Watching it again last night Aliens hasn't stood the test of time anywhere near as well as Alien 3 and I never thought I'd see myself typing that.

It looks like it was made for television and the dialogue is very clunky and cheesy (more like the other sequels than the first film).

I get the impression that the only reason Newt survived so long was because the aliens wanted to stay as well away from Carrie Henn's awful screeching and terrible line delivery as possible.

It's a fun silly action film on it's own but it doesn't really work as a sequel to the first film.

Get away from the keyboard, you BITCH!

Just kidding. I do disagree, though. Aliens is a hell of an action movie and stands up quite well to me. Most of the dialogue in 80s movies might seem a little out of place today, after all.

Politicians love to have changes of heart when it ensures their survival on various issues. Just ask Mitt Romney or John Kerry!

I made the post about Santorum not so much to say that it invalidates the stance of someone who is genuinely anti-abortion, but that most politicians are full of shit on this issue (and many others) and it's sheer folly for common folk to feel empowered or inspired by the phony words the politicians spout.

Also, this story exhibits a situation in which a person who presents oneself as 100% anti-abortion in all cases (see video in my news link) will bend his/her morals and rules when a complicated pregnancy affects him/her. I connected this to my comical image above it which illustrates that people do not often practice what they preach.

Whew.

Had something to look up on youtube... then one link lead to another... and an hour passed me by. With five windows open and each video half way done buffering, I started reading comments to pass the time. Every one of, and I do mean every one of, those videos contained the phrase "until I took an arrow to the knee." in the comments. Videos ranging from instructions for removing the orange safety tip from an airsoft gun (a federal offense, by the way), to clips of Penn and Teller magic tricks, to a music video for a song that has been stuck in my head, and a few Live news bloopers. Each one containing this same phrase.

I hate memes. They take things that are actually pretty damn funny at times, and they drive them down into the ground and rape the funny out of them.

I had to look up the "arrow to the knee" meme. Skyrim. It is hilarious and ridiculous that every guard will say that same phrase. Lazy game making with hilarious consequences. Well, hilarious until idiots on the internet wear it out.

Dark Knight Rises - Now that we know the cast
Time

This movie is going to rock, no doubt. Nolan is very talented and has a good sense of storytelling. I think TDKR will give us possibly the first satisfying conclusion to a superhero saga in a quite awhile.

So many trilogies seem to end with disappointment. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Return of the King, and The Bourne Ultimatum are a couple of strong finishes I can think of. I still think ROTJ, despite its flaws, is a very solid movie but I know there are people who don't like it.

Godfather 3, Spider-Man 3, The Matrix Revolutions, X-Men 3, and others left people disappointed. If you look purely at the superhero genre, there hasn't been a single well-concluded trilogy. TDKR will give us that and hopefully culminate the superhero era which I have enjoyed but has long run its course.

On the other hand, The Avengers and The Amazing Spider-Man look terrible. Man of Steel could be interesting with Nolan producing.

Some people here have apparently not heard of pulling out.

Abortion is a touchy issue. Stupid, irresponsible people shouldn't have sex and risk pregnancy, but they do. If abortion were illegal, would it be less of a crime for these people to have kids, not care for them, neglect them, and multiply the whole cycle? What happens to all of these kids?

If abortion is legal, does it provide a tool for people to use it as contraception rather than an emergency safeguard? Does it encourage further irresponsible behavior?

There's truth to every side of the debate. There's no clear answer because everyone feels differently.

I do think it's extremely naive to limit sex to purely reproductive purposes. That risk is always there, but people don't have sex just to have babies. They do it for plenty of other reasons, whether to express love or to just bust a nut.

I'll personally never understand why people feel so strongly about abortion, one way or another. When it comes down it is a personal thing. Abortion makes for nice debate but in the grander scheme of things it's not a huge deal.

Nice post. It does come down to a personal thing, that's why I just think that the government should not intervene and let it be a personal decision. I'm completely fine with conservatives and church folk trying to encourage people to find other solutions. As I said I personally would encourage most people to give it up for adoption. But I think advice is all the further it should go. In the end I believe it should be the woman's choice.

You just can't regulate sexual activity. That's 1984/Handmaid's Tale type of shit.
