Wookie Groomer's 1080p Star Wars Saga project (Released)
Time

Nice, thanks Wookie for moving fast towards the end here.  Though I get that Menace will porbably need/take more time as your crescendo.  I just looked at Across the Stars again and it looks like a would be a real huge pain to do.  I can't help but think if it has to be a new version sans the BTS footage, seeing how thats all in unavoidable SD.  Like Battle of the Heros I'm sure it'll be great, but if its too hard don't feel that extras for the BD50 are an absolute must.  Thanks again.  And now my interest wanders to the future and this mystery mono project.

Info Wanted: dvd.starwars.com archive (anyone archived it before it went down?)
Time

*sorry for the lame posts, they would get screwy on their own then editing seems to not work for me*  Yeah, I tracked down every back issue and subscribed to the Insider for a whole number of years there.  Then sometime after the release of Sith the whole thing went to crap.  It became a complete waste of paper and I cancelled.  Was there a sw.com commentary for Empire?  I though that there was just one for New Hope.

Star Wars Saga on Blu-ray (a joint venture project)
Time

I know this place is "original trilogy", but how about leaving this version be.  Color correction will add picture noise unless you up the rate like WG did.  And to even do CC the way it should you need a professional setup, not just whole scene altering.  2 BD50s is a neat idea, but I'm for upping the bitrate of each slightly so they'll each fill a BD25.  This way there's piece of mind in them being as good as the originals.  No need for changes, menus, extra audio, just a nice simply showcase of them with the best picture quality.

For TPM one or two whole scenes and certain vfx elements were shot using an earlier version of the digital camera, so those parts are locked in 1080p too.  I just never liked that for menace they scanned the film, then did everything digitally, then made the dvd from a print master instead of directly from the digital files.  I guess they thought it would make for a more uniform look, but if they were going for preserving the film look then why not do the same for 2 and 3.  It will be interesting to see what is done for the official bluerays.

THE STAR WARS SAGA - 1080P AVCHD DVD-9 for PS3 & Blu-Ray players - Episodes 1, 4 & 5 available now
Time

I saw it 4 or 5 times in DLP form, The additional Padme stuff was not added until the dvd, that and some stuff with Jango's jet pack b4 he dies.  I'm pretty sure the DLP differed from the film prints only with additional shots of Anakin's new mechanical hand during the closing wedding scene.

Hopefully these new releases will appear just after my exams finish, and I can really relax with some glorious HD star wars :p.

I hear that.  I'm a week away from finishing college, and I can't think of anything else that'll bring me back to life from the nightmare that I'm currently going through than these releases maybe beginning sometime soon.

Anyone have suggestions on how to fix the audio on the AVCHDs of Ep 1 and 2?  I thought if there may be a way to unmux the M2TS file then mux it back with the ac3 audio from the dvds, but I predict having sync issues.  Also this process is only good if it and the subsequent re-authoring back into an AVCHD can be done without re-encoding the video.  PLEASE anyone got any ideas for this?  This has become the ultimate tease for me, I'm foaming at the mouth to watch these, but this pretty much kills the whole saga for me.

Yeah thanks Wideload, if you, or anyone else can let me know if the WG versions have the correct audio.  If they do I at least kind of have a way to maybe get a fix for this.  I'm on a mac here though, and pretty much have zero options for making AVCHDs.

Sky although this HD EP 1 still has many of the same problems, its like night and day compared to the dvd.  Still grain and EE, but the increase in detail pretty much makes up for it.  For me this was the major problem when I got my HDTV a year ago.  I sat down to watch the dvds, starting with TPM and I had to stop like a min in.  2 through 6 are kind of decent but EP1 was just unwatchable.  With these menace still has the worst picture out of the 6, but it is still pretty great.  I just hope that for the official BR they go straight from the digital files and not have the extra film step that the transfer has now.

This is really the best way to watch all of them, its just this dam audio issue on 1 and 2 that keeps perfection out of reach.

I didn't keep the notes that came with the rar files, but I'm pretty sure thats where the poster said that they made them from.  And my Ep 1 has the german subtitle mistake at the kids scene that was talked about earlier as being in the WG release.  Lithiumus seems to be the maker, or knows the one who did these versions.  PLEASE help?  Its just an error that seems to have been corrected by episode 3, cause it and the OT seem fine.  It was just a harsh jolt of too good to be true.  They're still great to have, but the flaw is kind of major.

And although I appreciate Adywan's versions and the work he has done I find, so far at least by comparing 4 and 5, that these PS3AVCHD versions have slightly better pictures.  Im assuming thats from having just the one smaller dvd audio track.  And besides I can deal with Han's shot, but I prefer the updated 2004 versions.

Any help here would be hot, but I guess this isn't a small fix.
