If we get some extra deleted material on the new release and the existing deleted material in good quality (Fingers crossed) this film could very well turn out to be something very special.

a new release?
when?
last i know is the japanese dune box.

Koch Media are Releasing a new transfer in 2020 both Versions… It has new extra’s Licensed such as the cine film Sean young shot during production… But that is all that is currently known.

4th Rock, I have been playing about with the opening part a bit and I am getting more conviced that having to talk about planet names in anyway shape or form apart from Arrakis is where this film is faltering.

New order at the moment really want to get the start nailed proper.

start as in theatrical

Caladan meet the main characters up until ā€œThe Sleeper must awakenā€

Ship Landing on Kaitain and Emperor.

We need to take a look at Paul Atreides into Pauls dream.

footage was bridged using shots of waves from ā€œBig Wednesdayā€

I have discovered the TV prologue has the Original cue for the Opening with the Waves on Caladan the Castle and the Window of Paul’s Study

a perfect Matte shot for the Sietch on Arrakis could be the mountain matte from Conan the Destroyer Opening Credits (Funnily enough in production at the same time and same studio by same company as Dune)

Dune really looked it’s best with the Albert Whitlock Matte shot of the ships Landing and as many others have stated the effects are un-even aside from Worms and Carlo Rombaldi’s foreground miniatures and so on… It Kind of feels to me the more I look at this film at it’s opening it does not want to be a sci-fi film but evolves into one, but it does want to have worlds or environments but more like traditional Matte shots seem to really suit the film.

I started thinking about Using the Albert Whitlock Matte for ā€œthe Islandā€ but composite the castle Caladan miniature on the top to even that out in some way visually. The shot of the castle in the rain does sell the castle better in my opinion from the TV cut.

I don’t mind the Designs for the Ships in the Film apart from the Ornithopter but it feels like it needs some sort of subtle expansion although my mind has currently changed a bit on this now it needs more environment with a splash of vehicles visually.

But as you can see the Albert Whitlock really feels Dune and the Rest just don’t really… So anyway there is some thoughts on art. The Ron Miller Still might be for the filmbook weather report?

The Matte at the end is an unused matte from the film.

there is low interesst in this.maybe you should do your own version…

Would it be possible for this scene to be reshot to include a gloved hand?

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qQB2NXfJev0&t=39s

The DS crew in this scene are all wearing black gloves but then in the next shot a gloveless hand is shown pushing a button.

Adywan, you could use your own hand for that shot.

Why not just erase the whole hand?

no.

It does not add anything vital to the scene.

Try xnviewmp

It might be a .PIC still image or a .PICT for that scene not video?

Have a look through the image files on the CD-ROM you can save them as Jpegs with that program

The first one is the deleted scene just before the stormtroopers looking for 3PO and R2, when they are locked inside a building.
The third one looks like the Jabba scene in ANH.

i“m afraid you don“t read correctly.
i ask for the first where the place is in the movie (for insert them),not what this is.
i have all these scenes and i know them.

for the third i“d like to know from which source this is.

Here is a quick look at the opening shot of ANH:RHD. The one good thing about having to start everything from scratch is that i am able to utilise sources that were not available at the time, like HD scans of many of the original Matte Paintings. Plus i have learned a great deal since i completed ANH:R, so i am able to fix a few things that i wasn’t able to fix first time around. It would have been impossible to accurately recreate the original version anyway.

And fixed the background issue with the trooper…

nice to see the changeā€¦šŸ˜ƒ
