//Star Wars Begins\\: HD Version Now on Vimeo
Time

Jambe,

I just finished watching Star Wars Begins earlier today, and it was completely awesome. I had never seen most of the deleted footage that was in it, and I really enjoyed the subtitle text as well as the interview audio that went along with the movie. Great Stuff!

Plan to give the other two go when I can. Watched this one on youtube and it wasnt bad at all that way.

Thank you for all of your hard work!

What do you LIKE about the EU?
Time

Im a fan of Zahn, ive read all of those listed by Anchor except for Allegiance. They were all decent enough to read.

What's ya'lls take on Talon Karrde? Didnt Zahn come up with him too? I think he's a pretty cool character.

Anyone ever read the Corellian Trilogy? I remember reading that one and liking it. Its pre pt and set when Leia and Han have the 3 kids. It wasnt too bad.

It makes no difference which version of the film I or anyone else "prefers".  The original theatrical versions won seven academy awards including editing and special effects. Changing the editing and the special effects while not allowing a decent release of the award-winning versions creates an unprecedented historical artistic void that could and should be rectified.

As precise and perfect as I have ever seen it in writing. It simply cannot be argued with. Found my new signature.

Totally agree, not gonna use as my sig though ;-)

I dont care what anyone else says, TPM is a steaming pile of shit. Only way to watch it is a fan edited version. My preferred one is L8wter's, its pretty damn good movie after he fixed it up.

"I don't care what anyone else says" - then you won't mind me not giving a tinker's cuss about what you say either.

I very much care for the opinions of others, especially if they're opposite to mine.  It's a good way to challenge your own preconceptions and see if you either have the evidence to stick to your original opinion or if you have the humility and maturity to recognise the value of another point of view and take it on board.

Otherwise, you're just blinkered and stubborn, pushing yourself ever further into your little corner, hands over your ears, saying "I'm not listening, I'm not listening".  Why even come to a forum, then, if that's the attitude?  Unless, of course, it's just simple hubris that inspires your every post - "Look at me, my deathless opinions are there for all to see, in black and white.  Aren't I important?"

Ever heard of the word hyperbole?

Your line of thinking is what is wrong with the world, oh lets not have any strong convictions so we dont hurt anyone's feelings, its PC run amok.

You have your own opinion and you are entitled to it, I just think that the movie in its non fan edited form really really sucks for many different reasons, the main one being the completely stupid midichlorine bullshit. Nothing you can say or do will take that turd out of the movie, unless you edit it out like a lot of the editors have...

Edit: HAHAHA I just got it! You thought I was replying directly to you. What an over inflated sense of self worth. It was a reply to the topic of the phantom menace and how I personally think its awful. The internet is always funny...

Lastly Puggo did a fantastic job with his Puggo Grande version of Star Wars. Even though I was no where near being born in 77, makes me get an idea of what it was like to be there watching it then.

Thanks for the kind words.  To clarify, watching the PG, in my opinion, is not at all like watching it in 1977.  Because, in 1977, the prints were still pristine.  Watching Harmy's HD versions is more like what it was like in 1977.  The PG is what it was like watching SW revivals in theaters in the mid-80s, after the prints had gotten all scratched up and were still being shown at midnight matinees.

Ok well cool, either way its pretty neat to watch. Showed it a friend the other day, he thought the psa was the greatest thing ever. :-)

what doubleko said. myspleen is a torrent site, download the dark jedi v3 theatrical editions, they are really good.

another good one to try out is Harmy despecialized HD version of Empire Strikes Back (he aint done the whole trilogy yet). That one is fantastic. You should be able to pm him for the info on how to get it.

Good luck!

right now, the only ones ive watched in the past few years have been:

ANH:Revisited which is just pure awesomeness. Its the definitive version for me.

TPM: L8wters edit. Very well done. Decent movie now.

ROTS : Stankpac's edit, thought it was decent.

I own all 3 prequels on DVD, have never purchased a star wars OT version after the VHS "faces" version I had which was what I watched when i was a kid (prolly in the 10-12 range maybe?)

I just downloaded DJ's V3 of of the OT thanks to myspleen and plan to watch them on my ATV 2g using XBMC in the next few days since I dont care to burn them right now. Will be the first time ive watched star wars pre SE since i was a kid and wore out my VHS copies :-(

Just updated post with some thoughts on other versions ive watched.

Dj v3 is pretty damn good. All three movies look and sound great, its really cool watching the movie with just the score for audio. Great job on that set. For now I'll turn to that version of ROTJ.

ESB: Harmy Despec HD AVCHD deal is simply AWESOME. You have to get a hold of this version of ESB, its the best ive ever seen. Im really anxious to see ESB:R by Adywan, but for now this is the best version of ESB there is, period.

Lastly Puggo did a fantastic job with his Puggo Grande version of Star Wars. Even though I was no where near being born in 77, makes me get an idea of what it was like to be there watching it then. The addition of the 3PO PSA was awesome too and the little bit about making the capture was awesome too, cant wait to see your ESB.

So now for the OT:

SW: ANH:R by Ady

ESB: Harmy Despecialized HD AVCHD

ROTJ: DJ V3

Harmy does the same thing he did for empire to jedi and im sure that would replace dj v3 for it. I dont think anything will replace ady on SW, but you never know...

Star Wars Video Games - a general discussion thread
Time

No one mentioned Masters of Teras Kasi?

Played TFU:I and it was ok, controls were kinda crappy but the story was good.

kotor 1 and 2 were both great to me, even if 2 was unfinished basically.

i have fond memories of shadows of the empire for the n64

Tie Figther was the greatest though, great gameplay and story.

Played various other star wars games, but dont remember enough about them to mention them.

No one mentioned Star Wars Galaxies either, no one played that? (I didnt either, just saying...)

Shit I also forot about Empire at War! Pretty decent RTS game back in the day.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Star_Wars_video_games#Empire_at_War

Good list of games, might jog more peoples memories.

Hypothetical Question.
Time

It is amazing its gotten to this in SW-ville, almost bizzare if you ask me.  Plus we now he Lucas's children tweeting and baiting the fans????  I think EVERYONE needs to take a step back.......

Links or it didnt happen.

I just want to watch the original movies in HD without any bullshit special added effects. Whats so damn hard about that? Give me that, and I would be perfectly happy. Until then we have this place where great people try and make the best of a shitty situation by painstakingly trying to recreate the experience we should be able to purchase...
