I am against English text also but I could have a mess around with an Aurebesh inspired font. There was one used on the recent Luke and Leia saber set at Galaxy’s Edge.
I’m definitely taking all your ideas in board. I do think a large amount of graffiti would do best - similar to what we see in the first episode of Mando season 2.
I’ll also be looking at Sabine’s tags as well - she obviously used the rebel Phoenix logo a lot so I’ll throw that in a well.
There’s a lot of wall space in the Kijimi scenes so I best make a start!

Okay ace I’ll get on it. I have a few ideas of my own but I’ll also have a go at the ones suggested already and we’ll see how it goes. Is there a scene/scenes on Kijimi in particular where the graffiti is going? Just so I can an idea of what it needs to look like on screen?

I remember someone offering to design the graffiti art but did this happen? I could try to camera-track a wall and add it to a scene or two.

The novelization had his last line be in Rey’s head after he dies: “Noones ever really gone.” Not only is it a nice callback to Luke, but it also explains why Rey suddenly looks happy as she’s flying away in her X-wing.
Too bad he never said that anywhere.
I like this idea. Ben’s last words could be something similar to Obi Wan’s - ‘Remember, the force will be with you. Always.’
It’d be a nice call back not only to his name sake but to the movie it all started with.

I’m just going to add my voice to the “Don’t mess with the original canon lore too much” crowd, as I’d actually like to show this cut to future fans who will ultimately be more satisfied with it as a valid alternative. It’s pretty darn good as it is right now. I’m already sad about the loss of the Episode III line, but I understand why you cut it. Changing the vats of Snoke Clones to Sheev clones is harmless enough as one would expect to see failed Sheev bodies in the same lab somewhere anyway.
Changing Kef Bir to the forest moon is also a small stretch, but I understand why you did it too and it’s easy enough for the casual viewer to overlook. No one who wants to nitpick will care about the color of Leia’s saber, and the purple looks pretty neat.
Outside of those changes, there’s a lot I like about this cut so far. Preserve the lore where you can so I can share it among others without big canon-debates, while only fixing the film’s real problems.
I totally agree with this, it’s one of the reasons I am a bit iffy about the purple lightsaber, as much as I love the idea of honouring Carrie’s wish for Leia’s blade to be purple. Everything else that’s been changed I doubt will ever be touched on again in canon (e.g. Kef Bir)
If there was footage that didn’t look out of place, I feel like Lothal deserves a place in the victory montage. Then we’d have a planet from each trilogy and one from the EU
Rearrange the Medal shot from the trailer to before Leia lays down.
Yes! I’ve been meaning to say this myself about the medal. I love the shot and I’m glad it’s added in but the angle suggests Leia is stood/sat upright. Changing the sequence will hopefully work!

Will you be doing two versions of the Exegol scenes? One with Leia’s lightsaber in blue for people to use in their own personal edits? Also, will you be adding the effect to Jonh’s Force Ghost scenes?
So I plan on really tailoring this to Hal’s edit, so definitely with the purple lightsaber and definitely with Jonh’s ghost clip.
I hadn’t really planned to do Leia’s blue lightsaber but honestly it wouldn’t take a lot of effort to do it. In fact it would be super easy as I could use the same masking work from the purple clip and replace with the blue clip, so yeah I can do Leia’s blue lightsaber for people to add to their own versions.

I’ve been following this guy for years and he just keeps getting better and better! I’d really hoped that his animations of pilots could have been repurposed for the Exegol battle but unfortunately I think they stand out a bit too much 😦
I’m all for the crackling saber. I really wish we had a scene where Rey heals the crystal but this would really help to resolve the issue of it functioning normally again after being split in half. My only concern is that the sound could be distracting in certain scenes but I’ve no doubt you people will make it work!
I have really been in the mood to watch this movie again recently but I’m holding out now until the final edit!
I mocked up the ending with the cockpit shot (music-only) and I think it actually makes the final music track smooth out a lot nicer towards the end!
I also increased the warmth of the cockpit shot to simulate the sun through the windows.
It would be cool to include R2 and maybe D0 behind BB-8 at the end.

Personally I love this idea and hope someone uses it in their edit. If there was a way to add in Threepio and Artoo then even better!
The gang in the Falcon is one of my favourite scenes. Mainly because of Chewie saying something like ‘this is exciting’ and Rey saying ‘it is’. If that scene was repurposed I’d hope that would stay in.
In regards to the first scene, has anyone looked at the BBC show ‘The Planets’? There are plenty of establishing shots of Lava planets and red desert planets that could potentially stand in for Mustafar.
I had an idea that you could show TIEs flying over lava, perhaps past Vader’s castle, then over red desert/sea and toward trees ending with the forest battle. I’m not sure how seamless it would be to make all the shots feel like the same planet though.
Either way I’d highly recommend checking the show out, it’s beautiful!

I just watched Doomcocks’ video and that’s ten minutes of my life I’m never getting back. I know it’s somewhat hypocritical sharing this on a fan edit message board but this guy is clearly incredibly bias and needs to accept the fact that Rey Skywalker is canon and will be forever. This video has about as much credibility as something Mike Zeroh would produce with an extra dash of misogyny. For more reliable star wars news I would suggest sticking with the star wars leaks reddit, Youtube is full of trash.
Absolutely agreed! I’ve had to unsubscribe from so many star wars YouTubers recently for spouting utter garbage! Did you watch the Mike Zeroh clickbait breakdown video? It was hilarious. 🤣

Yeah, those are placeholder. I just wanted to show that if you leave the music sting as-is, there should be some sounds of the ship taking off during the last Kylo closeup to help ease the passage of time between cuts. Alternatively, you could tweak and extend the music. I’m not sure which would be better.
My only issue with that scene is the fact they would be flying into oncoming toe fighters. I always wondered how the escaped that chase so ease.
I actually think the ties would be coming from camera left on the last shot. This is based on where Poe points and where Finn looks as he runs back towards the ship. In any case, this is what we could do with the available material. 🤷🏻♂️

This is fantastic! Having heard rumours that Duel of the Fates would appear in the movie, I was convinced the moment the Sith Eternal choir turned up they had to be the ones to belt out that tune. This is exactly what I had imagined it would sound like!
I know a lot of changes have been made to Threepios dialogue after he has his mind wiped which I’m all for. Did anyone come up with a way of improving the ‘that’s not even a language’ scene. That part didn’t really sit right with me.
It’s really fantastic seeing all this finally coming together.
One thing I noticed was the during the chess scene the audio outside the Falcon is very quiet. Was this intentional? I found it quite difficult to hear Finn, Poe and Chewie, I feel like hearing them while Rey is outside really sells the idea of them being there with her. I feel like that audio needs a slight boost.
Also, are you keeping the line about Luke and Leia knowing Rey was a Palpatine all along? Although I wasn’t a huge fan of the lineage reveal from the start, this line still really irks me.
