Wasn't everyone?
Even Dexter Jettster.
This guy is claiming Spielberg delayed Robopocalypse to direct SW VII.

I don't see any veracity behind the claim, but something about which to pontificate while we deliberate.
Once Were Warriors (1994)
Interesting New Zealand movie starring our very own Temuera Morrison. He shows some acting chops here as a volatile, scary man. Makes you wonder if he was underutilized in AOTC.

Hi all, back from a short break in Brighton. Anything interesting happen while I was away?
The prodigal son returns!
Nice avatar!
Sure. Those are more funny. ;)
Too many cutesy joke threads popping up.
Commence primary facepalming.

Burn that Lowry "master". Burn it and send it to hell.
Yea they mess up a classic. With color errors, crushed blacks, boosted Contrast. It's just a Cyan/yellow mess. :(
I'm too lazy to look up all those old arguments on blu-ray.com, but the blu-ray was more or less the same since it used the same Lowry print. Just a few tinkerings here and there and a slight increase in brightness.

I wonder how George proposed?
From the moment I met you, all those years ago, not a day has gone by when I haven't thought of you. You are in my very soul, tormenting me... what can I do?- I will do anything you ask: ... if you are suffering as much as I am, PLEASE, tell me.
He probably carved her a custom engagement band out of Japor Snippet.
By the way, msycamore, that's a nice post. Really shows you all the positive qualities of George, such as his honesty and consistency. I can't figure out why people criticize him. They're just haterz.
I think we need another Lucas appreciation thread!
Zero Dark Thirty
I'm not surprised this is the most hyped, overly exalted film of the year. The reasons are plentiful and don't really belong in this thread. Even without those considerations, this movie was not good. The script was bland and the character development was nonexistent. It wasn't really fiction, it wasn't really a documentary. It just felt like a disjointed collection of conference room meetings.
I wasn't expecting a Michael Bay type movie, obviously, but this film simply didn't engage me at all. Emotionally, dramatically, etc. I did my best to go in with an open mind, but within the first 5 minutes I began to realize my prior notions and impressions of the film's advertising were more or less spot on.
Can't really say more without going into all sorts of tangent discussions. Again, judging purely based on the merits of the story and its execution, Zero Dark Thirty was not a good movie (in my probably stupid opinion).
ZDT reminds me of The Amazing Spider-Man - empty and devoid of any emotion or engaging drama. But if one considers that the source material for ZDT demands emotional detachment, then that brings me to my other point. Both films felt unnecessary. One because the origin tale had been told too recently, and the other for reasons I can't really explain succinctly. But again, without digressing it's not hard to figure out why this movie was made. And while Bigelow was working on and researching an OBL movie before May 2011, the reason for making the movie is largely the same.
George became engaged today. Congratulations to him. :)
I'm curious, though. Will his bride to be mind when, after 10 years of marriage, he asks for her wedding ring back because he wants to modify it to fit the image of the original ring he had in mind?
Burn that Lowry "master". Burn it and send it to hell.
Samsara
Beautiful follow up to Baraka. One of the best documentaries of the year, but the non-narrative style may not be for all.
The 3D releases of the OT special editions would be in early 2015, just like the 1997 SE releases were in February and March.
That would build up some excitement for the new movie, which presumably would be in May. Might be a little cluttered, though.
I don't know. Either way I'll regard 3D releases of Star Wars as I do any other 3D movie - with a lack of interest.
Even Master Yoda's count isn't that high!
I liked Thorin. However, as unfair as it is to compare, during the film I couldn't help think a few times how much more badass Aragorn is.
Yea the originals aren't going to come out until the 3D theatrical releases of the special editions. Those are slated for 2015, I think, so 2017 sound about right.
Or it could go like this:
2013 - 3D theatrical releases of AOTC and ROTS
2014 - 3D blu-rays of prequels
2015 - 3D theatrical release of OT special editions
2016 - 3D blu-rays of OT special editions
2017 - blu-rays of UOT
Gotta stretch everything out and keep that cash coming in while teasing the faint hope of the end prize.
I want this jacket.

KTLA in Los Angeles is showing the 1983 Rose Parade right now. Thought I was in a time warp for second there!
I can't wait for the sequel to The Empire Strikes Back!
Will they rescue Han? Will Luke go to the dark side?
It's going to be amazing!
I'm not so crazy about the title. Since when do Jedi seek revenge? ;)
And what does "Blue Harvest" mean? Is it blue milk that they're harvesting? Does that mean Aunt Beru is actually alive?
