This is just a quick little idea, but maybe have most of (or maybe even all of) Samuel L. Jackson's dialogue be censored by an audio beep?
or/and you could find dialogue from his other movies if you have any of his dvd's laying around - Snakes on a plane and Pulp Fiction, where he shouts a bit more :)
Black Snake Moan - might find some amusing dialogue from there too.
I've heard in the Radio Drama for Return of the Jedi there are some extended scenes - does anyone know what they are?
thanks
edit: not needed now.
If its too short you could always add some footage of Jar Jar or put some ewoks back in :p
Hi Brash, could you send me the link too please?
Mesa lika this!
These forums are a way for fan-editors to show us what they're up to - they do like to recieve comments on what people think of their work.
but at the end of the day, this is Spences project so its up to him what he does.
I agree with your comments about the prequels but they really belong in another thread "General Star Wars Discussion".
tho i will say, I hated the prequels originally, for too many reasons to go into here but what ive realised after seeing some really good fan-edits of them is that there is a good story there its just hindered by poor editing choices.
Lets return to Jedi!
Thanks for the encouragement - I'll see how it goes, when i started the opening credits I had a clear goal in mind but after i got editing i realised I couldnt cut too much out of jabba's palace or the plot would be broken - and then made the credits go on for too long.
I dismissed it originally, but I like Ben_Dangers idea of incorporating some flash backs from Empire Strikes Back.
Im not trying to improve Return of the Jedi im just making an alternative version.
I need to plan out what i want to do and experiment to work out what will and won't work.
I will have a look at the Indiana Jones credits to see how they work without fading to black. Im also a big fan of TMBTM's War of the Stars, so i'll have a look at how he used credits as well.
Now thats dedication for you!
You've cloned yourself in the process too :P
wow bob's work on the death star is amazing, how is stuff like that done? in aftereffects?
bob, would you be willing to put up a making of type video to show us how thats done please? but then maybe you dont want everyone to know your secrets! would be cool tho.
I wasnt sure that you'd be able to make it look soo good!
this edit is turning into something, you can be pretty proud of i think! well done Spence and Bob!
Great ending, spot on!
Or someone could just explain it here :p

I think you should call the final product The Legions Of The Final Milf then it would really rock.
So I guess the milf is refering to Shmi? palpatines secretly had his evil way with her which would explain a great many things about why annie turns to the darkside.
New prequel story plot: By a curious coincidence Shmi is also a secret sith mistress and had the hots for palpatine all along or that they both met at the local secret Sith club. Shmi falls in love with palps who told her that if she agree'd to take him home ,they could make serious sith love and he would then train her as his apprentice! she agrees cos she is in love with him, they did the evil deed and in the morning he ran off! leaving her pregnant, Shmi finally decides to kill herself and make it look like the sand people did it by getting them to invite her to dinner. Then after dinner she has her evil way with all the sandpeople and then prepares to kill herself ...thats when anakin walks in on her in episode 2. Making it look like the sandpeople were responsible....becuase she knows she'll have more power as a force ghost - and she can manipulate annie from the ....other side\ether\ whatever and finally gets her revenge by:
she has to wait many years for finally the right time to carry out her revenge which is when palps is trying to kill luke with lightning....thus its her controlling vader when he throws palps down the reactor shaft!
woah sorry for long message! but thought i was on to something here!

more dumb cameos.
haha! - you could insert clips from mel gibson, the terminator, dirty harry etc.....and have them join in on killing the droids at some point during the movie.
some footage from from the Spaceballs movie might fit in pretty good too, like the flying winnebago :)
Hey Frink, this is cool idea for prequel edits
^^ what he said about slimer - would be cool!
Thanks for your comments already!
hmm, yeah it doesnt quite work - think i'll try something else.
As for the music is from Shadows of the Empire soundtrack CD (Joel McNeely,1996).
This weekend I started my own edit of Return of the Jedi :p
OMG not another jedi edit! yeah i know theres a few in the works now but it was either this or episode 1…
this is the first time i’ve ever tried editing and thought it was about time i tried it.
…I’ve used Womble and following ADM’s editing guide managed to produce the first 9 minutes of a movie! wow…
heres the link:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzridF3ZJQs
list of changes:
I like the opening credit sequence to Alien 3 so used that as a guide here.
The Empire is cut from the beginning of the movie it will be used later on.
The movie now starts at Jabba’s Palace - I wanted the opening sequence to be darker in spirit and have a more mysterious tone to it.
Changed the music where ever possible for some reason…
cut out C3PO’s wailing, it’s about time he became braver! and don’t say its not in his programming!
Jabba now speaks less and there is no need for subtitles as 3PO translates what you need to know.
Some cuts in Lukes holo message to Jabba - he’s more to the point now
no more eve99 or whatever the hell droid it is… it just wasted time and cut from the main plot at this point.
Cut the music number and party antics
the video ends after Chewbacca is (seeming…) captured… oooh
This will be the end of the opening credits and then the next scene would be off to dagobah to introduce luke. I kinda stole the idea for this off Spence (i think, well i know thats what someone was going to do in their edit)… Good idea there 😃
so thats the next thing ill be doing…
anyway hope you like my video and let me know what you think!
whats a good way to make title cards to insert in womble between clips?
Edit: DOH! - Womble does them
I think it works well without the force ghosts, Vader has been redeemed and i think burning vaders body on the funeral pyre - serves as Luke honoring his father.
Its nice to see things done differently here, just my 2 cents.
Also spence mentioned there will be no force ghosts in the entire movie...so Ben's ghost is gone too? ...would be interesting to see how the scene plays out on dagobah without him.
Edit: I've had an itch to try out editing for myself for ages, and its getting worse the more i see cool stuff on here! I guess getting a copy of vegas would be a good start as most of the stuff i would like to try first would be trimming and cutting scenes and altering the audio tracks.
I can understand the effects work being pretty complicated! but i hope you manage to pull off the stuff you want to do Spence!
This looks cool - like what you did with the ending, although ive seen jedi a thousand times the funeral pyre scene never really stood out to me. It makes much more impact now without the dumb ewok party ending. Didnt even miss the ghosts either.
Not sure about the music that begins the sequence tho, is it from episode 1 or 2? but i like that it ends on the skywalker theme or force theme whatever its known as now... that along with the the Look on Lukes face as he watches the funeral pyre burning really makes the sense of closure on the story stronger.
Hi Like the sound of this - like the crawl - The word Alderaan brings all kinds of nostalgia from the original film which is cool.
Never thought about it before but why didnt Lucas use Alderaan more in the prequels? Getting to see what Alderaan is like would have been nice and make the destruction of it later all the more emotional. oh well...
Hey, Also check out TMBTM's War of the Stars: A new hope, grindhouse
This is sooo awesome, also available on fanedit.info
If you've not seen it already you're in for a treat! a lot has been changed in this one, so its not the theatrical version its a completely different version. using new music and incorporating cut footage - difficult to explain - you have to watch this :)
What about if TheManBehindTheMask was to create a grindhouse version of Jedi - that would be cool, like he added the blood and decapitations in War of the Stars he could make the ewoks drip blood from theirs mouths, dub their voices with something more scary monsterish.
Stuff like that? make their weapons better and arrows that do go straight thru stormtroopers with lots of blood.
I think that could be pretty funny ) and relieve a bit of the cutesyness of Jedi.
So TMBTM - come and give us a complete War of the stars Grindhouse trilogy! :)
I dont care much about the prequels thats a whole other kettle of fish!
aaaagh!
