ben at any point, shows that Luke gives away all the pride and failure the legendary luke skywalker and his green saber represents. That Luke is the same Luke that blinded for his own ego tries to kill Ben. When he uses the blue saber represents a more young and naive Luke, a pure-hearted one we see in New Hope and Empire.
But I really think is kinda of a waste Luke don’t using both of them. Luke was like THE GRAND MASTER of new jedi, he certainly knows how to fight with two sabers.

It would’ve been a cool visual, but thematically for the moment I’m glad it didn’t happen. Like, had we seen both it would’ve pointed out to us that he’s not really there. I loved the subtlety of the blue saber, hair/clothes, and lack of footprints rather than anything too obvious or noticeable.

But the two sabers don’t tell us is a projection of Luke. We kinda expecting Luke to use the green saber to fight Kylo (after all, the blue one was just destroyed). What is weird is to see Luke NOT using the saber. So is true that a lot of fan edits replaced the Anakin’s saber with the Luke’s one in the scene. But I really like the idea of Luke using the blue because it get Kylo furious and also because he is back to the old days, carrying on the father’s legacy and finally accepting to use the saber he refused by the beggining of the movie.

But also, if that is a projection and everyone is expecting to see Luke with the green saber, I really don’t understand why he couldn’t fight with both sabers, what would also make a nice paralell with Anakin fighting Dooku at the end of AOTC.

I think flipping and editing a shot from a different movie is fair game because Lucas did it for the SEs. Spot the differences!

These are both from the 2011 Blurays by the way, highlighting the oversaturated grade that ROTJ release had, and also the DNR present on that TPM release (which unfortunately persisted to the latest releases).

Yeah, it is super common to Blockbuster movies reuse shots from other previous movies, but we have to use this notion wisely because it could look lot fan-editty if not well done.
