^ sig fail. "1977 special edition"?
D'oh! Now I feel like I've been walking around with toilet paper stuck to my shoe for the last few weeks.
Thanks for the heads up :)

http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/89546Okay, now I am stuck in a loop forcing Luke to make upside down jumping jacks and play the "where is Vader's neck" game the whole day.
ESB:R looks very good though.
Quote fail.

Hmm. I prefer Jaitea's latest SE-based version...
+ 1. I find the contrast too exaggerated in your recent attempts Harmy, whereas Jaitea's example looks more natural. Personally, my money's on either using something similar to Jaitea's sample or sticking with v.1.
Yay, updates!
To echo Joshua_Blue, that's a great site. Very handy being able to flip between images with the cursor.
In particular, I found flipping between these images to be quite amusing:
Upside down aerobics with Luke! - http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/89537
Vader feeling the rhythm - http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/89545
And of course, as always, terrific colour correction.
Re: the grate -- thanks for the pic comparison Harmy. I was completely unaware of that SE change. Nice work restoring the original effect.
Re: the latest clip -- that new dewback looks fantastic Harmy... looks like it tracks perfectly now. To echo AF, however, the new colours look a little off. V1 looks more natural to my eye. V2 looks too... green?
That being said, I'm watching this clip at work, and I'm not sure my monitor's all that trustworthy. Plus, as you said, the colour timing is an issue for later on.
Thanks for the recent slew of clips.
Ok... I looked at the clip five times and I still have no clue what I'm looking for. What's the "melted bars" issue exactly?
Good work Harmy. A very noticeable difference.
Although I'm not clear on what benefits beginning a v2.0 would offer, the comment regarding the "blast frames" caught my eye. By blast frames, do you mean the flashes following a blaster being fired? If so, personally I found such flashes in the shootout at the beginning of ANH to still lean a bit too much to the pink side, so if you were indeed talking about recolouring those, I for one would be pretty happy.

Would anyone please care to comment on the picture I posted here? I'd quite like to know if you guys think I should use the new one.
The overall contrast looks better in v1.2, as does the dewback's colour and compositing, which looks more natural. However, as someone else mentioned, it's rear end looks fuzzy -- is this because it's in motion during the scene or is it just the limitations of the source?
Awesome news d_j. I'm very excited to see some samples of the blu's.
My choices would be:
SW = opening scenes with Star Destroyer flyover, Blockade Runner corridor shootout
ESB = beginning of Luke / Vader duel in the carbon freezing chamber
ROTJ = not sure... Vader death scene aboard Death Star?
Whatever you choose, I'm looking forward to seeing them.

Darth Solo made an off-topic thread about banned members once but it turned into a bickerfest. I may or may not have been involved.
Boy, that doesn't sound like an admission of guilt ;)
I (somewhat) jokingly made the comment awhile back in the Congratulations/condolences to our new moderator, Anchorhead thread that we should have a separate forum titled "Detention Block AA-23" where banned members (and the reasons for their bans) could be listed.
Having just recently noticed twooffour's ban, the thought resurfaced in my mind. I suppose there's no need for it, per se, but I'm sure it would satisfy man a member's curiosity as to why a particular member was banned and whether said ban is temporary or permanent. It may also serve as a warning/reminder to others about what behaviour(s) to avoid themselves.

Pardon me if I sound like a sycophant, I'm not, I'm just amazed by what he's doing and I support it.
I think it's safe to say many people here support his project (who on this site wouldn't support a restoration of Star Wars?). As for his decision to not share it, again I understand his reasons, so no problem for me (although his reluctance to share his editing tools is a bit of a head scratcher). What does irk me, however, is his self-aggrandizing behaviour coupled with his condemnatory and belittling comments regarding the work of others.
In short, the project's great--it's the personality of the individual doing it I'm not particularly fond of.

If it doesn't read like Lovecraft on acid, I'm not interested.
Not to worry. I blatantly pilfered was inspired by his works as well. However, as this novel can never be read by anyone other than me, you'll just have to take my word for it. But rest assured, the Lovecraftian elements present in the story are awesome if I do say so myself.

In response to Frink's inquiry, I'm sure I will take flak for this, but sometimes a person of faith acts on faith, even if they are not sure why. Sometimes God simply wishes to test our obedience. Looking at the kosher laws of the Old Testament, God did not mention how much cholesterol or the various parasites you might find in pork. They simply obeyed because God wanted them to. "Oh no! Blind faith!"
More to follow soon...
Reading this made me want to chime in. I think accepting something "on blind faith" simply because a religion advocates it is the first step down a potentially very dangerous and disturbing path. When people forgo reason and common sense in the name of their religious beliefs, it opens the door to a whole host of questionable, and possibly terrible, acts.
Granted, abstaining from drinking coffee or tea is an innocuous rule to observe, and one with no societal repercussions. But the same rationale of following a questionable rule on nothing more than faith could lead someone of another belief system to condemn others (e.g., homosexuals, people of other ethnicities) for no other reason than "our church/mosque/shrine/religious leader/religious text told us to."
Sorry for the rant, but I just find the observance of religious doctrine at the expense of logical thought a bit worrisome due to where it can potentially lead.
This thread will serve as the central hub for info and feedback concerning the creative writing effort underway at www.TheGreatestNovelEverWrittenLegacy.com.
A bit of background for those unfamiliar with the project:
For the last 14 years, I have been in the process of writing the world's greatest novel. By tirelessly combing through the most renowned literary masterpieces of the last 400 years, I have managed to pull the most successful elements from a plethora of texts and combine them into a single, cohesive epic, the likes of which the world has never seen.
However, due to the possibility of litigation, I will never actually be able to release this novel to the general public. I know this may raise a few eyebrows, and possibly protests, by those who think my amazing work is a gift which should be shared with the rest of humanity. Much as I may like to share the fruits of my labour, I must reiterate that this is simply not possible, and that I must exercise caution lest the powers that be seize this contemporary classic.
Hopefully, simply knowing that such a literary classic exists, even if it can never be read, will be of solace to those who will never see it for themselves. Knowing that this crowning achievement in literature will be preserved for possible perusal by future generations should be comfort enough.
That being said, I may, on occasion and at my discretion, decide to share morsels of my genius with you, the 'little folk.' Here, as a sample, is a brief excerpt from the first chapter:
As you can see, the result thus far is nothing short of astounding. Please keep an eye on this thread for further developments.
Thanks to Mike Verta for inspiring me.

A stupid question, but are you THIS Mike Verta ? http://www.mikeverta.com/
Anyone else check out this site? Watching the video, I was reminded of the old joke:
"But enough about me... why don't you talk about me for awhile?"
Apparently the only time he's not self-congratulatory is when he's letting other people congratulate him :)
I'm hearing nothing but Lawsony goodness in that clip, nor have I ever heard anything remotely resembling a female voice in that scene in the 30 years I've been watching ESB.
Best software to use in my opinion is ImgBurn. The interface is pretty clear, and the process fairly self-explanatory.
1. From the main screen, select "Burn Files to Disc" (assuming the V3s you have are in Video_TS folders and not ISOs (image files).
2. Browse for the Video_TS folder of the film you're burning.
3. You may do it automatically once the blank disc has been inserted, but if not, press the calculator button on the right hand side of the screen to calculate disc/burn parameters.
4. If presented with layer break options, pick whichever one you wish from the list (each is accompanied with a preview, so you'll see where in the film it will occur). I believe I went with the first option (54:27?), which placed it at the beginning of the Alderaan destruction scene.
5. The program may prompt you to address a few other things (volume labels, etc.).
6. Hit burn and you should be done.
Edit: Ah, MattMahdi beat me to it :)
