Zion are you going with the DVD+R DL approach or the infirior (in terms of storage space) DVD+R/DVD-R?

I think you should go with the DVD+R DL discs, to maximize the quality of the source and to incorparate goodies..... like the motion menu that you are working on.... very nice job!

The ones that find the DVD+R DL discs to be to big or a problem can always shrink them with appropriate software. So the will fit on a DVD+R/DVD-R.

Keep up the good work!

Edit: Went thru the last pages of this thread and saw that you are going for the DVD+R DL approach so my question is not relevant any more.....

- That SET is LAME - the cover lacks any style and the transfer is poodoo right? $30 MAYBE if it was a WAY better set but I still say that $15 for 4 discs is the most fair price if you have no other way to get them - The fact is MOST people STILL do not have the bandwidth that is required to get the torrents of the films.

- So DO you all think I should also upload a Torrent version of the Row47 as a companion to DarthOsor upload? As some folks DO NOT know how to use alt.binaries.starwars (myself included ) OR should I wait a bit longer for one of the XO projects? Should Darth Osor and Lord Blaksvn actually PLAN this out?

HOW will these two "masked" avengers get these posted?!

TUNE in true believers to the next thrilling posts.....

Here's what's happening on my end...

- Right now I'm posting Tremors v.1 on alt.binaries.starwars

- WookieGroomer will be posting split-screen RoTJ this weekend

- I'll be posting TR47 ESB for WookieGroomer after Tremors v.1 is complete (about 86 hours or so)

- After TR47 ESB I'm doing a quick post of "When Star Wars Ruled The World" (349megs)

Sooo, this takes me well into next week time-wise.

What would be cool is if there was a coordinated release of the Rowman set both on myspleen and on alt.binaries.starwars. I can help you seed them too. I set my usenet upload speed to only 40K/sec so I don't flood the newsgroup and also so I have spare bandwidth to get and send torrents and surf the web and whatnot.

There are a lot of cross-over folks who follow along both here and on usenet. Also, I make many references to both OT.com and myspleen in my postings so maybe we can actually build a larger group of die-hards.

My 2 cents: One can never have too many sets of the OT on DVD (I currently have 4) so I think that it would be great if the Rowman set got 'out there' before the XO project comes out (I can't wait) so that way folks have time and bandwidth to absorb it all.

Man, isn't this a great time to be a fan? I never could have imagined. I'm so happy that I stumbled across this board. Thanks to everyone!

This is very good news...... this must be the "era"of the fans.....

I mentioned in here, and on usenet (alt.binaries.starwars) that I found those raunchy DVDRs of the OT being posted on usenet in alt.binaries.dvd. To make a long story short the set is utter "poodoo". I have gotten 2 requests in 2 days on alt.binaries.starwars to post this OT that I somehow miraculously 'found'.

I want to post the TR47 set. This is the single best rendition of the OT so far IMO. Are there any objections? All applicable .nfo files will be included.

Let me know. In the meantime I am also contemplating posting on alt.binaries.starwars (lots of 'fan film' requests) Tremor vol 1...RiK, do you mind?

If I get tacit approval I'll be posting Tremors v1 (10%par2) and then TR47 (10%par2) to alt.binaries.starwars on usenet.

Thanks gang.

p.s. Word to all Spookies!

Do you have the Row47 set?

Or to hiphats...I'd like to see this too.

P.S. Null in this case is slang for "answer back".

I sure would like to see the rest of the set for completions sake.....

I'm thinking on offering up an audio cd version that I made of the Rebel Mission to Ord Mantell 33" record from the early 80's on myspleen.

Would people be interested in this? If so ill post up myspleen and see if i can get uploader status or maybe Rikter will be willing to upload it if i get him a copy. Let me know if there is interest enough and ill bring it up on myspleen.

That sounds very good!

I do understand that you (Jay) can get very busy and I know that you do not and cannot dedicate ALL your time in this forum and I most humbly suggest you do get at least 2 MODS. A good MOD can spot trouble and deal with it via suspensions and bans (PLUS they can Edit and delete inflammatory threads) a FEW good MODS and all trouble stops. (or is only seen for a day or so)

mod·er·a·tor Audio pronunciation of "moderators" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (md-rtr)
n.

1. One that moderates, as:
1. One that arbitrates or mediates.
2. One who presides over a meeting, forum, or debate.

(I would offer my services but with family and a short temper for the clueless - I'd be a not-so-good MOD )

You are quite a problem solver RiK, get some Mods in here to tighten things up a little.... Good tip!

Hi Laserman!

I have just recently seen this very interresting thread about your X0-project, it sounds to be the DEFINITIVE version of the OT on DVD. I would be more than happy to support you in your effort to bring us this fine work, finacially or with other means if possible.

I am sorry to hear that you are closing the project down. But the lack of interrest could be the recent holiday. People have been with their families and so forth.

This DanielB guy is spoiling to much of the good stuff in here.......... DanielB why dont you leave this forum? You dont seem to like anything in here anyway!

Ps. Laserman I really hope you will revive the X0-project, because this is to good to be true! Ds.

Why this stupied bickering?

Just accept that people have different viewpoints!

And DanielB dont critisize peoples efforts let them do what ever they want with their different sets, if you arent making one yourself be glad that there are people who do. The time and money that is invested in a good transfer is huge!

So please dont alienate the contributers of the diffrent set that are out. I like them all, I have the OT, SE and SE2004.
Without the members of this forum I would be stuck with my old VHS tapes.

I want to thank all forum members who have and will do new SW sets.

I would even get a SW set where they had edited out C3P0, because I still have a couple of sets of the OT already!

Do not cut the hand off that feeds you............ that is plain stupied!

regardless of how the source was originally created, if you have an interlaced capture file, unless you deinterlace it, it will be nigh on impossible to run filters on it to sharpen or improve the image further as most filters for avisynth and vdub are designed to work with a progressive non-interlaced sourec.

so even if it looks fine on your PC screen, it is still interlaced. to smooth, sharpen or do anything else you will need to deinterlace to get it back to a non interlaced progressive source file.

eg Star wars on LD PAL.

25fps interlaced file, deinterlace back to 25fps progressive.

Star Wars on LD NTSC

29.97fps NTSC interlaced file, IVTC back to 23.97fps progressive using deinterlace and frame decimation.

that's my read on this situation.

tellan is right on the money!

Wow, I actually figured this out.

Long story short, the code in that thread creates a mini program that allows you to input values for the capture card's advanced settings. The only thing is, the values have to be entered in hexidecimal format. Took me a while to figure that out, but I've got it tweaked so that I'm not clipping off the sides anymore. (yay me)

zion would you like to help me out with that program? I also have a CX23881 based card, the Leadtek Winfast TV2000 Expert. The one you had before you got your new one...

I am doing a VHS-rip of "the unauthorised star wars story" and would like to caputre thoose missing pixels so I dont need to resize at all.

Is it possible?

Thanks in advance!
