THE FAN EDIT CONTEST HAS A WINNER !!! REVIEWS IN OFF TOPIC FORUM
Time
I've grown tired of asking for reviews and statements and receiving nothing. At least thank you ricardo for the little you posted. Have fun with your ongoing contests, I am out of this and will not visit this thread again. I do regret having participated in this and given any thought to it. What a major waste of my time. Those who are interested may discuss CBB edits with me in our thread.

And that is why I think it is great idea you make your edit. The matrix sequels can be approached from so many different ways and opinions. Keep it up and please finish your edit, no matter what. I think it is very frustrating no one is commenting, but that is what you have to get used to anyway. people like to talk about ideas but hardly discuss results. I received my first comment for WAR OF THE WORLDS EXTINCTIVE CUT about 1 month after it was finished and leeched more than 1000 times.

Boon, don't get me wrong, input is good. Can you give me pointers on how to fix some of what was wrong?

I didn't get anything wrong, Dr.M, it is great you want input, even if it isn't all positive. I cannot give you THE answer to what was wrong and to how-to-fix-it, most of the time it's just a feeling that you get, that something is wrong. Since we have been playing so much with sound lately, I find there a source of many things that were kind of unfitting or unsettling in your edit. When you mix two scenes, you might have to resound them from scratch, instead of mixing the audio. This is a hell lot of work, but the result can be excellent. And sometimes, when no one says the important sentences, then you may have to say it yourself (we did this a few times already and no one has yet criticized it or maybe not even really realized it, which would be even better) or find a quote from another movie (in DOOMED BY THE BOOGEYMAN it is actually Ed Harris that is shouting "nooooo" when Tim is sucked into the door). Since you are experimenting (and I love it that you said it), you should maybe try that. What you really need is a test audience. People that watch your edit with an open heart and tell you what they think. Unfortunately willing test audiences are hard to find and cannot be used more than once for the same movie. What strikes me is that I have no idea how your edit would have been for me, if I had not worked on the Matrix sequels myself for so long. I feel pain when I see the rooftop heart massage scene... and then I am far from watching open heartedly. One more thing: don't forget about the stupidity of the audience. We all want to be just entertained (at least I do). The audience does not want to think to much but wants to be told what happens, so there should be answers to almost everything. Star Wars is a good example there, you don't need a brain to understand the story, but it is great entertainment. Your cuts were sometimes very rough and it felt like plotholes inbetween, where information was required. Now if Revolutions - Hacked will be even more experimental I fear for the fun in watching it, but actually I want to see your vision. Isn't it possible to make it more of an entertainment movie?

I watched your edit and I know, you deserve a comment badly.

Now what do I want? To encourage you, to motivate you and to definetly try to keep you continuing to make fanedits, because you got visions and ideas and best of all you are daring compared to most other fan editors except for greencapt who may be the most daring of all (until I have seen his second edit). Your oracle scene (although not done sufficiently IMHO) is way cool from the idea to the making. You really tried to make this a different feel to what used to be such a unfulfilling sequel. Of course it won't be my influence to cause an effect a lot of effect on you fanediting future, but since no one has commented yet, I finally wanted to start, even though I cannot say I liked you edit. Why? Because it did not feel like a complete movie to me, the main reason for that is the audio. The audio problems start in the beginning and continue throughout th emovie. It's cool you kept the 5.1, but the soudntrakcs between cuts don't mix up to well, there are silences that cought my unwilling attention, music changes and different sounds of intonation (especially in the oracle scene, where it is still obvius that Smith and the oracle don't talk to one another). The result for me was sequences but not a movie feeling and towards the end the climax was missing because the oracle scene failed to be one for me. What I loved was your version of the "Trinity enters the facility" scene, which was very well edited (except for Link receiving the phonecall). But right now I am running ou of time. If you wish I will continue my report,if not... well, your choice. Keep up the good work, Dr.M.

THE FAN EDIT CONTEST HAS A WINNER !!! REVIEWS IN OFF TOPIC FORUM

Great post, karyudo.
I sent the CBB edits in to receive some reviews, to read opinions of people, who actually like fan edits and are willing to waste some of their time watching and hopefully enjoying what fan editors can do to movies. Of course our edits received plenty of comments on various websites, some good, some bad, but most of all just not fulfilling or detailed enough. I never participated to win, the contestant of my choice was DOOMED BY THE BOOGEYMAN, a movie, just to bad to win anything, but one that I consider a true fan edit, because we tweaked a lot here and the difference to the original is huge. deZIONized just fitted the second contest and HIGH TENSION MINUS ONE EDIT was Rikter's choice, who sent the copies to the judges. But I did not get anything at all to read, except for: the winner is and a stupid flamewar. Sorry, but I don't care about winning anouncements (although I think ADM deserves to be the winner). For me this is disappointing. So, if any of the judges would please mail me their reviews about the CBB edits and if I am allowed to may ask a question or two about the review then, this would be really nice.

'13-30 Extraflirty' fan edit (Released)
Time
We made it on WIKIPEDIA:
A fan-made edition, titled Creasy, is circulating the internet. It focuses solely on the character of Creasy, cutting out any scene that he doesn't appear in, as well as keeping the bleaker alternate ending. The running time is 40 minutes shorter, and viewers have mentioned how the film feels tighter-paced and more powerful than the original release.

wahooo!

Since im posting might as well comment on the 13 to 30 edit (as its the only one ive seen). I thought it was good, wish the cut scenes were available in a better quality as it would have made it seemless. I didnt even notice the removed scenes until i watched them in the extras. And I agree that parts of the original opening/closing would have been better than the one they used in the movie, its a shame they had to go and use a different cast

Thanx for your comment, simon, you are right about the picture quality of the deleted scenes, still they were just to good to be left out (storywise). I also wanted the quitting scene in, but it just did not fit anywhere. Jennifer wears a coat and enters the POISE building where her boyfriend awaits her. There was no scene to make that meeting possible. Pity.

...i'm not following this type of rationale - i don't think anyone benefits from downloading a movie you put a lot of time into that looks like crap. you are trying to fix these movies by changing the content, but it doesn't help if the delivery is distracting. imho, you should put your best effort into the viewing experience as a whole.
you are absolutely right there. Of course we did the best we could at that time. And deZIONized does definetly NOT look like crap or sound like crap. For every edit decisions have to be made, compromises found and for deZIONized it was, how to deal with about 3h of movie on one DVD. The KDVD setting for CCE delivers decent quality with little space used. We are not quality maniacs for picture and sound quality, we have watched and enjoyed movies with bad picture quality before, quality has to be sufficient to enjoy a movie. Since we intended this edit to be uploaded the file size had to be kept small. But if someone out there likes the idea of deZIONized, make an HQ version of it.
and i really LIKED "war of the worlds - extinctive cut" - i thought that it was really a good idea, so please take these as constructive criticisms.

You made a clear point here. Constructive criticism is always welcome, always was and always will be. We do want to improve our work and OT has helped us a lot there already.

It seems I am fighting against windmills here, which I don't have any further interest in. Bizzle, you may try and make me sound like a bad loser, which I am not. I think your way of writing about our edits is an insult as is your whole behaviour towards me for a long time. This is not necessary and it does not belong into a contest. Enough said.

Dayv, I would really like to read the complete reviews of everyone including the single scores before it was divided by 5, not just about our edits but about all of them.

About deZIONized: you are right about the plot hole, Dayv, but we have tested it on people who had not watched R&R and they had no idea what Trinity was referring to and were not to much destracted. Since the edit (especially the audio) was already finished then, we decided that the damage done was minor. The video quality is not that great, I know, we decided for acceptable quality using smallest possible size for upload/download reasons, and I think it just that: acceptable. deZIONized will get a rework anyway since we improved our work a lot since then.

If this is the review we are getting for our edits, then I do deeply regret participating. No details, no single scores but insulting all over the place. Yes, we do make our own credits and intros, and yes, we do credit us as editors and creators of our edits and YES, we are proud of what we do. There is no need to slap that back into our faces by calling it arrogance or showing off. Although I do not agree to the way Billy Mahoney wrote his opinion, I am shocked by what Bizzle did here. I liked your idea of a fan edit contest a lot, Dayv, but I cannot agree to what is said and how it is said here.

thank you for your nice comments. Any disc art is much appreciated. You may post it here (via imageshack e.G.) or send it directly to me via email (my email address is in my info). If good enough I will include it in the next upload of the edits AND of course you will be credited in our next edit.
You are absolutely right about the fades vs. cuts in WOTW TEC. It would have been better to cut instead of fading (we used fading to show that time has passed and time is of no meaning anymore, but somehow it didn't work out 100%). The death of Ray's son is just like it is in the original, what I suppose is striking you, is that he and his daughter are very fast inside the cellar and they don't grieve long enough. Unfortunately we did not have any material for that, so this feels a bit rushed.

Thanx again for the input.
