Nah, I think there was some kind of high-pitched G-string... err... strings playing a high G or something?
I remember it because when the lightsabers light up, they start buzzing at the same note... although it'd be funny if I remembered it wrong :D

But yea, the lack of loud music is better for the suspense, as well :)

Actually, those were synthetic strings, added by the editors/sound designers, much like the choir in AOTC's "Knowledge of the Force"/"Yoda vs. Dooku"/'Yoda Strikes Back"

On the second link, I guess I still prefer Jar Jar's introduction to be less epic, but it's quite okay :)

Might be an editing issue, but at the beginning of the invasion sequence, I quite like how, in the movie, the ships fly by the camera with nothing but percussion (the combination with the engine glissando doe sit) accompanying the scene, the orchestra joining only after the shot.

Aside from those, can't pinpoint any differences to the original atm... :)

the music when the queen appears on the viewing screen is extended a bit.

The "Gas Leak" scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=590dquz3kPQ&feature=player_embedded

Blimey, I still find the final version better :D

This one seems to have some editing / timing issues towards the middle, but I'm mainly referring to the first 10 seconds or so :)

the those first 10 seconds in that video are silent in the film ;)

and here is the queen amidala scene (there are only some minor differences) and the droid invasion scene which was dialed out in the film, and had a portion missing on the OST: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1H284Q7N8ZY

Btw, a little off-topic, but if you want to a REAL "hacking up" of a music piece in a movie, look no further than the X2 opening.

Now compare to Mozart's original:

They cut out parts and it sounds horrible :D

I don't think thats hacking it up, I think thats a composer's arrangment of the piece for his score, or, he was subliminally inspired by the piece and forgot that it had already been written.

Ah, many thanks for that!
(Always wanted to transcribe the Hangar music, so this may come in handy, as well :D)

Although I have to say, I kinda prefer the film version.
The music only setting in when the army is activated fits better than the same music setting in when they're basically standing around thinking what to do next.

Also prefer the "epic reveal" of Darth Maul, and the space battle opening has a more effective call-and-response when switching to the enemy ships.

This one would've worked, too, though, in a different way, and I like alternate takes and experimentation, so cool :D

2 things to consider:

1: this video is a bit outdated, more info has turned up, and more sections/cues have also turned up.

2: there is still some stuff missing, so this may not entirely reflect how the cut may have originally worked.

The Geonosis arrival scene was taken from the TPM opening, the Jedi battle from the Podrace (which didn't make it into the film), Yoda's arrival from the existing Podrace score (not sure if entirely, but the first few minutes for sure), and the AniPad love theme may have been used elsewhere, too.

The droid factory had its own track, though ;)

Here is a version of the Naboo sequence with the original music for you and all germans ;) http://www.multiupload.com/B7KRYILIF6

Not so sure. The OOT is his only "special feature" left. The current Blu-ray set has a treasure chest of deleted scenes (albeit looking like dogshit). Whatever he releases next on whatever format, it needs to have an extra incentive to buy it. The OOT is that incentive.

Actually, there is another special cra... ahem, feature... left. The dreaded Holiday Special. Hell, he might even special edit it!

Info & Ideas: ESB and ROTJ Wishlist

okay, here is a ROUGH (and i mean rough) idea for an alternative dagobah opening/early scene. i was thinking perhaps placed after vader first visits the death star. this would also precede yoda dying, although the possibility of of breaking the two scenes up with some of the jabbas palace story would work.

this would follow the assumption that luke has been training since ESB, and that building his lightsaber is the final stage of his training. throughout the scene yoda would be weezing and showing signs of extreme old age. also some recoulourng/tweeking would be needed to alter lukes appearance so its less obvious where it is sourced from.

i had the idea after finishing though, that enstead of yoda giving luke the crystal, perhaps we could also see yoda's lightsaber de-constructed (assuming he had one and never lost it) so there would be an element of master-apprentice handing down.

i think the lighting could be better tweakied, so it is in almost complete darkness, so when the lighsaber is lit, the scene is flooded with green light. POW.

excuse the music, i think something more sombre would work much better in hindsight....

Wow! if this would have been done by LFL originally.....ROTJ could have had the (one of?)? most Iconic scene in the Trilogy!

and as for the music, you could use "The Levitation/Threepio's Bedtime Story" for this "scene"
