Bernie would have had a lot of trouble too.

Yes, but many people who voted for Trump were voting against the status quo, and perception of Bernie was that he was also not status quo. So people wouldn’t necessarily have voted for Trump simply in their desire for change.

Does no one remember how much of a dirty word “socialist” is?

As opposed to a fascist?

JEDIT: I feel that Bernie, had he won the primary, would have been able to run on more than just a “Trump sucks worse than me” platform.

It’s hard to say how well I would take it if I lost an election to Trump. I’d certainly be devastated, maybe even suicidal, when faced with the knowledge that Americans prefer Trump to me. It’s hard to imagine anything more humiliating for someone in her position. She is obviously psychologically “managing” it by dropping into a sort of self-defense “justification” mode. It’s not uncommon, although all it does is further tarnish her image.

I don’t get why people that hate Trump don’t hate her too.

Because:

 • She has respect for our political allies;

 • Despite her public image, she is able to make compromises with people in Congress to get things done;

 • She wouldn’t outright provoke North Korea nor drop MOABs on the Middle East;

 • She understands that humans are significantly contributing to climate change and that the Paris Agreement is an important step toward rectifying that;

 • She is not bigoted, sexist, nor willfully inflammatory outside of occasionally putting her foot in her mouth;

 • and she actually is genuinely qualified for the job.

She’s the reason he won. If the Democrats had run Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren then it would have been a sure Democrat victory.

Bernie, yes. Warren, I doubt it. Elizabeth Warren was the one who accused female Bernie-supporters during the primaries of betrayal to the cause of feminism for not backing Hillary. She’s not really super popular among the mainstream.

And his supporters moved to supporting Hillary at a faster rate than Hillary’s moved to Obama, so if Bernie’s supporters were being unreasonable, at least they were less unreasonable than Hillary’s.

You know, I don’t trust Daily Kos polling information anymore. Right up to the end, they had polling that said Hillary was 88% or so likely to win against Trump, even as other polls were tanking hard and fast.

To have DK say, in June of last year, that Sanders supporters were rushing to back Hillary faster than Hillary supporters backed Obama is in the realm of wishful thinking rather than hard evidence. Besides, the actual voter turnout during the general election would seem to have indicated otherwise.

What bothers me is that there is no definitive answer as to why Trump won. Everyone out there is guessing. Russia. Wikileaks. Comey. Bernie. Status quo. Rust belt. …I want someone with actual quantifiable evidence to say “this is why Trump won the primaries; and that is why Hillary’s poll numbers were oh-so-wrong, and EXACTLY why they tanked in the last week.”

But no. All we have is guesswork, blame games, and a good old fashioned hands-in-the-air WTF.

I do not take Daily Kos articles as evidence to support supposed fact. Not when the pollsters had worse aim than an OT Imperial Stormtooper.

I believe that Bernie supporters were outraged at Bernie being railroaded, and that they felt the arguments that Bernie leveled against Hillary for being corrupt and owned by the corporations were of legitimate concern.

The reason why any Bernie supporters might have stopped digging in their heels would be in opposition to Trump; not in response to Bernie’s political backing of Hillary. I got the impression that many Bernie supporters voted for neither rather than voting for her.

While I thought Bernie’s ideas, especially for things like free higher education for all, were far-fetched—as well as I thought he was rather a one-issue candidate that kept feeding us the same stump speech—I liked Bernie a lot. I thought he was honest and sincere, he had well-reasoned positions and legitimate arguments, and he showed he could identify with (much of) the working class on at least an ideological level. I just disagreed with him on his policies.

Meanwhile, I voted for Hillary because I thought her policies were more realistic, but I can’t stand the immaturity, insincerity, and arrogance in this sore-loserly “woe is me” attitude.

Hillary Clinton says Bernie Sanders caused ‘lasting damage’ in book

Damn, she is incapable of taking responsibility.

Reminds me of the classic joke;

[book cover]

“Rarely is a question both posed and answered on the cover of a book.”

As I have said, I voted for her in the primaries and general, and I would have voted for her in '08 if not for Obama running… but this so much makes me want to shake my head and sigh. She really has no concept of why she lost and seems incapable of taking ownership of any of it.

To quote Bernie Sanders: It’s not a question of what happens in the last week. The question is that she should have won this election by 10 percentage points. The question is why it is that millions of white working class people who voted for Obama turned their backs on the Democratic Party.

I’m sick of Hillary playing the stupid blame game. She lost. She should own it.

STAR WARS: EP VI -RETURN OF THE JEDI "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - ** PRODUCTION HAS NOW RESTARTED **
Time

Just so we’re clear: Is Lapti Nek coming back? I know Jedi Rocks is being removed (thank God), but I liked Lapti Nek and it would feel weird to replace/remove it. I seem to recall Ady once saying he’d replace that scene with a different song or something else entirely, but I hope Lapti Nek comes back.

Is there any way we could send in seal team six?

My understanding is that several members of the Seal Team Six that killed Bin Laden died in a helicopter crash quite some time ago.

With sprites, you can’t add detail that wasn’t there to begin with when projecting at a higher resolution. The Super Nintendo (assuming SNES) emulator’s tools for HD display are filters to smooth it out based on guesswork.

I don’t use smoothing filters for NES/SNES emulated games. I feel that if the game was originally pixelly, it’s supposed to look pixelly. Smoothing edges doesn’t make it look HD, and ruins the font if there’s any text.

I think I’m the only person who plays StarCraft here. Specifically Brood War, which just got a remaster, and I’ve been quite enjoying it.

I used to play StarCraft back in the day. I’m aware of the remaster but the truth is, since it’s not available on Steam or GOG, I’m not inclined to purchase it regardless of the fact that it’s probably amazing.

One thing I didn’t like about The Force Awakens was how Carrie Fisher seemed to have had one of those surgeries on her face that makes it impossible to open one’s mouth more than a slit nor produce normal mouth/cheek-related facial expressions. Her upper lip is nearly incapable of movement.

Well, I’m sorry, but it’s like the biggest gripe I have with TFA. Leia’s character in the OT was just so much more emotive, and Han and Luke, by comparison, don’t seem to have that failing so it stands out all the more.

It’s a big reason why I like the novelization of TFA better; because to me the narration of Leia in the audiobook sounds more convincingly like Leia than Carrie Fisher did emotively.

As did I.

Anyway, did you guys discuss lifting of the ban on military-style police equipment yet? I was running an errand yesterday and heard NPR talking about it. Basically, the police are allowed to request certain equipment, some of while is military in style or grade, such as grenade launchers, armored vehicles that look like tanks, or attack helicopters; and Obama banned them from requesting certain things.

Apparently, Trump lifted said Obama-era ban, but from what they said on the radio only a few police forces have requested armored vehicles that look like tanks (while most request armored vehicles that don’t); while no police anywhere ever has remotely put in a request for certain things like attack helicopters, even before Obama banned them. The point was made that just because police can request equipment, it doesn’t mean they do.

For those idiots who’ve never seen the movie, spoiler alert the North wins the Civil War.

Hell will freeze over before we ever see an official release of Song Of The South now.

Yes. It’s on MySpleen, though. (Not that that was your point, but I thought I’d mention it.)

I’m pretty sure you’re in the minority there.

Well, I am sure a lot of historians know about him. I guess the first time I ever heard of the guy was from the movie 1776. At the beginning of the movie, everyone in congress wonders where the representatives from New Jersey are. A little bit later, 3 representatives from NJ arrive, announcing that the old delegation was recalled and new one sent in its place. One of the the three was Richard Stockton. The other two were John Witherspoon and Francis Hopkinson. It turned the royal governor of NJ(Ben Franklin’s son) was arrested and the new delegation was instructed to vote in favor of Independence.

Oh! I’ve seen that movie a dozen times, but I didn’t remember the names of the NJ delegation other than John Witherspoon.

Dang, now I’m going to have to watch it again.
