Han shot first!!!!!!!

"Get my shuttle!"

No Jedi Rocks scene!

Theatrical cut rules!

I am buying this new DVD set because I think it's the best we're going to get from GL. At least I'll be able to see the trilogy the way I did when I first saw them back in 1995, but this time on glorious DVD.

You guys are right though. GL could have given us the real thing and not some 1993 laserdisc transfer. However is that going to happen? I've been waiting for this OOT DVD release to come to reality for years now. I tried to get it in 700mb format and actually succeeded back in 2005 with the ISOMIX version from the 1988 VCD. Then my harddrive died and (weep) lost ROTJ. I finally have a 700mb format of the 1993 laserdisc release but ROTJ wasn't transfered right. Then came Sept 12th and my wish was finally granted on a permanent basis. How long do DVDs last?

Episode IV: What Has Changed?
Time
I'll be blunt. George Lucas should have kept his films unchanged, do the THX remastering stuff but don't change the films. Too late for that now but no point brooding. We have a chance to watch this trilogy on DVD. I purchased ROTJ and will do the same for this one and ESB. I believe George when they say this opportunity won't come again. He seems to hate the original versions of his great trilogy. Who am I to argue with the creator of Star Wars?

Episode VI: ROTJ - What Has Changed?
Time
I liked the new ending for ROTJ. The only new scene I didn't like was the infamous Jedi Rocks scene. I felt it didn't fit in with the rest of the movie or the trilogy as a whole. It seemed they really wanted to show off the new CG of the time and dazzle the crowd with some crappy music video. Whenever I watch the SE version of ROTJ I fastforward or mute that scene. The rest of the trilogy was great really. What was that new victory soundtrack called again?

What Special Edition changes (if any) did people like?
Time
I felt ANH SE was really well done. ESB SE was great except for Vader's line being changed from an angry, demonic "bring my shuttle!" to a brooding "alert my star destroyer to prepare for my arrival." Also Luke's screaming as he falls down was not needed.

My only real gripe with the SE was in ROTJ when they replaced Lakti Nek with the infamous Jedi Rocks scene. It really detracted from the movie experience and quite frankly didn't fit with the rest of the movie or the trilogy as a whole.

Try to take it easy with the Lucas bashing.

I'm looking forward to actually buying this piss-poor DVD, knowing (a) my 4:3 TV will display it just fine and that (b) it will give me the legal excuse to have the X0 project, seeing as how they're both derived from the same master. The official one should be fine until X0 gets into my hands.

Meanwhile, I hope GL continues to entertain me with his 3D editions, his Archival Editions, and I especially look forward to when he officially releases the ADM editions as his official vision.

ADM version? I never heard of that one before. I personally am happy George Lucas is giving us this chance to own the movies on DVD. No more need for bootleg copies. I think they should have been released this way 6 years ago. Forget the 2004 version. In that version you could see the frames around the TIE fighters as they moved and it made the space battles look dated than they looked on VHS.

I don't think I can really bash a man who gave us such great movies. Star Wars is still popular 30 years later. That in itself shows how great these movies were and only George Lucas himself could have created such wonderful films. I almost forgot to mention the tremendous work of his team that made his vision a reality and for us, something we'll watch again and again for years to come.

Time to get the VCR rolling...

I would prefer a special special edition :O)
Time
I think George Lucas opened a big debate when he made the SE version of the Star Wars Trilogy. I for one am looking forward to the new DVD coming out in Sept. Anamorphic or not I'd like to see Star Wars on DVD. Unfortunately I can see the day when the 1997 SE version is released on DVD, for completion. It's a shame because the only things I didn't like about SE was the jedi rocks scene in ROTJ, Luke screaming during his fall at the end of ESB and Han not shooting first in ANH. Why change what worked? I think the guys at Lucasfilm need to be reminded about the old saying, IF SOMETHING"S NOT BROKE DON'T FIX IT!

Niteshdw's sci-fi site becomes MPAA watchdog
Time
I think the MPAA is being really silly here. Do they plan on selling 700mb versions of their movies? What if people like George Lucas say NO? Does the MPAA know what a 700mb movie would look and sound like on a TV? Pretty crappy quality I think, and not worth their time, effort or money.

It would seem the MPAA got to Niteshdw’s sci-fi torrent site. They’ve got their moderators acting like MPAA hoodlums, threatening members of their own site just to make the MPAA happy. One of the site’s moderators went so far as to threaten one of their members via a PM that his/her IP address would be released for MPAA use. It’s a shame to see such a great torrent and forum site go down that way. The MPAA dosen’t even have to do anything anymore, the moderators for that site are doing the MPAA's dirty work.
