Again, hilarious and revealing hot takes. This movie isn’t worth it. This ain’t it, chiefs.
It was worth giving the first black man an oscar for it in 1947 of all times 🤷♀️
Lol at anyone to putting words in my mouth or sticking up for song of the south, an unnecessary and indeed unfortunate association with Disney to say the absolute least. If no one ever saw this film again I’m pretty sure the world would be just fine. Feel how you want but don’t act disingenuous and shocked when someone wants to detract from it, it deserves it.
You would only want to detract from it if you both have no understanding of the diverse experiences of black Americans back then(I recommend reading the Library of Congress’s extensive collection of former slave interviews), and don’t understand why a Disney musical for children isn’t going to have Uncle Remus act like a sad man that is hated by everyone the entire movie. The over the top niceness is of course the better alternative for a kids musical. What’s even more hilarious is Disney has a G rated movie they made in the 2000’s on Disney Plus right now that has the n word with the hard r twice, the k slur for black South Africans, and has a black South African get his ass whopped by a white waiter lol.

Really interested in the project, maybe even in contributing. Just one question first, is there something about the blu ray release that is wrong or messed up that you are trying to fix with this project. Or are you doing this just to do it, for the fun/educational process.
Really just curious, most of the projects I see here are trying to fix poor color timing or subsequent director/studio meddling. What’s your reason?
All my projects are just for fun. But open matte 35mm scans are the most fun 😃. Napoleon Dynamite just had a new 4k restoration made and it showed at Sundance a few months ago. That is the official look, and the best the movie will ever look as Jared Hess the director approved it. Jared doesn’t have a history of doing very weird regrades of his movies, and there’s never been any censorship or terrible altering for Napoleon Dynamite. So when the inevitable UHD disc gets released, I highly recommend buying it. If you decide you would like to donate, you can PM me.

Thanks to everyone, you sexy bastards!
I started reading the books of the Raimi Spider-Man movies. I was expecting just a retelling of the movies, but they are basically their own things. You do have to disregard some things that were changed for the movies later on though.
Falcon did a 35mm scan of Psycho. I forget what the aspect ratio is. I haven’t watched it since I first got it.
organ site?
Did someone leak it? That’s awful.
Probably the same person who was leaking other stuff on there.
Yeah I haven’t heard of any DCPs ever being leaked besides hoaxes and non-DCP leaks being labeled as DCPs.
I assume the Apocalypse Now one is genuine or someone in China made a very very high quality 35mm scan with a flawless looking print. Here’s the media info https://pastebin.com/TK37Lp4Z. 195Mb/s bitrate and it’s not even 4k lol.
Isn’t there a DCP of Back to the Future?
That’s fake from what I can gather.
How many real DCP’s of movies have ever been leaked? I know the Apocalypse Now file that was cracked and leaked by someone in China is real, I have it. There’s been a lot of rumors of several DCP’s being leaked by someone in Asia, but I can never find anything concrete about this.
Hooray, OT is back up! I’ll be reaching out to donors sometime soon to get email addresses in case this happens again, but feel free to PM it to me if you’d like.
Anyways, I suppose it’s a perfect time for an update, as there’s a lot to discuss. Firstly, I want to share a bit about distribution of the final print, which will be done a bit differently now due to the recent Reddit leaks which caused a bit of a stir.
I won’t go too much into detail regarding my opinions on what happened, but I will say that I find openly sharing these scans on Reddit and other websites a bit irresponsible and a good way to get some person or another in trouble. To be clear, I don’t necessarily think we should gatekeep or disallow people from seeing scans; I think it should be up to whoever did the scan who they distribute the print to (not that there are any implied rights, but I see it as a simple courtesy thing), but at the very least I believe that it should be kept to private messages as opposed to just having a website with download links to full, copyrighted movies.
Knowing all this, I will be slightly tightening things as far as who will receive copies of the print. I’m in favor of letting more people see the final scan, but I’m just too fearful of getting in trouble after it gets posted online to be willing to send it to whoever messages me and asks. Perhaps that’s irrational to some capacity, but it’s just something I’m not comfortable with at this point.
The long-and-short of it this: all people who have donated WILL get a copy, as expected. Other people interested can receive a copy AT MY DISCRETION, but will be required to provide image proof that they own a copy of the film. I’ll be keeping things fairly limited, so don’t necessarily expect a response if you PM me asking for a copy.
If you do receive a copy of the scan, know that I’m trusting you not to share a copy with anyone else or post it online, and my willingness to do another project like this may be impacted if anyone does so. Also, I’d like to share that I plan on posting clips of the final scan on YouTube/Archive.org, as I do want to give everyone the opportunity to see it in some capacity.
My apologies if this leaves some people feeling disappointed, but it’s what I ultimately feel is the best course of action. I might find some way to get the scan out to more people in the future, but for now I’d like to keep things as lowkey as possible.
With that out of the way, Let’s discuss the scan itself! As far as funds go, we’re currently sitting at a little over $1400. I imagine this should be about as much as we need, so I’ve removed the donation link from the top post, but I may or may not intermittently accept a couple more (with proof of ownership of the film). I’ll be hard-capping us at around $1500, as I don’t think more than that will be necessary. Valeyard still has the print in Australia, and we’re hoping to get things moving sometime fairly soon, so stay tuned for further updates. I’ll send another OT-longer whenever I have more to share. Peace and love y’all! ✌🏻

Is there a way I can donate still? This project looks amazing.
Was this privately sent to the donors or was the project continued somewhere else? This looks really interesting.
I have over 1,500 movies and tv shows on UHD, blu ray and DVD. My little brother has even more.
I pm’d you
There’s a DVD rip on rutracker (5582846); isn’t that the same quality/AR as HDTV?
DVD is 480p. HDTV is 720p or 1080i.
“I remember around that time there were some HDTV version circulating that didn’t have the DNR but they seem impossible to find these days.”
Not impossible. I believe they’re still avaiable on Usenet and Rutracker.
Usenet: Maybe, I’ve never been able to try it since it costs too much for me.
Rutracker: They took them down long ago, sadly.Either way, I’m a big fan of the extended versions so not a huge loss to me personally, but good if the fans have them for preservation’s sake. Fellowship was done really nicely by both 44rh1n and Dwalin.
There is a torrent of all the HDTV versions on CHDBits. Someone had actually posted the torrent from their a while ago and CHDBits killed the torrent after a few people downloaded it and then they reposted the files to their site. I don’t have access to that tracker, however you can usually find someone on Rutracker who has access to whatever tracker you need something from. Just go and ask.
Could you please explain what this HDTV version is?
A recording of the movies as they played on TV

Hey dude, can we dm, regarding this reel?
I sent you a dm
Just an update: I touched base with gweedo16 and a new encode is being developed. For participators and the newly interested, expect a post Christmas PM with an update.
These encodes take time and this is the timeline.
Hey Falcon, I can donate as well.
I’ve seen much worse, and I’m far more worried about the quality of the actual film itself than the color fade. Also I’ve never seen a full print of the original Planet of the Apes. Only people selling an incomplete version with a few reels, and other Planet of the Apes films. Do you have an archived link to the sale of that print?
It may be too badly faded for the color to recover even with the best possible scan. Even the best scanners in the world cannot cannot get full color separation because it’s just not possible with today’s technology. This is what the spectrum looks like with unfaded film:
Once that yellow peak has faded below magenta it can’t come back, not at the moment anyway and quite possibly never.
Lots of faded films can still scan though and recover good color, it just all depends on the extent of the fade.
And yes I can show you the ad send me a private message.
