So I made a new Version based on your feedback where I fixed some of the Stuff you mentioned.
-I cleaned the Fade from Leia to the Ceremony Room
-I modified the Colors and Contrasts

So now why Leia is Front and Center… or better Why Luke Isn’t:
For me one of the Main-focuses is the Story of the Skywalkers.
So the three most important Characters are Luke, Leia and Darth Vader - with a even stronger emphasis on Luke and Vader.

For those two I had the plan of a Ying and Yang Concept…

• The left Side: Blue Background with Orange Main Character at the Top
• The right Side: Orange Background with Blue Main Character at the Top

and for Leia…

• In the Middle: The Character that Kicked off everything through sending the Droids to Kenobi… with a Blue/Orange/Purple Background

I need some Feedback from you Guys…

At the Moment I am working on my own Box Set for the Original Trilogy.

For that I wanted a nice Cover that does not only represent one Movie, or shows a generic Darth Vader Helmet/Lightsaber, but has Elements of all three Movies while still reminding of the old Movieposters and not the modern Photoshop DVD Covers.
To be honest I have not found one I liked… so I had to make one myself, I would realy like comments and Feedback if possible 😃

That Image has many Problems… I played with it my self, and the CMYK Marks are helping, but they are faded and not consistent (look at the Magenta ones at the Bottom they are much brighter than on the top) to make things worse there are a lot of JPG Artefacts in that Images…

so depending on the mark you choose to calibrate your image you will get an different result…

also there is an reflection of some sort in the lower right… thats also responsible for the color change in the Logo it self…

the guy that mad the original Star Wars Cover also did a version withou the emperor, that might be useful for you…

Hey, as I said those Covers are not 100% finished yet (for example we sourced a better Version of the Empire Cover that I will have to clean up)… They are more or less previews.
unfortunately some other Projects came in the way so that I will need more time as planned to finish the Project. 😦

BUT! If you want them - I can send you the Covers as they are with english titles… They already look nice and have a good Quality - I already printed them for myself.
I think that would be the Best way to go… you can always change them later when i upload the final Version anyway 😉

would you want german or english Text on the back?
I used the Text from the first German VHS Version for those Covers and It would take some time to find fitting english Versions.

I loved the new Characters too
I think they are the strongest assets of the movie, the dynamic and chemestry was just right.

to be honest i think the complete Beginning of the Movie up to the Space Monster Scene on Hans Ship was just perfect in more or less every way.
It was beautiful shot, nicly timed (not to fast not to slow), the interaction between Fin and Rey was just right…
The Beginning in the small Village showed a nice potrait of Poe and the first Order, and told us that evil menacing bad guys are back in Star Wars 😉

I realy liked the Battle visuals on the Ground as well as in the air… the had a nice realistic (sometimes even gritty) Feeling.

I totaly loved the X-Wing battle in the middle… the mix of Dogfight and Ground Battle was totaly awsome (yes I am a big X-Wing geek… sorry 😉 ) and that long “Poe is the best pilot of the Resistance”-Shot WOW!!!

They did a very good job to show where our old Heros stand today… every development of them is believable - they also felt right.

I am working on a own BluRay Set…
<iam using the Posters I grew up with for that set… also the Original german Titles, I want to add Booklets and a nice Box Layout.
Right now i have only an very early unfinished preview of the BluRay Covers

I would also do an localized english Version for the Members of this Board if anybody would be interested.

I realize that there are other Covers that use the same Elements as mine, but I tried to give them some personal details.
Also I always loved that ESB Cover, that nobody has used here before (I think…).

I think you can have both… an fast paced fun action flick… and an movie that explains important stuff.

for example the Scene in Star Wars with Tarkin, Vader and all the Generals on the table helped a lot to explain the Status Quo to the Audience without slowing the movie down… it gave us Background to the Force, Vaders Role in the Empire, the Goverment and a lot more stuff…

I think we all agree that we do not want an dry lifeless wreck like the prequels with endless debates… but small scenes and good visual story telling can make a hell of a difference.

but to be honest I also don’t think we needed explaination for the lightsaber at that point of the movie.
but agree that i think the movie gave us to little background for some stuff…

It’s funny, in germany the situation is totally different.
They added the episode Titel for the first time in the late 90s so most people knew it just as star wars… Back than if you called it “a new hope” most people just got confused.

I am not very emotional about the Titel I think it makes sense to add it trilogy wise so that every episode has its own Titel… But most of the time it is just star wars for me.

I didn`t like that we do not get any details about the status of the galaxy…

What is the new Republic, is it the new legitimate government? So why is there a need for an resistance if you are teamed up with the government anyway… And resisting what?
Is there no Republic military?
I don’t want to much detail but some Infos to not get lost.
It felt as if they wanted to establish that the status quo is the same as in the ot … In the laziest way possible.

Also I think that the last act is a littlebit to cluttered and fast passed, it seemed confusing and forced that way.
5 more minutes of background, meaning and explanation could have worked wonders here.
For example the awakening of r2 seemed like the strangest coincidence ever for me. When a short shot of ray entering the room or something could have cleared things up without slowing the movie down.

The last thing I realy didn’t like was the spacemonster scene on hans ship, I got an mib2 vibe from that and it felt unnecessary like they just wanted to show of the cool space monsters but had no idea how to fit them in the movie.

Overall I am pretty happy with the movie I think it is a good bridge from old to new but I hope the following episodes will be more unique and creative.

As I grew up my Favorit Poster of the Trilogy was always the German Art for The Empire Strikes Back…
I Had that Poster in my Room as a Child (from an old German Youth Magazine) and alwaysed loved it.

As I started to research my own Blu Ray Set i wanted to use the Poster art I grew up with… sadly I coudn’t find the Pic I was Looking Fotr in HighRes… so I searched my Basement for my old Poster (as I said it was out of a magazin on pretty cheap paper and in very bad shape today…)
So I scanned it in different parts and cleaned up the Artwork.
It was very much work and is still not perfect (as a lot of Informationes were missing because of a wrong crop of the original Poster and the Age of it)

but MAYBE somebody also wants to use it… i already Testprinted it in the Size of a DVD Cover and in looks pretty great, so don’t let the rasterization fool you 😉

If somebody has that Image in better Quality and/or with the missing parts at the Sides I would be VERY happy to get it.

Also I would be very happy to see what you do with that image 😉

This is my first Post in this Board…
I am a big Fan of the Work the members of this Board have done… right before the TFA Premier i enjoyed Harmys DE Trilogy and Loved it.

Now i am working on my own BluRay Box Set
since i am from Germany I want to build a Set with the old German Posters and the translated Titles of the Movie - But also a english Version for the International Users here.

As I was working on my Set I was searching for different Logo Styles - And some of them were pretty easy to come by… others I had to rebuild from scratch - after a lot of hours of work I just want to make sure that nobody else has to go through this painful act in the future 😉

Hope this helps someone and you like my work.

Some of the Logos (mostly the german ones) are not 100% Official but I tried to emulate the Original Style as good as possible.

so this are the logos that I can offer as Vector Grafics, if you can give me a some advice where to upload the file I will edit the Link into this Post.

If you have other Logos for the Set I would be Happy to put them in the Package!
