Breaking Benjamin - I Will Not Bow
Breaking Benjamin - I Will Not Bow
I’d rather the stupid people get some leniency so that we don’t have to walk on eggshells all the time instead of getting outraged at everybody.
In my opinion, people who would call others “snowflakes” (not saying that you did) are themselves even more sensitive than those they accuse. They should pull the log out of their own eye first, so to speak.
Certainly, learning to not immediately assume offense was intended is a useful skill. But when people call others out for it, it just sounds to me like they’re upset that they can’t say whatever-they-damn-well-please and get away with it. Well, I don’t think they should be able to say whatever-they-damn-well-please because, to quote Billy Madison, “everyone is now dumber for having listened to it.”
In sum, learning to be polite and civil is a good goal. Both being over-sensitive and complaining about over-sensitivity doesn’t help at all. It’s just a way to try to shut opposing view down.
It also doesn’t help that social media exists purely to broadcast stupidity to the world
I can not argue with that.
Well, you can’t find reruns of The Cosby Show on tv anymore either. And it was pulled long before the current court case ended.
Big difference between that and stupid Twitter comments.
“Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt.”
If someone is in the public eye and makes a spectacle of themselves in a negative fashion (in whatever manner that is), I’m not at all surprised at people not wanting to be associated with them or their opinions. Being talented or popular should not make one exempt from the consequences of bald-faced idiocy.
She said stupid right-wing shit on Twitter and now the show is cancelled. It sucks because now TV is just going to become more unwatchable than it already is.
That assumes the show Roseanne was making TV less unwatchable.
Good on Disney for shutting that crap right down, I say. Roseanne Barr should return to the has-been obscurity that she deserves.
Dammit Roseanne.
i’ve seen her name pop all over the internet for the past few hours. what’s going on? and who is she?
I know who she is, and wish I didn’t. So I’m both intrigued about what might be going on and afraid to ask.
I’ve been saving up Amazon Gift Cards I’ve acquired until I have enough to buy an inexpensive guitar (a Squier Bullet stratocaster by Fender) and a copy of Rocksmith 2014 to teach myself how to play.
I don’t recommend a fender squire. Remember you pay for the name when you get a fender. If it was cash I would say you’re better off getting a used guitar that’s better (as long as they were well cared for an old guitar that was a better model will always be better than a new cheap model). But since you are going the Amazon route, I recommend getting a cheap Sawtooth guitar. They are the same price but a bit higher quality as you are not paying for the name.
Well, I got a guitar. It will be delivered today.
I got a Sawtooth kit, primarily because of Possessed’s recommendation. I really was leaning toward getting a Fender Squier, even if I’d pay more for the name, and probably because of the name. But I kept talking myself out of it. For one thing, I want a kit and the Squier kit on Amazon is ever-so-slightly out of my price range. I’m a complete newb at guitar and don’t want to front significant money (yet) for a hobby I may not stick with.
So in the end, I decided to give Possessed the benefit of the doubt regarding Sawtooth not being worse than Squier for less money.
Still, if I were you I’d probably have cloud backup from Backblaze or something like that.
I don’t trust other people with my stuff. Two external hard drives to back my stuff up.
It’s the off-site part about cloud backup that I like. Protects against on-site property damage. Also, it automatically uploads changes to files without dicking around with backing up manually.
JEDIT: Although I suppose one could use bittorrent sync instead to backup to offsite, if that was the real issue. I use Backblaze for my server because it’s cheap, it’s easy, and available storage is unlimited (which is nice when I have 4.7 TB of data).
Still, if I were you I’d probably have cloud backup from Backblaze or something like that.
Looking forward to this.

Is this the first time that a huge YouTuber has died?
I’m not really sure.
JEDIT: Google says no, it isn’t, but I don’t recognize the names of anyone else listed.
TotalBiscuit died today, from cancer.

Have you ever once made a post where you just clearly state your position? I don’t think I’ve ever seen you do it. This is a serious question by the way
That can’t actually be a serious question that is not rhetorical. Why would you expect anyone to say “no” if asked this question?
In either case, can we just move along now and stop debating debating the debate?

For me that would be like saying “Never watch NBC broadcasts.” I don’t watch broadcast TV at all anymore, but instead use Youtube, Netflix, and my media server. Cutting out Youtube entirely would be to cut out several “shows” that I watch regularly.
Presumably you understood my point though.
Yes.

There are more videos on Youtube than just people bitching endlessly about [insert topic].

Seriously, they’re almost always vile if the Youtuber doesn’t curate them.
“You wanna cup of Jawa Jews?”
Despite all its problems, one of the good things about social media is interacting with people who have different views . . .
By the way, what happened to this?
It hasn’t changed, but sometimes you have to recognize when you’re arguing with a wall and spare your own sanity.
Since I was not being a wall in those arguments, and everyone in this thread can see that, I’ll just infer that the reason you refuse to address my points is because you can’t address them. You ignored most of my points in my earlier posts before deciding that I was beneath you anyway, so this isn’t exactly surprising to me.
Everyone in the thread can see a great many things, mon ami. At this point a ronto should enter the frame.
This makes absolutely no sense.
I suspect it means that you are being a wall, but you don’t see it because you don’t want to. Hence the reference to the ANH:SE ronto that you apparently inserted in front of yourself.
I suspect that’s what it means…
I know. You already told me you can’t.
won’t != can’t
I think it’s just a corporate way to throw a bone to people asking for real stories involving sexuality while simultaneously not actually doing that.
as long as it doesn’t cost them money.
I wondered about this, whether there will be people who might have seen the movie but now won’t because they assume this to be actual canon, costing the film money over it. Of course, then there are people who wouldn’t see it but now might…
snowflake
I’m getting really sick of the use of that word in general. It’s just a new epithet for wimp instead of saying pussy or pansy or whatever else.
Really starting to grind my gears.
