Frink, I think skyjedi deserves a bit of a real explanation.

Skyjedi,a as I gather Jeditray got a bit of constructive criticism and deleted his threads. He then got annoyed that he didn't get some DVDs he wanted and started bagging on the entire community. He then canceled his project numerous times. He also has apparently harassed Adywan behind the scenes, which appears to be in-character. However, JediTray is not a part of the problem that this is a members-only club; although I would say that's a bit of an issue. That's bound to happen at any forum, though...

That would be a great project actually. I wonder if anyone would try it, now that you've brought it up...

Protesting military funerals is one thing. But planning to protest the funeral of the innocent child who died during the recent Arizona shooting, Christina Green, is beyond appalling. I rarely say this seriously, but burn in hell. Suffer. Seriously. The poor 9 year old only wanted to meet her congresswoman.

Huh? Puggo, I think you misread the post. It's not in a literal sense of shrinking the movies; it's the discussion of whether or not Lucas shrank the universe itself with all of his coincidences that seem to occur to either wrap things up or tie them together.

I'm not really much for long posts so I'll try and make this brief. Anchorhead once said that Lucas shrank the Star Wars universe by connecting characters together when they didn't need to be - for example, did Lando really need to own the Falcon before Han? Not really. I've been thinking about this, and he really has a point. Most of my examples will be PT ones, but just to start off:

-Anakin building 3PO. Unneeded connection.

-Count Dooku being Qui-Gon's master. Sure, it's a nice reminder that the only interesting character from the previous movie is gone, but is it needed? Certainly not. He could/should have been any regular old rogue Jedi.

-Anakin being raised on Tatooine. Perhaps not so bad, but he could have been found ANYWHERE in the vast Star Wars universe. He was there no reason other than Lucas's "poetry in motion" and the fact that it was already a popular, well-established locale that people would enjoy revisiting.

-Luke and Leia being siblings. The quality of the plot device is debatable, but there's no doubt that it shrank the universe. Characters that were once from completely different worlds basically came from the same one, even if they didn't get raised in it.

I'm sure there are more examples, but I'm a little tired and this is all I got tonight. Any other thoughts? Disagreements?

It's really sad to see just how much better simple color tweaks makes Geonosis look.

Anyway, my favorite scene is Vader's funeral. It mirrors the original Binary Sunset quite well, and it really gives closure to the movies. If it were up to me, that would be the final moment of the movie - placing it after the celebration.

I think that ROTJ looks fantastic in the SE, aside from the previously-mentioned lightsaber shorts I can't find any real fault with it. Then again I'm sure I didn't look very hard...

D_J, I honestly say don't sweat it. You and g_force have done plenty for the community as-is; people can adjust their TVs and such as desired on their own. If you don't think you can find the right setting, don't bother stressing yourself about it.

TMBTM did something similar for his silent edits. I definitely agree that it makes him a stronger character, and wish they'd done it that way at first.

Qui-Gon is definitely my favorite prequel-only character. It's such a shame he was so under-utilized, Liam Neeson is a fantastic actor. And, in the EU, Qui-Gon's a badass. It's a shame it was up to the EU to flesh out what could have been a great character in the movies themselves; that really shouldn't happen.

I wouldn't believe everything you read on the internet. By now, the people who've capped the HD screenings would have been able to tell that they're just upscales. I guess it wouldn't surprise me though...
