Current upload speed fluctuating between 1.5 and 2.9MB/s. God bless uloz.to.

We may yet make the 28th August release date. Well for US residents anyway :-)

Wow, that is excellent. At this rate, it'll be done in three hours!!

Hopefully the download speeds will be ANYWHERE NEAR that!  Also hope that whoever is hosting the torrent (assuming there is one) has a sweet connection

Burning in subtitles - quick HOWTO?
Time
Moth3r: I am trying to re-encode the GOUT DVDs with CCE SP in 16:9 AR and burned-in subititles (for ANH and ROTJ). I also want to use the original (not re-encoded) AC3 audio from the GOUT DVDs.

pittrek: I tried to do this process manually, but no matter what I did, CCE always produced video that was sped-up. I guess it implemented pulldown. I couldnt figure out a way to correct this.

Yeah, I can't figure it out.

I'm trying to use DVD Rebuilder for its Prepare and Encode (w/ CCE SP) steps, and instead of letting it Rebuild into a DVD, I want to manually build a DVD with the re-encoded video files and the original AC3 audio file from the ESB DVD. After Rebuilder and CCE finish the "Encode" step, I am left with the following files:

-item.ecl, item01.ecl, REBUILDER.ECL
-REBUILDER.INF
-V01.D2V
-54 sets of 4 files with the following extensions: .AVS , .FLG , .m2v , .vaf (e.g. V01000000001001.AVS, V01000000001001.m2v)

My plan was to import all of the .m2v files into DVD-Lab and import the original demuxed .AC3 audio file and burn the DVD. For whatever reason, DVD-Lab wanted a 2:3 pulldown for all 54 of the video files. After all that, I couldnt even drag more than one file into the DVD builder, it wouldnt allow multiple m2v's to be placed back-to-back.

So.... anybody have any advice? I've never done manual DVD authoring, so I dont know anything. But I do know that I'm sick of working on these DVDs!

Thank you

Burning in subtitles - quick HOWTO?

Moth3r, thanks for the help.
Last night, I used DVD-RB 2.50 and the process was a complete success!

But, being greedy, I'm not done yet. Today I'm going to try to run the process again, but at the end manually insert the original audio from the ESB DVD. I dont like how the audio gets re-encoded using Rebuilder and CCE. I plan on running the Preparation & Encoding steps in Rebuilder, and then do the rest manually. I'm thinking I'll just import the original AC3 audio file and all the .m2v video files into MuxMan (or DVD-Lab Pro) and build the DVD. I hope this is as easy as it looks (seems like it never is). If this process doesn't work, its not the end of the world: what I have right now is very much acceptable.

After I finally finish the ESB DVD, it will be time to move on to the task of burning in subtitles with the ANH and ROTJ discs. Hopefully I'll get to start that tonight.

Thanks for the help!

Burning in subtitles - quick HOWTO?

Yes..... As a matter of fact I am using a dodgy, cracked version of DVD RB.

The fundamental problem here is that I'm not willing to spend more money to accomplish something (anamorphic SW DVD's) that should have been included in my original purchase of the Star Wars DVDs. I just want DVDs that will work with my HDTV! Is that too much to ask for after paying $50 for YET ANOTHER set of SW discs?! Damnit Lucas!
Rebuilder does look like a worthy program, but this will most likely be the ONLY time I will need it. Maybe I'll just try using the freeware version and hope for the best.

Moth3r, thank you for helping. I really appreciate it.

Damn, I really need help right now. The video looks great, but I every time I encode it, the audio is always silent.
I had problems ripping the ESB DVD. DVD Decrypter produced files that Rebuilder didnt like (it wouldnt load the entire movie, only a 6 min clip). DVDFab Decrypter produced files with no sound. Right after ripping I played the files in Media Player Classic and there was no sound. DVD Shrink rips everything just fine. The audio works and Rebuilder has no problem loading the files. So the problem starts with DVD Rebuilder.

Here's what I'm using:
-DVD Shrink to rip
-DVD Rebuilder Pro 1.21
-CCE SP 2.70

When I ripped with DVDShrink, I selected only the video track and the English audio track (I left out all the subtitles and the other two audio's). After encoding, the video is great, but the 1 audio track is silent. I loaded the files back into DVDShrink and there is definitely an audio track, but its 178MB instead of the original 180MB.

Is there any way to tell DVD RB or CCE that I dont want to re-encode the audio track? I really just want the audio to be untouched. There is NO reason why it should deal with it in the first place.

I really need help and I would REALLY appreciate it!

Thanks

OK, I used DVDFab Decrypter to rip the ESB DVD and Rebuilder was able to recognize the main movie title. Good.

I checked the option to convert from LB 4:3 to 16:9 and encoded. It took about 3 hours and its done. The result is a video still with black bars, but they are much smaller. I image that the video is now 16:9. Is this correct? Should there still be smaller black bars?

Is there any way to completely cut off the black bars and be left with just the video?

Burning in subtitles - quick HOWTO?

I'm SO frustrated.

I can't get DVD Rebuilder Pro (1.21) to correctly open any of the Star Wars GOUT DVDs. Every time I open ESB, Rebuilder opens "Video Title Set 02", which is 77MB. I cant get it to open the freaking entire movie! It does the same thing with the other two DVDs.

I have ripped the DVDs with Decrypter: File Mode, with File Splitting off. After ripping ESB, the folder is 7.31GB with 47 files.

Why isnt Rebuilder opening the main video?! This is driving me CRAZY. Right now, I hate this program.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

What about subtitles?

When I watch Ep I, there are no subtitles - even for the alien languages. I have to put it to "Subtitles 2 (English)" to get subtitles that ONLY display for alien talk.

For my edit, I want this Subtitle 2 stream to be permanently encoded in the film - not an option. Is this easy to do, even with the cutting and pasting I'll be doing? I assume that I'll be applying the stream to the mpeg video, then editing.

I just ripped the video with DVD Decrypter. Should I keep it in the standard DVD structure, or should I rip it to create one mpeg file? This might be a stupid question, sorry.

Help Wanted: Fan Edit of Episode I

Let me clarify just a bit.

I want to cut parts of the movie, add some deleted scenes, and burn to a DL disc WITHOUT ANY QUALITY LOSS. I want everything to be exactly the same quality as it is on the retail dvd.

What would be the easiest way to accomplish this. Assume disk space isnt an issue. I would like to spend most of my time editing, as opposed to messing with software.

Help Wanted: Fan Edit of Episode I
Time

After watching Episode I (and buying a new 320gb hard drive), I have decided to edit this terrible film for my own private collection. I have seen Magnoliafan’s edit, and yes, I do like it. But I want mine to be a bit more conservative. I dont want to subtitle anyone, or even change the title or opening scroll. Basically, I just want to take out the childish scenes, clips, and sayings. This, of course, means that my focus will mainly be on Jar Jar.

I have worked on several projects with Adobe Premiere, so I’m not a total newbie.

Here’s what I want to do:

  1. Rip the dvd to the disk, in an uncompressed AVI
  2. Cut various parts of the film
  3. Add a couple deleted scenes
  4. Convert to MPEG-2 with CCE, so that it will fit nicely on a Dual Layer DVD+R

My question is, what should I use for steps all this?

  1. Ripping the dvd to an uncompressed AVI isnt difficult, but what program would be the best?
2 & 3) I would like to use Adobe Premiere because I am very fimiliar with it. If I do use it, will it be able to output an uncompressed AVI without losing any quality. I know this is a stupid question, but I’ve only used premiere to save a video to a different format, I’ve never saved to an uncompressed AVI.

BTW, I have a PC.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
