What do you mean "do carts", if you are gathering carts in a parking lot I would not recommend using headphones because you have to be listening for cars that speed across those things. I've seen a couple of folks get hit already in parking lots.

What he constantly tries to point out is that we are currently in a war between Traditionalists and secular progressives. The invasion from the south is part of this broad war, the secular progressives want these illegals to be here and stay forever. Other goals of secular progressives is the elimination of Christmas, God in school, God in government, furtherance of gay marriage, and basically the complete oppression of the conservative viewpoint. In this sense of the culture war ideology O'Reilly points out stuff to the public that many liberal media outlets either do not want you to know or are scared to show because it does not jive with their goals.

Yes, those are all cultural issues, but they aren't necessarily original ideas. I know of conservatives who were concerned with those issues long before O'Reilly was. And even then, those issues aren't the end of the world. There are more important things out there. When it comes to the core problems which give birth to these issues, I've seen O'Reilly argue for the wrong side many times (or at least have no clue what he's talking about). If you find his show valuable, however, I won't attack that; I'm just explaining why I don't like it.

Cool.

I'm about the re-build my system. Only things I'm adding is a new dual core AMD 4400+ (yes, I know it's two year old tech now) which I got from newegg for $70.I'm also chucking in a 550 watt Thermaltake PSU and a new Western Digital Caviar 500 GB drive. I figure this'll be my last, and only, re-build on this motherboard, an Asus A8V-Deluxe, until I upgrade in about a year or two. I'm gonna of course put a fresh install of my Windows XP Pro as usual. If I ever do go Vista, it will have to be my next complete build and it will have to be the SP2 Vista.

GOD DAMMIT SEAN WOOKIE!!! Sorry but it's the same word I had to say something again!

Dude, you're going to have to give up or just stop using the Internet. It's a losing battle. Trying to correct everyone's spelling and grammar mistakes is only going to make you go insane.

Back OT. I watch O'Reilly just about everyday. I've honestly only seen him try to "spin" a couple of things in a different light. Most of the time, he asks yes or no questions about hot bed political issues and gets really long answers from the person he's interviewing. Case in point, he asked one of the people from a group that protects illegal immigrants if she thought it was ok for people to cross our borders illegally. She kept answering that all people are protected by the 4th amendment. This all had something to do with a household of illegal immigrants that the government busted into and essentially hauled people off to be deported. So basically, she wouldn't answer the question. From her answer, I gather that her opinion is that once you cross the border, illegally or not, you're protected by the 4th amendment, which is bullshit.

The only other time I've seen him "spin" an issue is when a house full of possible illegals caught fire and some children died. It was in New York and they basically have a local ordinance that says the cops can't do anything to investigate possible illegals. It was essentially a case where the house was totally overcrowded beyond what local zoning laws allow, but they were looking the other way because New York is a sanctuary city.

I don't think that was spin, that was his perception, spin is usually confused with perception.

I'd say yes, but not in the way that Bill O'Reilly would define it methinks.

Like how?

Well, in a sense, culture "wars" go on all the time and in every society throughout our planet and throughout history. There are always different practices and different ideas all battling for dominance. While these types of concerns have often lead to real wars between societies, you can't really say that sort of thing is happening right now with the Untied States. (Though perhaps having millions upon millions of illegal immigrants pour into our culture, from a heavily clashing culture, could be considered a cultural act of war on this level.) On the small scale, however, I believe we can say that there are many incompatible philosophies and truths desperately trying to win over our hearts and minds. This is a war of sorts with many different warriors.

Bill O'Reilly is not someone I generally disagree with. My problem is more with his attitude and his approach to the truth. He likes to say how he's free of "spin," but all I ever see him doing is incessantly spinning every issue to make himself look so incredibly smart and so incredibly sensible. Part of that is obviously a joke on his part, but most of it actually isn't and I honestly don't find him all that genuinely smart or sensible. That's why I call him a jackass. Simply watch him for a while and you'll see how on every issue, no matter how clear cut, he'll go way out of his way to try finding some sort of middle ground where he can call both sides of an issue extreme or incorrect and make himself seem above the "spin" of it all, and it bugs the hell out of me. He thinks that everyone should want to do what he says because his common sense is so damn balanced and intelligent. If anyone dares question him, then you'll see him get truly worked up. Well, I for one don't buy that bullshit of his and would prefer to get my commentary from an authentic mind.

All of that is why I believe O'Reilly deserves to be made fun of. That said, however, it is sad that our society takes humorous falsehoods to be gospel truth (as lordjedi pointed out). I don't necessarily blame Colbert for that however (and I certainly don't think his show is a bad thing), I mostly blame our society for being at a point where it makes stupid leaps of judgment when it obviously should not.

For me, I generally see two culture wars going on in the English-speaking world that are of top priority for us to handle. The first is between people who believe that the truth is something which should be struggled for with old-testament-style zeal and people who think that we should moderate and even attack our ability to pursue the truth. The second is between people who believe that private property and liberty are sacred and people who believe those same qualities should regularly be negotiated away for the sake of comfort and peace. I firmly believe that both of these cultural problems stem from an improper view of and approach to God in the English speaking world (but that's a complicated can of worms I'm not going to even try detailing at the moment).

Lest we forget that Colbert is a liberal in wolf's clothing. His act is to constantly satire those from the serious end of the cable news industry. He actually takes things as he believes O'Reilly would do and runs with them. If, this farce were pulled off and it did happen, as in Man of the Year, I don't think anyone would be laughing anymore once they see him walk up to the podium and, totally out of character, begins talking about the reasons we should have a socialized health care system. Maybe I'm taking this too serious. I like Colbert, but let's face it, he mocks everything we on the right hold dear. He is good at it, many on the right don't even realize he is mocking them.

Are that many people on the right that stupid? I've watched his show a couple of times and honestly, I don't think he's good at it at all. He's more of a caricature of how a liberal might view a conservative than anything else. The way he acts isn't even extreme, it's just stupid. He hardly acts like any other conservative would. I realize that he thinks he's mocking Bill O'Reilly, but as someone who watches O'Reilly on a pretty regular basis, he acts like someone who just wants to twist how O'Reilly really is in order to make him look dumb. IMO, that just makes Colbert look even dumber.

Between the Daily Show and the Colbert Report, I pretty much don't watch Comedy Central from 8-9pm just because it is so stupid. I'm honestly surprised so many young people actually watch it for "news" since it's really anything but. Of course, that would explain on the misinformation that's out there.

I like Colbert, he does some funny stuff. But my perception is that there are so many politically illiterate people out there that wouldn't have any idea what a conservative really is and walk away from Colbert thinking that he pretty well sums them up, even though he don't come close. He is a satire, I see it, you see it, but idiots like Bill Maher don't. I rarely watch the Daily Show, Stewart as increasingly gotten worse over the past couple of years of constantly knocking the war and the President, even if he has a good point there is only so much of it you can listen to. I also watch O'Reilly everyday, despite the fact the lefties in Hollywood label him a hardcore Conservative, I don't think he is. I seem him as more of a traditionalist. I don't disagree with too much he says except his stance against the Death Penalty. Anyone who faces evil in the eye and or loses a loved one to these sickos, knows the death penalty is necessary and essential.

Good luck to you lovebirds. Have fun, and spend as much money as you possibly can. If you don't come back owing a bookie it probably wasn't worth it.

Seriously, you two have fun, cherish each moment, each second, every step you take, lock it to your mind, rememeber it all, because the memories, and being close to that special person, is the reason we do these things.

Well, I guess I'm going to have to upgrade to XP soon. I recently bought an HD camcorder (Sony HC-7). Win2000 will read the DV files if I down-rez them, but I apparently need XP to read the native HD DV video.

Sucks.

Well, XP works like a charm for me. I'm sure you will like it. When I re-install XP I always make a lite version using nlite. That way I remove all the crap I don't need/want. With nlite you can also do stuff like turning system restore off, entering the key, creating an account, setting up the network etc. You can also integrate service packs, hotfixes and other updates. I end up with an windows setup ISO of about 160mb with a lot of settings already as I want them, saves a lot of time especially if you don't have to download and install all the updates the normal way. I love windows XP lite .

I think what you can do to speed up your re-installs is the next time you re-install windows and tweak it to your liking, do a complete back-up of it in it, then from that point on when you want to fresh install just install the back-up of your tweaked Windows XP Lite and you'll be going along quickly.

Those look nice. I had no idea there were so many different saber handles (mostly from the PT, I guess). I thought I'd be able to identify all of the OT sabers- but there are a few that look sort of similar (and of course the names don't give you any hints).

There are many different Parks Sabers handles. There are not that many different OT lightsaber handles. DO NOT CONFUSE parksabers with LICENSED sabers. Parks Sabers are NOT licensed. There's a reason the saber handles look almost like what you'd find in the prequels and OT. They are his own designs. There's also a reason they're called Parks Sabers all over that site and not lightsabers. He can't use the term lightsabers.

Even at the conventions, when people tell you about their Parks Sabers, they'll use the term Parks Saber. They do that because Jeff Parks (as well as others) has continuously informed them that they are Parks Sabers, not Lightsabers.

Kind of sad that our world is so full of this crap, where you have to word yourself a certain way to avoid a group of lawyers showing up at your door. Especially something that is such a lexicon of our language now, regardless of who came up with and licensed it. Hell, even my Dad knows instantly what I mean when I say "lightsaber" and he is far from what I'd consider a Star Wars fan.

I'm 31 years old but this Gizzy was my (and our) first proper pet. The kicker to this whole thing is that we got a new kitten last friday, a little noisy 6 week old shitbag. Obviously, at first, Gizzy was a bit put out by this, however just yesterday he was slowly starting to come round, but now my girlfriends is stricken with guilt over the possibility that he died feeling replaced and unhappy.

The bright side is that he came from a rescue home, so at the very least the life we gave him (he was one spoilt cat) was a lot better that the one he was due to have

I see no reason for you or your girlfriend to be guilty. He was a cute happy fat cat, he lived a great life. I'm sure he was smart enough to know he wasn't being replaced, the fact that he was slowly starting to come around is a great sign, that would indicate to me that he accepted the addition to the family, knew it was no threat to him, and now had to figure out how to establish his superiority and dominance. He was already over that "feeling replaced" feeling, believe me I've had cats my whole life. Always one or two even since I was a baby. I've had Sulley for right at 6 years now, Savannah just got added this May. I went through all of that and I assure you Gizzy didn't die with pain in his heart, he was mearly plotting how he was gonna show this kitten who's boss. You call that new kitten a shitbag now, but you'll feel the same way about that one soon I'm sure.

I heard this story that made me lol

I was in the 9th grade and asked one of the cute cheerleaders out on a date. She said no and I asked why.

She told me I was a worthless nerd who would do nothing important and she could do much better than me without trying.

The next year she got knocked up and dropped out of school. The baby daddy was sent to prison for grand theft auto, and she currently works 2 jobs to barely make ends meet.

I saw her at the grocery store a month ago and asked how she was doing. She told me how she was and asked how I was. I told her about my career and I laughed at her and said, "Who is the worthless nobody now?"

I actually had almost this same thing happen to me. When I was in school I was a fat nerd who didn't achieve much, I was always too busy playing my guitar, writing music, studying music, or working on computers. This one bitch I knew actually walked up to me one day when we were in about the 8th grade and for no damn reason immaturely said "You're ugly and you will always be fat and ugly and that's why no one wants to hang around you, plus you're weird!" Well needless to say she was the one of the popular girls whose grandparents owned everything in my small Texas town and she did anything she wanted and got away with it. What she said really hurt me at the time, I remember it bothering me that night when I tried to go to sleep. We went our ways, and I stayed myself, haven't changed much except I shed that baby fat and I am a sleek 180 lbs now. I got a good paying job, got to play a few gigs here and there, got gorgeous wife, and everything I ever wanted like a 1958 Cadillac, a Manuel Rhinestone suit, several pairs of boots, and a big house. Well, I saw that bitch one day at the grocery store lugging her babies out of the back seat carriers from her P.O.S. 1994 Honda Accord, the same car she had when we graduated in 1998, she was still in it in 2005. Come to find out the IRS came into town a few years before and seized everything that wasn't nailed down that they used to own, apparently her granddaddy was evading taxes. She lost her stroke in town and had moved in with a loser who knocked her up quickly with three kids and now she was getting W.I.C. and welfare. Well, there I was in my '58 Black Caddi and I rolled by her slowly, I had all by best duds on, my wife in the passenger seat who was completely gussied up, two guitars in the back, I looked at that bitch till she noticed me and I gave a sly grin, looked over at my wife and then back her, and I said " I'd better get away from you cause you're ugly!" I pressed that gas pedal down and propelled out of the parking lot with a smile on face and my wife in my arms. That was my big "go F you" moment that I will always treasure.
