I’m trying to understand this Papa Murphy’s pizza, at first I thought it was a pizza chain restaurant, but now it sounds more like a Digiorno frozen pizza at the supermarket kinda deal?

It’s not frozen. And the ingredients are better. And there are more of them.

And them preparing the pizza takes less time, so you’re in and out of the store in no time even if you don’t call ahead.

I watched both when they were in theaters. I enjoyed both, but expected Boyhood to swamp all the awards, so rooted for Birdman because I felt it was the underdog and more entertaining. Boyhood was an experience, but one I wouldn’t really want to revisit.

Everything is a product of its time.

But some more than others. I once again point to how Superman, although made 10 years earlier, ends up being much more timeless.

I mean, you may not be wrong, but you can’t tell me that Superman doesn’t ooze the seventies at some moments as well.

Fair enough. I guess what I’m trying to say is Batman feels like a movie of its time rather than a Batman movie, while Superman feels more faithful to the character. Superman is the first thing I’d point to if someone wanted me to explain the character, while Batman isn’t. It’s still a solid movie and I really enjoy it to this day.

Well as I’ve said multiple times already, it’s a Burton movie. And by extension it’s not a Batman movie.

Batman isn’t a Batman movie? I don’t quite follow what you’re saying here.

Have you seen it?

It’s not a Batman movie, it’s a Burton movie that happens to have Batman and happens to star The Joker.

It’s technically a Batman movie but presumably you get my point now.

Which (live action) Batman movies then are actually Batman movies and not just Martinson/Burton/Schumacher/Nolan films that happen to have Batman?

You might as well say Superman: The Movie was not a Superman movie but a Donner movie that happened to have Superman. Every director flavors their movies with their own style, so I’m not sure what the point is of Burton’s Batman not really being Batman.

If anything, you should say that about Shumacher’s films and not Burton’s.

Papa Murphy’s is a scam. If I want to make my own pizza, I’ll get one at the grocery store.

Hey look, we already had this conversation in 2016!

Except Papa Murphy’s is not frozen. The ingredients are fresh, and they pile a ton of them on. I also find the flavor to be superior.

Is the quality of a pizza related to the number of ingredients on it?

No. I was just amazed when I went there at one point to order a pepperoni pizza, and they covered almost the whole pizza in pepperoni. I was rather impressed. That’s just in addition to the cheese and the sauce being good. The only downside is the crust isn’t scored so you have to watch out for bubbles when you cook it. That’s kind of annoying.

You don’t have to worry about this at take-after-baked pizza places.

I prefer Papa Murphy’s because it tastes better, enough to be worth the inconvenience of cooking it.

I know.

So, do lie detector tests have any legal weight like they do in movies and tv?

It depends on the state, but generally no. They are not foolproof and their reliability has not been completely determined.

Polygraph machines simply detect stress compared to a baseline while under interrogation, and so if you can answer questions without noticeable stress, you can beat the test. Such as if one were to practice giving a particular answer.

What terrible pizza places are giving you guys burnt pizza?

I said they don’t cook it long enough, not too long.

ok, but the post right before mine (Dek) said it is half burnt.

Therefore not cooked long enough because Ray wants it all burnt. This is all about what he wants out of an oven and how no one else can give it to him.

Or rather it’s about letting people like what they like and not telling them they’re wrong.

Maybe you could spend less time bashing other peoples’ pizza choices and instead say what pizza you do like?

Just a thought.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

So what pizza do you like?

This isn’t the “What pizza do you like?” thread.

This is the “Ranking Pizza” thread. Pizza you like would then be ranked at the top.

So what pizza would you rank at the top?

You’ve assumed quite a bit there.

No. You just don’t care. You’d rather waste your effort mocking and baiting other people.

A logical alternative under your view is that I’m not giving her enough credit.

To be fair, during the election one could assume they were both horrible for different reasons. Now we know he is definitely as horrible as was originally thought, while she is still just presumed so. Plus, he’s completely incompetent while she is not.

It’s one thing to say that she would be as horrible as, say, Pence or Cruz, but it’s a real stretch to say she’s equal to Trump. At the very least she would actually do her job rather than just golfing all the damn time. And she would have more of an opinion than to just remember the last thing that the last person told her.

People during the campaign compared her possible presidency as akin to 8 more years of Obama, and there’s no way one could claim, from an informed opinion, that Obama was as bad as Trump is.

Meanwhile, I do feel it’s possible Trump might be helping the Democrats by indirectly affecting change.

It does assume quite a lot to say they’re equally bad. Especially since we know much more now about his governing style. I also don’t believe a word about rumors that the Clintons are equivalent to crime lords with how those who disagree with them are disappeared or some such nonsense. And yes, I’ve actually heard people say things like that in real life.

It makes no sense to characterize my low regard for both of them into the “you’re defending Trump” category.

If you think they’re equally terrible, then yes you are defending him.

Silly, that’s not how it works.

Speaking for myself, I did vote for Clinton (in both the primary and general) and would have voted for her in 2008 if not for Obama; but I understand why people don’t like her, and disapproval of Clinton is not the same as excusing Trump.

Beyond that, Hillary Clinton is old news. Complaining that she did-but-didn’t get elected is a moot point, and I’d just assume she fades into obscurity.

Star Wars Steelbook Villain Posters for AOTC and Rogue One
Time

I was PM’d recently and asked to provide links to everything since he couldn’t find all the links to posters in NeverarGreat’s Plex screenshot. I assume he meant there was no link to an ESB-Vader poster. So, I went back and looked at the thread, switched Vader to ESB, fixed the subtitle font on Rogue One, and resized the canvases to fit Plex’s poster dimensions.

So far, this is what we have:

The Phantom Menace: https://i.imgur.com/OMKF2uz.jpg
Attack of the Clones: https://i.imgur.com/AcAnr7B.jpg
Revenge of the Sith: https://i.imgur.com/Ii40Q3Y.jpg
Rogue One: https://i.imgur.com/kGgoYs9.jpg
A New Hope: https://i.imgur.com/qlPelV9.jpg
The Empire Strikes Back: https://i.imgur.com/FgUiMMJ.jpg
Return of the Jedi: https://i.imgur.com/lb2Pzvd.jpg
The Force Awakens: https://i.imgur.com/ee4ASMp.jpg

Now we need The Last Jedi.

It is difficult to explain Hell when one can not accept the concept that we do not deserve Heaven, nor can we by anything of our own doing. Because we ourselves are corrupt and sinful, we do not deserve to behold God’s glory or to be in His presence whatsoever. That is, separation from God is a default. But because Christ personally intercedes for us, we are forgiven. But we also need to accept that forgiveness.

In other words, we of ourselves decide to take our inheritance and go our own way, and it is up to each of us to decide to go back home to our father. Surely, once he sees us on the road back from far away, he will run to us and embrace us and throw a party. But we are also free to be able to make the decision to be apostate. It’s our choice.

I’m just telling you what I know, what I believe, and what hypotheses I’ve arrived at.

But from a debate standpoint, neither side is winnable because there is no scientific or empirical data on which to draw. You either believe testimony or you don’t. Being mad at God about Hell, or claiming Hell or God doesn’t exist because you don’t understand it, changes nothing.
