Please don't give up - i'm really in awe of people that do these fan edits, which is why i lurk on these forums!
What you've described sounds really exciting, even if you don't finish exactly like how you planned - it's all good!
I know some people on these forums can be a bit harshly over-critical ignore them and carry on the way you're going!
If any of my comments came across as being negative about your project, that wasnt my intention - I just have a habit of butting into other peoples conversations :)

Jake lloyd is the guy i feel sorry for - no doubt being asked to play anakin skywalker would b cool for any 8 year old. But at that age you have no idea if the script that has been written is going to be any good or not! and his parents obviously werent star wars fans cos they should have known better too!

This guy was the prequels first casualty, and at so young an age! now he's developed a complex about it, cos people keep making fun of him when it really didnt have much to do with him.... and it totally put him off acting for the rest of his life.
Infact im surprised his family, didnt sue George Lucas for abuse of his position and ruining a young boys life!
in Alien 4 when Ripley goes into that room and see's all the disfigured clones - i thought eww! and kinda sad at the same time - a stiring scene.
Then when i saw the alien/human hybrid thing i felt sick....then when i saw it bite into someones head i thought........EWWW! TOO FAR! (just something about the way it was filmed) and switched it off!!!.... (had a lay down then came back to watch the rest thru gritted teeth)
I like the movie up to that bit and then the final scene where Ripley and co look out into the cloudcover of earth.... if the movie could be edited so they blow up the ship before getting a chance to see the alien/human hybrid id be very happy! just seeing it gives me the creeps! and i very rarely get affected in such a way with horror films.

theres a dilemma! if they had put her in charge would they have all made it off world alive??? ...well bishop still had to remote pilot the dropship down from the sulaco... but anyway....

act1/prologue - ripley is found, explaining the alien threat to anyone who didnt see alien (yes, i never saw alien untill after watching aliens!) ends before burke and gorman arrive to explain the new plot.
act2 - new plot explained/Colonial Marines introduced. Ripleys apartment - just before landing on lv-426
act3 - LV-426 - re-introduced (changes since previous alien movie explained) /new character & ripley interaction/development - the seemingly abandoned colony complex - gung-ho-ness of marines with Ripleys - older/wiser knowing what to expect attitude. ends - when area is declared secure.
act4 - Newt - a surprise new character is revealed who is presented as the suspense prelude just before the action kicks off.
The first major action sequence in which colonial marines and their gung-ho antics are shown to be completely innefective, their asses handed to them. (Kinda like the hero movie formula, you like em better when the hero gets beat up and then makes a come back in the final scene! - however this film twists the hero formula a bit and is more ESB in that regard)
act 5 - aftermath of battle, tables are turned, more character development - brought down a peg or two our heroes now have to formulate a better plan. Better plan - ends badly - these aliens are "Bad ass!" ends with most of the marines being slaughtered and the little girl being kidnapped.
act 6 - The quiet thoughtfull marine, survives (hicks) but indisposed so that ripley (our heroine) can go and save newt and save the day. What seems like the final act untill.....
act 7 - surprise/bonus act - the main villain is not dead!! and new twists abound (power loader being used as a weapon!) untill end. Two mothers fighting it out for the little girl one evil one good. Good prevails... end...or so we thought.....
now 2 or 3 sequels later... we wished it had ended there!
sweet! got bioshock as well - it was cheap secondhand! never played that before. Thats 5 games now on their way! wow feels like christmas! ...except....im buying my own presents...
was gonna get the original Left 4 dead as well but from what i've read 2 is the new improved version.
I'll try the demo again when i get home and see what its like the second time round )

ooh! I finally downloaded the demo for L4D2 last night and wow! i think this might be my next purchase... but ive got 3 games on the way from amazon already...
Sacred 2 - needed a diablo 2 type game...tried Deathspank but no...(by the way Torchlight on the pc is pretty good)
Frontlines: fuel of war - still trying to find a decent multiplayer shooter (well im sure there are many, but im kinda crusty and can't find one i like) and heard its similar to the original battlefield 1942 ...sort of.... i dont like MW2 or battlefield bad company 2.... too...hectic and too many snipers... or even Halo 3....:(
Resident Evil 5 - no particular reason just thought id see what its like.
I've tried:
Fallout 3 - completed it (quickly) on the pc - and though the graphics look better on my xbox i just can't get back into it - theres too much rpg elements and takes far too long to kill something...too much conversation!
Perfect Dark Zero - i got the collectors package, which was pretty nice but the game is just to basic, guns seem to be continuously reloading which is annoying as it takes way to much ammo to bring anyone down...
Alan Wake - not bad, but just not got the patience for it....(obviously i know its not a FPS type game)
Halo ODST, sold it - completed the solo campaign on easy and couldnt be bothered to do it again at a harder level. not enough variety in locations and annoying enemies. Just couldnt get into the multiplayer - everyone seems to take a whole magazine to kill and yet most people take me down in one shot.... but that might reflect my poor skills rather than the game lol.
however when i downloaded L4D2 demo i couldnt stop playing untill the end! the guns work well and was quite happy blowing away hordes of zombies with an uzi or battering them with a frying pan :) woo!
shoulda tried it a long time ago, cos half-life 2 and the 2 episodes are still my fav's. Is the L4D2 multiplayer just co-op?
anyway any recommendations you can make would be apreciated :)

someone made a fake trailer for episode 2 thats on utube - (I thought i saw it before seeing episode 1 at the cinema but may be wrong).
it included christopher walken and gabriel byrne and a woman from last of the mohicans - can't remember her name - the one who threw herself off the cliff after mogua had killed her boyfriend...
anyway it also included a battle scene from braveheart where the army of scot's had they're swords rotoscoped into lightsabres. I didnt realise the scene was from braveheart untill someone mentioned it on the comments!
Anyone I actually thought it was a REAL star wars trailer (at the time it was not branded as fake!) and was really dissapointed when i saw the movie and no mr walken or byrne or pretty lady from Last of the mohicans....(boy am i gullable??)
....im babbling now, the point of this message was like using something from the wookie planet or - can you use alternate footage from some war film and play with it, such as rotoscoping or whatever to expand the battle scene... even if you did find sort of acceptable footage tho i would imagine it would be a BIG job to put in laser blasts and the odd imperial trooper etc....
just wondered if that was feasible? and im so gullable, i'd except it :) lol
and on the subject of possessed's ROTJ edit too, Im looking forward to seeing yours and his - i think ROTJ is the one that could benefit most from fanediting and having two different visions of this film going on is cool :)
Someones worked out how to can the stay puft man and now they're selling them for $2.99 in most hardware stores!!! I was just watching this one (the last) on the shelf as it started to form....so i whipped out the camera before running off!

Liked the preview theres a hint of - will the rebels on endor get the shield lowered before the rebel fleet gets to the death star? kinda race - which without the ewoks will be a bit more exciting :)
you can cut out the whole brother sister plot thats always been really awfull! (IMO!) but whatever you do looks like you're on the right track!
