Doctor Who

It no longer has the shock of the new (new Doctor, new head writer, new companions, new Tardis, filming in HD so new texture and look, many new writers).

It has even shed most of the few things about the RTD era that the previous series hung onto.

If you go back and watch even a later David Tennant show for the most part they seem very very different (which is good because this is what the show has done since 1963).

It's certainly turned into a darker, uncomfortable less obvious place for telling it's stories.

It has a different energy to it (more Sapphire And Steel than Buffy The Vampire Slayer).

It's also nice not to have a clue were the general thrust of the story is going and not having tabloids putting shots of the finale on the front page months in advance so you can't avoid it even if you want to.

That's true, it is nice that the 'papers aren't doing that any more, but a lot of what's been happening in this series seems like a retread of plots from the last series. Like, when the one-dimensional paranoid violent woman triggered a war with the humans and the "gangers that the Doctor was trying to form a peaceful coexistence with...was that not a blatant retread of what happened with the Silurians last year when the mother of that boy offed the lizard lady and triggered the war?

God damn, I'm bored with Dr.Who this year...even the ones I've enjoyed have still been a bit boring.

It's like...enjoying your fave food but it's a fave food you've had so many times lately that it's getting monotonous. I wish they'd expand the show to some stuff they haven't already done variants on in the last couple of years.

I know the screen was positioned there to avoid having to manipulate Ewan's arm but it's more at droid/Jawa height than humanoid height and the droid computer interface would rule out the need for a screen for droids.

Actually I put the screen there because of the two little Square Hole spaces that are there.

I dunno why I couldn't post the images in the thread before

Alright, stop that, stop that. It's silly. It's really silly. It started with a nice picture about a very very very very tall building and a white rabbit, but it's gotten far too silly. I think the readers are tired of scrolling on their mouse wheels to skip this picture. Now, I for one love little rabbits, especially white ones, cause they're cute little furry creatures, although I've heard some of them can be quite vicious indeed... But skyscrapers get really annoying really fast, and this particular picture has long lost its novelty.

So, I would advise everyone to get back to posting Random Pictures, this is the Random Pictures thread, not the "Skyscraper and bunny" thread, otherwise I'll have to ask the thread to be closed.

...... Get on with it!

Would having Chancellor Valorum demanding people to "kneel before" him be funny?

Edit: although, having looked around quickly, I don't know if a decent audio clip can be found.

I think I suggested that before. If I still had the Superman 2 DVD I could probably find a good bit and extract the centre track but I don't, so I can't.

Video Games - a general discussion thread
Time

I think the main problem with it was that there wasn't a clear story to it. In Jedi Outcast each mission continued the story, whereas in Jedi Academy it was just a mishmash of 'stuff'. It's a shame really, there are alot of elements to Jedi Academy's story that would've made it a great game.

Oh and Rosh Penin was annoying as hell, he's like the jar jar binks of the OT EU universe

Like:

  • X-Wing series, XWA & TF are the best
  • KotOR
  • Dark Forces series (Jedi Academy was pretty poor though)
  • Rebel Assault series (nostalgy for me)
  • Battlegrounds
  • Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy
  • Battlefronts are okay
  • Rogue Squadron is okay
  • Republic Commando

Dislike:

  • KotOR II (I don't hate it but it's a big a disappointment, okay to play though)
  • Force Commander
  • All prequel games except Republic Commando, the worst by far is Obi-Wan

Pretty Much this. :)

Although my favourite would have to be Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast, mainly because the story feels alot more cinema-y than some of the other games. And also it's lots of fun. :D
