Is that in both versions? I love that change!

This is more of a question of your prequel trilogy as a whole, but is the chosen one subplot changed at all in these? In my opinion it’s kinda half baked and removing it from the whole trilogy would allow for the sequels to integrate into the overall saga better since palps ends up coming back.

A small visual change I would suggest is adding some purple and yellow sabers to the geonosis battle for some background Jedi. Then you never have to ask why mace gets a special color and no one else does while also just making the battle cooler.

I would love to expand on the idea of palpatine not really being himself but more of like a sith zombie. Would do wonders for the trilogy if that could be properly explained and understood within the confines of the movie itself.

Just watched V1.1 again, and this edit has truly reinvigorated my love for the film. The restructuring allows the tension to build up naturally until Han dies, and makes this movie feel much more cohesive with the other 2 sequels as well as the originals. The only things that stood out to me were:

Jakku color grade - I know you’ve stated you’re going to go back to this, I just wanted to say that I really like the white washed out look and how it makes the planet feel different from others. It just needs some more consistency as it looks more colorful in some shots.

AI lines - I love the new voice lines but I feel like I could tell when some of them were inserted mostly because of the lipsyncing. But still great.

There’s one audio hiccup I noticed right after Rey escapes on Starkiller when Kylo senses Han, I think he says “escape” and the end seems clipped off. Not sure of the exact time stamp but worth looking.

Can’t wait for V2 when you get around to it!

I think if we could produce a community driven ROTJ edit with this thread for the 40th anniversary this year that would be awesome. Are there any other things we want to do with the movie? So far we have:

• New Boba introduction/subplot (detailed wonderfully by RogueLeader)

• New Anakin ghost/unmasking

Seeing Luke in person for the first time as a black hooded figure force choking the Gam guards is just such a good reveal for him and sets up his arc. I would love to see the saber building deleted scene redone to be on dagobah and put in the beginning though.

Those sound fantastic, I would love to see mockups of all of those.

The extended death scene I linked + the shot of Boba holding his helmet from BoBF.

My ideal cut would be something like what darthrush proposed, Hal/L8wtr’s cut with:

• no Dexter
• original title
• Spence’s training scene
• darthrush’s Naboo/kamino music transition
• extended jango shots

I remember watching the revised Yoda scene where he doesn’t take out his lightsaber but I may want to reinstate that, I’m not sure. I might try to throw this together and see what happens.

I’m no vfx wizard but I imagine it would be possible to make a clean matte of the ghosts since they phase into the shot. Then we just need a good Hayden clip, I’ve looked at some interviews and found some good ones but he’s talking in most of them. If we can manually close his lips that would work.

Since we’re discussing AOTC edits and new editions has anybody thought about including this extended Jango death scene? Only a slight difference but I would love to see this in one of these new edits with the training scene.

That would be cool, would it just be reusing empire footage with maybe an ai voice?

With ai and deepfake technology I think we could finally pull off a good ROTJ Hayden. I’ve seen a deepfake attempt on the unmasking scene but it wasn’t that good. Anyone up for it? I’ll try to find some older Hayden clips to replace the ghost.

I would try to edit that in myself and see how it works but I’m not sure I have the skill to create the transition from the crawl to the scene lol.

Hi, I started watching this episode and it’s great so far! Will post my thoughts once finishing it. One thing I would argue for the beginning though is to reinstate a version of the first scene, as it introduces Mando in a much cooler way. In this version, the crawl states he’s an expert bounty hunter, but the first scene we get with Din is a dinosaur wiping the floor with him. Seeing how cool he is for his first scene would do a lot, although it would add to the runtime slightly.

Somewhat unrelated, but after the Filoni movie announcement I’ve been thinking of ways to combine all these shows into one storyline - it might be cool to label the movie saga as Heir to the Empire and have the subtitle be the focus. S1 could be The Mandalorian, S2 could be The Jedi, Boba could be The Bounty Hunter, and S3 could relate to Bo. Then Ahsoka would follow a similar theme, and eventually the real movie. This way all the shows could follow one storyline with each “film” focusing on a different thing.

My ultimate TROS dream is to somehow create a scene where Finn incites a stormtrooper rebellion, and to maybe have some regular Stormtroopers fight against the red extra evil Stormtroopers at the end. Maybe a hologram message with AI voice lines?

Now that AI voices are a thing, is there anything we want to change for this version? Ascendant’s Rey nobody is already great, but I think it can hit a lot harder with some new lines. I think some kylo lines in the hangar/force fight would be the easiest place to start.

I wonder if we could AI generate a Poe line to fill that gap where he talks about light speed skipping, that was pretty much the only noticable cut in V2.

Does anybody have any plans on incorporating this in an edit? I know Bobson expressed interest in creating an AOTC ultra-extended edition (can’t wait for that!).

I have incorporated it into my own personal edit of the film which is essentially just a fanedit mashup of Hal9000’s and L8wtr’s with some of my own touches here and there, like adding in the training scene best I could and rescoring the transition from Anakin and Padme kissing to Kamino which I found to be originally a bit harsh in Hal9000’s edit.

I am quite happy with how my own personal edit turned out in regards to adding in the training scene.
