Star Wars 1997 DTS CD-ROMs (Released)
Time

Id like to ask if there have been other DTS cinema tracks transfered from their CD-ROM sources to a usable format we can use for ourselves at home, other than the matrix and that of jurassic park which we can get from myspleen.

are there any more of this kind? what about this Star wars track, was it possible to create that one as well? if so where could I find it?

The Matrix - FULL SCREEN (NOT PAN&SCAN!) - *RELEASED*
Time

thank you for answering. compared to the older Cinema track which was posted separately at myspleen 10 months ago, this DTS-HD MA track has a size of 2.37GB while the old one has a size of 2.11GB (when converting the flac track to DTS-HD MA).

is the reason for that difference in size because the old track was lossy reencode of a lossy track?

thanks again!

I haven't had a chance to read through this entire thread just yet, just wondering if anyone's taken on doing a preservation of The Matrix.  I see the disc on the list and I had been happy with it's home release audio, but this is a movie that had its color changed somewhere between the theatrical release and it's home video HD release.  Some horrible green filters were added.  Having gone to the theater quite a few times to see The Matrix, I vividly remember the colors being more red/blue shifted than what was on the HD-DVD and Blu-ray.  My copy on LD looks closer to what I remember in the theater, but a 2.39:1 movie on LD leaves lots of detail out.  There's also a TV version of the movie in HD that looks close, but with a bit of DNR -- that one is not matted to 2.39:1 either.  Would be pretty cool to attempt a version that combines the Cinema DTS audio with a color corrected HD version of the film.  Any other details on the original color scheme?

I have actually released a regraded version of The Matrix that removes the blanket green tint on the blu-ray, bringing back the reds and blues and reduces the over the top contrast of the blu-ray. The 16gb version also includes the cinema DTS. You should check it out.

You can find it on tehparadox, search for 'regraded the matrix 16gb' and it should pop up.

but your version doesnt already include the fixed/more lossless encoded DTS cinema track which jerryshadoe corrected, does it? It would be nice to see that newer audio track included.

does anyone feel like syncing/cutting both original LD Blade Runner tracks to the Douche Edition?

The Douche edition is the DC + additional violence which has been cut out and which is present in the other version(s). It can be found on usenet. Its possible to create this edition with lossless video, because all these 3 different cuts exist on the same BD in branched form. together with the final cut this is my preferred version of Blade Runner, because I hate such cuts of violence, sex etc. Its basically the best of both worlds of the DC and the US/international cut versions.

I dont know how long you guys will still need for these project, but atm it doesnt look like H.265 is going to be better(!) and more effective than H.264 anytime soon. that time is still far away. just consider how many years H.264 has been in development to arrive where it is now and how little time H.265 has been existed so far.

just seeing that ^^ screenshot, isnt the quality supposed to be more grainy with those film reels? preserving the grain might need a lot of bitrate, please dont do any DNR (intentially or not)

not familiar with the technical process of what you are doing, but this is what it looks like when someone made a 40GB blu-ray for Back to the Future sourced from 210mbps JPEG2000DCP (you might have seen this before):

I dont know if its possible for your restauration to look like that, but if it is then it would be great!

Search in the whole forum (replace term1 term2 with your terms):

Search only in thread titles (replace term1 term2 with your terms):

https://www.google.it/search?q=site%3Aoriginaltrilogy.com%2Fforum+allintitle%3Aterm1+term2

Project lists (not comprehensive, but a very good start point):

Star Wars

other projects
http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Project-Index-Other-Preservations-and-Fan-Projects/topic/11159/

there are some copy & paste problems with the link, e.g. when I seach for "alien" in title (term1) then google gives me the search result

site:originaltrilogy.com/forum allintitle:alien

and no results at all.

Also, about the 25G vs 50G versions, yes it would be possible, we'll see what happens when we get to the end point. The distribution of it online gets unwieldy with those sizes though.

Team Negative1

that wont really be a problem with usenet. and to be honest, how long are you working on this now, several months or years? and then you'd possibly downgrade the quality of which you've been working on so long by the choice of 25G over 50g? that would potentially really be some big waste of time ;)

as said, 50GB wont be a problem for quality movie trackers and usenet. of course, those people who only prefer dvd9 or even dvd5 size never learn. you cant really appreciate the quality of the movie & restauration like that.
