Idea: Theatrical PT Preservation... Any takers?
Time
I believe that a transfer of the Japanese LD and then substituting the video where possible with the DVD quality video might be worthwhile. I'm not sure if you're aware, but the Japanese LD has a much better sound mix than the DVD. This would also be another worthwhile reason to preserve the LD. I stand as one who would like to see a composite DVD that uses DVD video (except in cases where the LD has additional material not on the DVD) and the LD's soundmix for the audio. I still think this might be a bit too much on the "bootleg" side to talk about though. :/

As for Episode II, I believe someone around here has a bootleg of the theatrical cut, you should try Rikter.

And, finally, Episode III... I was under the impression that ROTS had no changes made for the DVD release, and to be honest, such a minute change does seem a bit of a stretch from "preservation" to "bootleg".

High Tension cover: what I like: the title writing, the large amount of blood, the overall dark atmosphere of the front. Actually this fits the movie better than the Rikter cover.

CBB006 - High Tension: Minus One Edit (Preview #02):
just great! very good front pictures and writing, I am not so sure about the silver frame, but that is the series, so it's okay, the side is very nice and fitting and the back cover is sufficent and well done. Congratulations. What I like best is your diplomatic way of changing our texts and correcting them to real English and less offensive. good work.

CBB008 - War of the Worlds: Extinctive Cut (Preview #01):
War of the worlds: I like the front and the title font you chose is also nice. The picture in the front may be the same as in the original cover but since it is more focussed on the red spreading and reaching plants, it delivers a different atmosphere, kind of disgusting, I like that.

CBB008 - War of the Worlds: Extinctive Cut (Preview #02):
great picture in the back!!! Since I have never seen it and it is not part of the movie, I suspect, you composed this on your own. WOW! Tough work. Very good cover art for this one too. I consider both covers finished as they are now, but then you never know what idea is still on your mind. Keep it up.

you may send me the final versions of your cover art as soon as you finished them, so I can add them to further uploads. I am looking very forward to adding these covers to future postings of CBB edits.
...after all it was worth it to keep you in the credits of WOTW TEC. ;-)

Thank you everyone for the kind words. I hope that I can provide covers of the same, and perhaps better quality as I continue to work on covers for other CBB titles.

Meedermow/PSYCHO_DAYV:
To have the latest versions of my covers you would need: the disc labels from the first yousendit link, the DBTB cover from the first link, and the HT:MOE and WOTW:TEC covers from the second link. As I now understand it: the DBTB stuff was corrupted in the first link? Well then...

EDIT:
Link removed to avoid confusion.

Oh no! There were some slight problems with the WOTW:TEC cover and the HT:MOE cover, which I've just fixed. You will have to get this new file and delete the old versions of the WOTW:TEC & HT:MOE covers as we don't want the ones with problems being distributed. There are no problems with the DBTB cover that was in the previous file.

EDIT: Links have been removed to avoid confusion.

<strong><strong>BLADE RUNNER: The Unauthorized OFF-WORLD Box Set</strong></strong> (Released)

It doesn't look like you've added the Deck Definitive to your latest soundtrack list, Rikter. But, I'm glad you were able to get the soundtracks. That's pretty much all the Blade Runner stuff I can offer. I still reckon someone with the cash should buy the storyboard script and contribute it to this project.

Info Wanted: Any PLANET OF THE APES preservationists here?
Time
I've purchased a number of soundtracks from FSM, including the 2 POTA CDs available there. I'm a POTA fan, and annoyed that Australia isn't going to get the animated series in our version of the ape head.

Interestingly enough, I thought the same thing about material that might be out there but not on the DVDs. The first thing I did was check LDDB for any stuff from the laserdiscs. When I saw that 'Battle' has a longer cut, my first thought was to post on here to have someone preserve it. The following day it was confirmed that this longer cut would appear on the new DVD.

You sir are a legend! Thank you!

No worries. I've wanted to see this one myself. Just have nothing to trade at the moment. Got the cover sitting on my hard drive ready to go.

Dunno if you need this, but just in case you checked the framerate with properties, but are still wondering how to set it in Womble...
Right-click on Timeline-Window's ruler-looking thingy (it's right above the video track). Highlight "Frame Rate". I imagine that's for the output framerate.

For making 5.1 audio, I got results from a trick, at Doom9, that MeBeJedi recommended in an earlier thread, for using WinDvd decoder. WinDvd Dolby decoder trick If that fails (or has already failed) I can help you get it to work. They could've come up a better choice of Hex Decoders, and that text editor they recommended in its place doesn't tell you the hex position. A nice, simple, old Dos-window Hex Editor worked for me. (Haven't found a modern link for it yet - an ancient, free, Dos version of HIEW).

As for getting the soundtracks to blend well, I'd have to leave that to someone else, because I ain't there, yet. But judging from the miracles we've seen around here, it should be possible.

Well, thank you for the Womble setting change. If I understand correctly, now that I've changed that, PAL (25fps) should be the default setting. Thanks.

As for sound, that's the guide I was working from first. I don't want to go ahead and do sound stuff with these videos though if I'm going to have to resort to the NTSC DVD's scenes. It would be a waste of time. However, once the video probs are sorted out I will ask for assistance with the sound side of things. Thanks again.

MeBeJedi:
It unfortunately looks like these artifacts are encoded into the video, ie. a bad NTSC->PAL transfer. I know because when I went to change the framerate of the video in VDubMod it was already 25fps. Similarly, with Womble I inserted one of the scenes and it changed to 25fps straight away. I wish that there was some resource that detailed which PAL DVDs were poor NTSC->PAL transfers. I rely on reviews from MichaelDVD, and information from DVDActive and of course, DVDCompare.

Oh, and MeBeJedi, as for my setup:
I'm using an AMD Athlon XP 2600+ (1.92Ghz) with 768MB of RAM, running Windows XP SP2 on a hard drive set to NTFS.

Max_Rebo:
Here are shots from each of the sources to compare the bar sizes:
Scene from the movie
Scene from Disc 1's Deleted Scenes
Scene from Disc 1's Deleted Scenes after being 'anamorphicised' like detailed
Scene from Disc 2's Deleted Scenes

If you could enlighten me Max_Rebo, how can you calculate the correct cropping/resizing numbers for the different aspect ratios? What I mean is, is there a table that tells you the different values you must use when you want to crop/resize letterboxed video to make it anamorphic. I think I've seen something like that before for NTSC format, but never for PAL. For example you said to resize to 720x428, then crop 125 from either side - where did you pull these values from?

I've also reripped the movie to my hard drive with 'no-splitting' enabled. I now have a "Stream Information" text file, a small IFO file, an M2V of the entire movie and an AC3 of the entire movie. Would it be better to re-rip the deleted scenes like this? Should I have them as separate scenes or rip them together as one long M2V & AC3?

Here is some brief info on the scenes from Disc 2 (this is mainly for Max_Rebo):
1. Extended Fanty & Mingo (2:15)
Fanty & Mingo have some more lines. There's a fun one "Me and Fanty is greedy. You could set your watch by our greed, it wavers never".
2. Extended Mal Inara Wave (2:16)
More of the conversation between Mal & Inara over the wave. One noticeable addition is Inara asking if Mal is wearing pants.
3. Extended Mal & Operative in Companion Training House (0:49)
The Operative has a tiny added bit of talk. He tells Mal how River is his 'purpose'. It helps the extended Coda from Disc 1 make more sense/fit better.
4. Mal & Inara Shuttle Improv. (0:50)
Mal talks to Inara on the shuttle flight back to Serenity about the Operative. This mainly shows Mal afraid that Inara will tell the others he was beaten up.

MeBeJedi & Max_Rebo:
I guess, the question now is, is there any way to 'fix' these deleted scenes? It appears that the artifacts are less prominent in the scenes from Disc 2. Would it be better to upconvert the NTSC versions of the disc 1 scenes if there isn't a reasonable way of getting rid of these artifacts?

Rikter:
I've uploaded a pack at Demonoid with all the Blade Runner bootlegs I have. You won't need the Gongo one, but I recommend getting the Esper Edition (in case you don't have the newer version) and the 2 you asked for. I'd also get the tiny bonus folder, which is just an archive of a website someone linked to here on the OT forums and also a Struzan comparison pic.

Coov, you've had to have made at least 2 dozen different Star Wars covers, just generic ones, then there's all the Classic Edition covers you've done. Surely you've submitted all of these for that covers disc?

Are you seeing this in your video editor? What program are you using?

The only way I can imagine this happening is that you are trying to watch the PAL version under NTSC settings, which is causing 2-3 pulldown to run at 30fps.

These 'artifacts' are showing up in Virtualdub and Womble. I didn't think that PAL was interlaced, I don't understand why I'm seeing these things. If it's just a problem with these programs not playing the video properly, then I guess I should just skip to the next step. I need to get the scenes from the first disc cropped and resized right. Does anybody know the correct numbers to crop by for PAL? I need the first disc's scenes, to match the 2.35:1 anamorphic video of the movie.

MBJ, I will have another look at the version I have at the moment and see if I get those lines in DVD player software or on my standalone player.

Hopefully Rikter you're working from FLAC/WAV files rather than MP3, though if there isn't anybody with lossless files it makes sense to use MP3. Unfortunate though. I have the following if any could be of help, whether there's no uncompressed versions available for these that you have access to or if my MP3s are of a higher bitrate...
* Gongo Edition (128kbps MP3s)
* Los Angeles 2019 (320kbps MP3s)
* Deck Definitive (320kbps MP3s)
* Esper Edition v2.0 (Bitrates vary, ie. some files are 192, some are 224, some 256 and some 320 - all CBR, no VBRs)

I have to say I'm glad an isolated score track is being constructed. I hope that the eventual official release will contain one.

ALSO: I have a list of material here that are merely suggestions for inclusion. I doubt anyone will go on ebay to buy these, but if anybody owns any of these, perhaps they could provide them. Of course, in the case of the books, we probably couldn't use them (copyright), but the magazines are long out of print, so the magazine articles should be okay...

Some suggestions:

That is way too much for us to even gather just a couple of articles. However, I do think that the storyboard script (107 pages of storyboards), would make for a nice storyboard gallery on the DVD - it should definitely be included! And the Illustrated Blade Runner and Blade Runner Sketchbook would also be neat to have.
