Star Trek TNG on BluRay confirmed !
Time

Warb, the blu-rays would be useless unless Gaff already has a widescreen TV thanks to how blu-rays encode video information. Frankly it's absolutely atrocious compared to DVD, it's so awful I can't explain it other than by saying 4:3 picture is pillarboxed into a 16:9 frame on old TVs. So you get the full image, but it doesn't take up all the vertical space on your TV.

OFFICIAL: Library of Congress had original prints replaced with 1997 SE
Time

If I read this correctly Fox took back the print that the Library had by force and LFL requested they store the 1997 edition which they refused to do. What's funny is if they had taken that, they probably wouldn't have a single film version on-file now and instead be forced to keep a digital copy of the 1080p files or even just simply the blu-ray.

Welp, we can't say or do anything about it. I think I've finally come to the conclusion that he's genuinely ashamed of the original versions of Star Wars the way a 7th grader is ashamed of something he put on the internet that nobody liked. I genuinely think we won't see the OUT in any better quality than Dark_Jedi's preservation until the man is dead, and even then he might put something in his will. Keep in mind I've often chastised those who go to these extremes when criticizing Lucas. But to deny the Library of Congress?

Just now need to find the other "last hope" mentioned in ESB, or maybe just let that go.

LUKE: Yoda spoke of another.

OBI-WAN: The other he spoke of... is your father.

LUKE: (realizing it himself) There is good in him.

OBI-WAN: Yoda never saw your father after he had fallen. I did. I could see the change in his eyes. When Darth Vader was born Anakin Skywalker was no more. The good man who was your father had been destroyed.

Taken from general star wars. It could probably be a pretty easy fix for those of you who absolutely hate, hate, HATE the sister plotline.

Help: looking for... a true Classic Star Wars Trilogy Restoration?
Time

The 'Spleen is secure, you won't find any companies leeching onto that. And even if there were, look up PeerBlock; if you're on Windows, it's your best friend.

DJ seems to have an irrational hatred of file uploading websites so he won't allow his releases to go up there. While I'd prefer them, it's his choice and anybody who did so against his wishes would just be an asshole.

Dark Jedi's "V3" DVD upscales of the official 2006 bonus DVD are the best "pure" selection; however, if you're looking for picture clarity, you may wish to check out Harmy's "Despecialized Edition" which is in essence a color corrected cut-and-paste job blending the 2004 footage with elements of the original trilogy (and, despite my simplistic description, this is done rather skillfully!) Both projects are equally well respected and regarded, but are entirely different - so it's up to personal taste as to which you would prefer.

My Top 10 Reasons ROTJ sucks

^Ok, let's ignore the fact that he may or may not have legitimate criticisms and give him a hard time over an offhand remark prefacing his actual article. ;)

And as for TheBoost, I agree to a certain extent. However, I feel as if the change should have been more gradual or at least explained at one point by Han - I am a fan of less is more, but the change seems a bit sudden. Also, he's still a goofball in this movie regardless.

OK, can someone please kindly detail to me how a composite shot works? They can't exactly just re-render these, can they? And what will they do with the computer effects? Were those rendered in 480p or put in the film? Just confused is all. Thanks to anybody who can help.

That said, I used to watch TNG in middle school when it was on G4 in-between their block marathons of Cops (which for the record I never watched.) I loved it, and still do. Just not enough to warrant buying the blus - I can't get invested in a show that long that ultimately doesn't really go anywhere*.

Just for giggles (and to teach myself VDub) I pulled out my PAL VHS tape of SotS. I realize that it is <span style="text-decoration: underline;">not</span> the measure for quality, as I believe the Mentor cap has replaced it. Nonetheless, I spent some time playing with the contrast and RGB ratios. Here are some screencaps. What do you guys think?

edit: I don't know how to get these images to show up. I would imagine you could copy the URL into your browser to view them.

Img code is a little bizarre here. [ img = URLHERE ]. I've fixed that for you here.
