I’m shocked that we’re even debating this.

You know, Presidential primary elections didn’t used to be a thing either. It used to be that the Partys’ committee members decided (a la, a bunch of white men in a smoke-filled room) who was going to be their Party’s candidate for President.

Should we go back to doing that as well? Then Bernie would have had zero chance whatsoever, and his movement would have fizzled out before it even got started.

Moral Narcissism

The leadership of the Left are intensely depraved outright psychopaths. It’s extremely alarming to see regular Americans excuse their catastrophic destruction with […]

Seriously. What is a regular American? Do regular Americans have kids? If so, are single adults not regular Americans? Are regular Americans divorced? How many times have they been divorced? What kind of job do they have? How much money do they make? What kind of car do they drive? Do they own or rent? How big is their residence? Do they have a pet? What kind of pet and how many? Do they have a smartphone?

For any quantitative answer of the above, what is the acceptable standard of deviation from the “regular” mean, median, and/or mode to still be in range of being considered normal?

How many qualifiers must be met to be considered regular? Can someone be single, work at McDonalds and have a flip phone or a landline phone and be regular? Is there a tax-bracket that, once one exceeds it they are no longer regular? I own a Nintendo Switch. Do regular Americans own a Switch? Do regular Americans prefer Apple or Android? I hate Apple. Am I regular?

Who the heck is a regular American?

Everybody says ‘Bernie would have won’ or ‘Bernie wouldn’t have won,’ but I won’t really believe either until I see some polling data.

I think the DNC as a whole is partially to blame. The very fact that there is a superdelegate system, disproportionally and undemocratically favoring the voice of the elite, allowed Hillary to grab the nomination when the more likable Bernie Sanders might have defeated Trump.

While there is no way to prove that he would have won, I feel he easily could have better united the Democrat Party and that his supporters were far more passionate than Clinton’s. Heck, Jeebus here protest voted against Hillary. I doubt there would have been much of that against Bernie, even among Hillary supporters. I’ve no doubt most would have gone ahead and voted for Bernie as their number two pick.

I think the unification problem had more to do with Bernie’s supports (and to some extent Bernie himself) than Clinton herself.

Yup, screw Bernie. How dare he be such a good candidate that Hillary looked bad in comparison 😛

My sentiments, exactly (including the sarcasm.)

I’m late-gen X, so I grew up with TNG, but I didn’t like TOS much until more recently (given the campiness and overdramatic acting)—whereas I like everything TNG and afterward, hands down. Well… everything post-Riker-beard. 😃

The TNG movies, by and large, are meh. I like the Kirk movies except V and the theatrical version of The Motion Picture (The V’Ger Incident fanedit was decent). I also love ST '09 and ST:Beyond, but I haven’t seen the Star Trek Vengeance fanedit of Into Darkness yet to know where it weighs in for me. Theatical ST:ID is too long and unfocused on who the real villain is.

Okay, now I’ve seen Star Trek: Vengeance. The Seeds of Wrath fanedit was okay, I guess. Vengeance, however, was amazing. He seems to have fixed whatever issues I had with the movie. Yes, Benedict Cumberbatch (STID Khan) is absolutely no Ricardo Montalban (TOS/WOK Khan), but there are far fewer callbacks to TOS in this edit, allowing the new cast to stand on their own. And I didn’t feel like this lulled in the middle like the theatrical release does. It’s really good.

So yes, now I like the whole Kelvin Timeline thus far.

By comparison (not to 1-Up anyone, but just by comparison), I have seen every movie and every episode of all the shows. Most of them more than once.

You’re saying you didn’t like Kruge’s character from Star Trek III? I thought he did a fantastic job.

All I could see was Doc Brown in a Klingon costume.

Nevermind that Back to the Future was released July 3, 1985, and Star Trek III was released June 1, 1984.

Release order /= viewed order.

Yes, but I don’t think that’s a fault of the casting. The way you worded it makes it sound like in general people don’t consider him a convincing Klingon.

If anything, I’m saying that it’s like you’re saying Hugo Weaving is too recognizable as Elrond to be a convincing Agent Smith, when the reality for people who saw The Matrix and LOTR back in the day would have been the reverse.

JEDIT: But in either case, I actually was never too bothered by, say Jeffery Combs being recast as various characters. I find him to be equally believable as both Shran and Weyoun.

I listened to a podcast on the topic of DMCA’ing Let’s Plays.

https://headgum.com/robot-congress/robot-congress-46-pewdiepies-dmca-dilemma

Apparently Campo Santo is definitely legally within their rights to DMCA any and all Let’s Play content of their games, given that the “license” on the FAQ page of their website is (by default under the law) revocable at any time to any individual, and the work is not original but derivative. However, Campo Santo would not be able to sue PewDiePie for the money he already previously made under said license.

To be fair, Warb isn’t saying Cruz himself made the post, with it being his account. Warb said Cruz is responsible for (and therefore has control of) posts since it’s his account, and thus needs to be more careful with whom he gives access, which I agree with.

From my understanding, whether politicians give account access to staff is not the issue, but rather the wisdom of giving access to any-staffer-or-their-dog. To suggest that Cruz has no control whatsoever of his own account I think unnecessarily absolves him of any responsibility over it. It’s his account, therefore he is responsible. If he or his staff gave access to his or their staff, apparently doing so was unwise given the outcome.

He’s probably talking about that fucking bitch Doctor M.

Dr. Mario?

…but seriously, my headcanon refuses to include Other M as an actual Metroid game that exists. Nor did I have any hope for the future of the franchise after Sakamoto accused the gaming community of not liking it simply because it starred a female character.

http://www.nintendolife.com/forums/wii/sakamoto_metroid_other_m_failed_because_players_were_reluctant_to_accept_a_female_character

Now, whether Sakamoto actually said that or not (at the time, I thought so, but some people think the original article about it was satire)–Other M’s flaws were still all Sakamoto’s fault, in a George-Lucas sort of way.

I don’t know why, but I feel odd playing first-party Nintendo games on a platform that’s not a Nintendo console. The fact that my Wii can run Homebrew hacks and ROMs makes me happy because playing Zelda on my PC with a 360 controller is just weird.

Been using Dolphin for a very long time. Especially for METROID: Prime 1 & 2.

Whereas I have Metroid Prime 1 & 2 for GCN and Trilogy for Wii. I did however rip all of my games to USBLoaderGX+Devolution so I can play without the disc.

No way will I ever play Other M.

I… don’t know what game you’re talking about.

“This PewDiePie guy”?? Pewds is THE highest-viewed content creator on YouTube, bar none.

I was only half-interested in this story (since I don’t like Pewds’ content), until I read the quote you posted and realized Sean Vanaman (formerly of Telltale Games) is the founder of the developer involved. That got my attention because I used to lurk a lot on the Telltale forums.

Yep, after the TOS era and before the Dominion War, the Federation/Starfleet was well on it’s way to stagnation, complete with the complacency and legalism that goes with it.

Remember TNG’s “Loud as a Whisper” with Riva, the deaf diplomat whose interpreters were killed? I found it rather curious when Worf learned of sign language and commented that it would have enormous tactical uses. I mean, from a security standpoint, the need to utilize nonverbal communication should be obvious. I know MACO was long since disbanded, but that doesn’t make useful tactical training not worth bothering with.

You guys are accusing Warbler of fetishization of The Star Spangled Banner, but what I want to know is, why is it such a big deal to you that it’s such a big deal to Warbler?

Why do you have to constantly berate him for holding the flag and/or the anthem sacred and believing that others ought to do the same? Let the man have his opinion. Dang.

You make no effort to understand why Warbler feels the way he does, nor lend any weight to a possibility that his position might have merit. You just want to prove him wrong, as though such a thing were possible in a subjective topic like this, by making him explain himself until he can’t think of a strong enough rebuttal.

Thank you, Chyron8472.

You’re welcome.

To be clear, that doesn’t mean I agree (nor do I disagree; again, I really am on the fence). I just can understand where you might be coming from on the topic.

It’s just, in reading a long back and forth on the topic here all at once, I was starting to get a sense of the right’s argument that the left is actually equally as intolerant to opposing view, despite the left’s official claims to the contrary.
