Blade Runner HDTV (Released)

the only reason this existed in the first place was because the earlier dvd release was shit, as far as i know that's why jay allowed it.

i sure hope the criterion cut will appear on an official dvd release, but i doubt any of the special features will be preserved. I also doubt that cuts going to be on the 3 disc set. as far as i know it's going to be a restored theatrical, the restored director's cut, and a brand new cut being prepared for theatrical release.

the euro cut was never released here except by criterion exclusively and i have never heard whether or not this was appoved by Ridley or just the studio.

That's the only reason why I did my version of the HD version. The other release was absolute crap. I deleted the torrent when it was released.

The Euro cut added brief scenes of violence. check IMDB.

2) Where do people here generally frequent besides Myspleen and Demonoid?

1) why bother? the new 3 disc set is coming out this year that will incorporate everything.

2) i'm not sure we're allowed to discuss, are we?

Having recently aquired a new Betamax machine, i am in the process of scanning ALL of my old tapes and I am coming up with some real finds. One clip is from the show 'Entertainment USA' from the eighties. Filmed in San Antonio it is a 3 or 4 minute clip of convicted paedophile Jonathan King interviewing Henry Thomas (Elliot from E.T). The clip is currently in DV PAL format (around 350mb i think). If anyone has an upcoming related project and would like the clip, let me know via this thread.

I'm doing an ET DVD or two coming up. I'd love it.

No problem mate. I'll get it to you. Any news of those discs you were sending me?

I want to get everything together so i can do one package. i have a bunch of stuff!

NOW RELEASED: The Godfather: 1901-1980 Epic Edit

I have the official VHS edition of all 3 in Chronological order, but the quality is mediocre and I'm not sure if it has ALL the footage out there. I'd love to see it on DVD. My brother has I & II as the Complete Epic (again on VHS), and the additions were slightly different. Also, in the official DVD release the extra scenes contain credits to Part I with Kay at Church (like the book). I'd love to see that included. PLEASE let me know if this is edit still in progress. Thanks.

The official set is L A M E. All it did was include the deleted scenes as they are in the TV version (hence the credits). They couldn't have been more lazy.

It's all Dolby Digital 2.0 and I have no issues with recording in HQ at a little over and hour and then splicing the material together to make one file or if I decide to upgrade my recorder, just record to a dual layer disc and then do the editing on my computer. Besides, I don't know of any other way to do it seeing as how the box can't be hooked up to my computer to transfer the data. If anyone knows any tips and tricks to doing this, please let me know and I will do it just to get the best quality I can get.

Which recorder do you have?

There are only a handful that actually have component inputs. You're not going to be able to upgrade at this point.

Did you have anything planned for it? It might contain useful material for a 70mm mix re-creation (you and Molly should talk, if you haven't already ).

Do you have the japanese laserdisc of TPM? Apparently the 5.1 mix on that disc is more powerful and has better dynamics than the mix that was on the DVD (you could speculate that it was the true theatrical mix, downsampled to 384kbps, rather than the "remixed for the home" effort that was used on the DVD). Therefore, the optimum TPM fan-authored DVD - for those so inclined - would contain HD2DVD downconverted video (because the original video on the NTSC DVDs suffered horrendous edge-enhancement) combined with the AC-3 track sourced from the laserdisc. Just an idea...

GREAT idea.

No.

There's a reason why I don't do MP3's of commentaries and such.

I am not 100% certain if that is the best way to do it, but it's the only way I know how and I don't think my DVR box, made by Scientific Atlanta, will allow me to transfer directly to my computer in any shape, way or form. If anyone has any input on how I should go about doing this, please let me know because I want to get the BEST quality I can possibly get. Thanks!

This is not the way to do it.

You're only going to get a 4x3 non-anamorphic single-layer version unless you have component inputs on your recorder and are prepared to break this into two and do some work.

Sorry but it would be pretty worthless.

The place and person I told you about yesterday, JD? He might have it, and I know for sure he has the other video I mentioned. Seriously, look him up - I'm sure he'd be glad to help, and his collection of 'Raiders' items is unsurpassed by anyone.

How come no one let me know

I have a ton of stuff that I still haven't "released" yet.

I would really wait until next year. I have a feeling we're going to have some re-releases on the DVD's and apparently Lucasfilm is readying a "making of" book on the trilogy. I'm sure there's a crapload more coming.

That was my intention but these things take a long time to create. I thought I might start collecting material now. Can anyone come up with a definitive list of behind the scenes video of Raiders?

haha...basically anything i've released.

JD, have you contacted thewizard_7 about a possible mix-up? Also, did anyone else request a copy?

I emailed him twice but got no reply. I will try again tomorrow. Still chasing the other leads.

I am visiting someone who was directly involved with the trilogy next week. Who knows what's in his library. Yes, I will be asking!
