I’ve been watching this forum for like two years now with very few commenting but now I’ve decided to start my own fanedit of Episode I.

I know that many of you may think that we have enough of those and what could I possibly do to make something differnet and fresh. Well this is for my personal enjoyment of the movie and in order for me to enjoy the movie I need something differnet and fresh. Of course I’m going to edit the usual stuff that almost every faneditor of this movie does and hopefully take things further.

So the things I’m planning are:

Remove cheesy or redundant dialog.

Improve the overall pacing of the film.

Trim bad acting especially from Jake Lloyd.

Less boring political dialog.

Make the queens dialog sound like an actual girl.

Remove CG cartoony characters as much as I can.

Darken Sidius face and lower voice to preserve the plot twist in later movies.

No CG two head announcers during the pod race.

Make Jar Jar much more tolerable and less cartoony

No virgin birth

No chosen one

No midichlorians

Trim the pod race to a tolerable running time withouth draging.

Make the Neimodians less coward as possible.

No “Oh, oh” from the droids.

No “Yipee” from Anakin.

Insert Anakin fighting deleted scene.

Insert Probe droid deleted scene.

Color Correction to keep it more consistent with the Original Trilogy.

Rescore a lot of parts with Original Trilogy themes.

No C-3PO.

Darken Darth Mauls neck on the Coruscant scene where you can see his neck without makeup.

Remove Darth as a name for every sith.

And more as I get ideas.

Things I might do if they work or I’m able to do them:

No Gungans vs. droid fight.

No spacebattle, perhaps move it to the part when they escape Naboo.

Redub Jar Jar in English or subtitle him with the soundtrack from another language.

Redub Neimodians in English or subtitle them with the soundtrack from another language.

No Gungans except Jar Jar.

Rotoscope out silly background characters especially from Tatoinne.

Color Correct Palpatines clothes that change of color during a scene in Coruscant and then change back.

I’m using the Bluray as the source and the NTSC DVD for the deleted scenes.

Please post ideas and opinions of what you think could make the movie better.

Do you have any idea of when you might finish the phantom menace? I'm just curious because I thought your clip was very well edited.

I just realized that right after Anakin shots at the controls to close the doors, right in that moment that the doors start closing, you can still see the blue force field. I don't know if that is because your work is unfinished or because you didn't notice it. Anyway, I just wanted to point it out.

Although it would be nice to have 1080p, Ady has already said that all revisited movies will be 720p because of several reasons:

1. Its easier and faster to download BD-25 than BD-50.

2. The loss of quality from 1080p to 720p isn't that much so it's not worth it.

3. The file size are to big.

4. He is using GOUT elements that don't upconvert well to 1080p

And I'm sure there are more. I also think 1080p would've been cool but it's not that much of a difference really.

May I suggest you to use some of the lines of the revenge of the sith video game in the fight between obi wan and anakin. Because the only thing they do is fight and I think they should be saying somethings, especially obi wan. You don't even have to show their faces while they talk just like in the middle of everything.

It has been a year since tfu 2 release and there hasn't been any anouncement about tfu 3. I think were screwed and we will just have to deal with that crappy cliffhanger ending at tfu 2. This is dissapointing from lucasarts not to finish the story:(

Interesting, but could you please point out all the changes so I don't miss anything. I like when obi force pushes him and the more fluid fight. I can't wait till you put griveous new voice. I'm not crazy about the closeup in the eyes, I never liked it because its very unstarwarsy. Overall looks good to me and I'm sure that when you put all the sounds and maybe record new lines for griveous, it'll be perfect.

I think that if you take this edit to the next level like adywan's kind of way, you commit to it and make radical changes that every star wars fan has always wanted, then you have something very special here. But you will truly need to commit to it and make incredibly radical changes. So far it looks good but you could do so much more.

I know you have just begun but just for you to know that you could make the definitive episode 3 here. This could be the version that every fan wants to have and the version they always dreamed of when they thought of how would episode 3 be like. I'm really looking forward to it and I wish you good luck. I hope you liked my word of motivation ;D

Impressive, most impressive.

Just a few suggestions:

Keep Vader's identity a secret. You could do this by letting anakin "burn till death" on mustafar so the audience thinks he really died. Later at the very end of the movie, we see a new apprentice (Darth Vader) so the audience thinks that palpy only used anakin to form his new empire and he didn't really care if he died because he had Vader under his sleeve.

Not naming luke nor leia and not give away where leia will end up. Just cut the line.

Make Sidious identity less obvious. Maybe put a shadow on his face and lowering his voice. This could also be use if you are planning on doing the other prequels(which would be cool if you do).

Maybe redubbing general griveous to be a more badass character and less coward (vader style maybe). And maybe mention that he really is Maul reconstructed as a cyborg so he could have a much more interesting backstory with ObiWan. It'll be awesome if you could make Griveous death more epic because the current one is kinda lame.

In general just try to make things match more with the OT please.

Oh an just wondering, are you working on HD?

maybe an off topic question but is there ever going to be any other film franchise to be revisited after star wars?

I have the first game and fraps but I can only record at 720p beacuse if put it at 1080p the game gets slow. English is my secondary language, I don't know to much about editing and I'm not a computer expert either but I guess I could record the footage of the first game and eventually I could get the second one.

I think that it would be better if Padme dies because I think it's more impactful. You could redub the medical droid that tells obi wan that she's dying because she lost the will to live and put something like that the babies got hit when anakin choke her. It wouldn't make any sense that Padme stayed with leia and gave luke to uncle owen and aunt beru. Sorry for bad english
