IVTC with FCP
Time
I'm kind of new to Final Cut Pro. The version I use is 4.5 HD. What I'm trying to do is, to do an IVTC of a non-progressive mastered NTSC DVD, so I can recut it without nasty combing.
Problem is, don't know how to do it. Everytime I click on "undo pulldown in clip" FCP says, that there wouldn'd be any clip with pulldown.
Okay, that's correct, because the clip has no 3:2 flags, the pulldown is hard encoded.

What am I missing here? Do I need an additional filter?

Nosferatu, A Symphony Of Horror (The Super Castlevania IV Score) - COMPLETED/UPLOADED!
Time
WinZip (I think version 10 not yet)
WinRAR
.sit
.tar

But I think my download is just broken, because I installed 7-zip in my virtual maschine and it said it can't recognise it.
7-zip is not really a good format. Even at my workplace, we always get problems with 7-zip files sent to us by customers, even if we install the program.
I'll redownload, maybe it's really broken.

WinRAR is IMHO the best way to go. It can be uncompressed on virtually every OS.

DVDShrink DVD9 to 2 DVD5?
Time
May be a weird question, but I've once read (well, actually I think I've read it ) that DVDShrink is able to convert a DVD9 into two seperate DVD5 and keep the menu structure. Since I'm using MacOSX (and only being able to use windows in a virtual machine) I have no method of doing a short test.
So, does anybody know if this is true? Because if it is possible, then there wouldn't be any reeconding involved, so even I could use this (in a virtual machine). Basicly I don't want to ruin some of the wonderful preservations and edits I can find here by compressing them to DVD5.

To be honest, I don't have the original DVD yet, so it's kind of necessary to use your version. As soon as I got my DVD I'll have to redo everything anyway, because my edit will be based on a PAL source (which doesn't have the nasty interlacing problems). But your version is a good start anyways.
I'm also thinking about losing the entire narration at the beginning and the end (maybe some exposition in a text crawl, I don't know yet).

Perhaps I'll also change the order of some scenes. The coolest thing of course would be to establish very early in the movie, that thay plan to nuke them out, and that the family does not try to escape the tripods, but is trying to reach the arc. The scene on the river is very apocalyptic, it seems kind of fitting for such an idea. But at the moment I'm just playing with ideas, don't really know what can be done with the given material.
In the end, my version may be even longer than CBBs, because of the needed additional material

The biggest problem at the moment seens to be, that you can't to colour correction to a big extend in iMovie, so I will need Final Cut Pro for this....

He didnt say that, because that's obviously not the case. What he's saying is that by cutting off that image, you're not losing any of the actual important picture information. Parts you need to see aren't getting removed, only things that you don't.

Assuming that the frame would have to be centered

It would obviously take a lot of time for the earth to transform that much, so the search for Rachel scene could actually happen... the audience will probably not buy this time gap.

I'm still playing around with that flick. More of an accident, I cut out everything after the "parting scene" and did a fade to the end, where they go to the arc and left out all that "Ray kicks that tripods butt" crap and it workes surprisingly good. I think I'll play a little bit around with that, maybe put in some "on the way to the ark" stuff in, if I can find something that would keep the illusion.

reminds ma of a nice dubbing thing in "5th element". When the aliens arrive the first time, the archeologist says in English: "Are you German?" and in the dubbed German version he says: "Are you Aliens?" funny. Isn't it?

You should watch "Starship Troopers" in german, whole different movie

Nice work. I so love the original series. I have yet to pick up the box set. Please add footage of the Imperious Leader if at all possible. He was always one of my favorite villans. And they never showed his face clearly on the show.

They never showed him because the prosthetics were so bad. There should be a deleted scenes in the box set where you can see his face.
