Idea: babyhum's proposed new Studio Ghibli project (* unfinished project *)
Time
Interesting views on the Disney releases. I personally am not touching them. I'm a bit of a purest. I have all of the Ghibli titles on Region 2 Japanese DVD I even prefer the original Laputa dub.
The purpose of this project WHEN it gets started is NOT to do anything with the movies. I am only interested in collecting and documentary or interview footage for this project.

OK. Before this thread goes COMPLETELY off topic, all i'm asking if anyone has any material that could be included in this project could they let me know. Before anyone asks I have ALL the Japanese R2 DVD's so i'd only be interested in other TV sourced documentaries or a collection of the Behind The Microphone docs.

Thank you.

do you plan to include the original trailer of Castle of Cagliostro, part of the dvd released in Uk by Optimum.

I have the french theatrical trailer for Porco Rosso if you want it

I have the UK Manga release of CoC. Is this the version you are taking about?

Idea: babyhum's proposed new Studio Ghibli project (* unfinished project *)

Here’s something I’d like to spend some of my (very little) time on as well as my Star Wars preservation series.

I’m a HUGE fan of Hayao Miyazaki and the work of Studio Ghibli (Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, Tonari No Totoro for the uninitiated). I want to start a small preservation project possibly called ‘The Ghibli Archives’ in which I can collect any behind the scenes clips, interviews, TV specials featuring Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli.

At the moment I have the following:
Teletoon (a french animation show) featuring a report on Studio Ghibli and and interview with Miyazaki.
Manga, a BBC documentary with Jonathan Ross featuring an interview with Miyazaki
Japanorama, another BBC documentary with Jonathan Ross featuring an another interview with Miyazaki

Japanorama is digitally sourced from satellite onto DVD. The others are PAL VHS transfers.

I’m looking for better transfers than I already have and also ANY more clips I can put onto a series of DVD’s, especially a DVD recording in 16x9 of the ARTE special that was broadcast in France, and any Japanese documentaries.

Please reply or PM me if you can help with this project.

And yes, the Star Wars releases will continue soon.

regards
babyhum

Info Wanted: quality of various "Making Of" documentaries on the LD's?
Time
I'll be rereleasing all four of the Japanese documentaries (Dr.Gonzo's were from my source material) as individual titles shortly. I'm just deciding whether to transfer them to a DVD recorder or capture them via an ADVC 50 or 110 before encoding them with CCE. Does anyone have any experience with the Canopus products before I purchase one?

BH, what are your sources for the Making of SW and Empire? Just curious cause I've done my own versions.

They are indeed the Japanese remastered laserdiscs.

Ah. It's really too bad about those subtitles. I'd rather take my VHS sourced once (which look great) than having japanese subtitles written all over it.

It is too bad, but, before anybody starts bitching about the subtitles on these forthcoming releases, I'm releasing them purely for those who want a better quality image and of course, our Japanese friends who would appreciate a subtitled release. There are plenty of non-subtitled versions out there. Maybe DFNYC would want me to release his transfers?

I'm afraid the only hard copies that I send out are for torrenters, news posters and distributors. I'm afraid I get at least 5 requests a WEEK asking for discs and I'm afraid I neither have the time or the money to fulfil those requests. Try myspleen.net, alt.binaries.starwars or if you live in or near Australia, ask Klokwerk.

-The Making of Star Wars as told by C-3P0 & R2-D2 - 1977
SP FX: The Empire Strikes Back - 1983 - The “Dr. Gonzo” Edition

-Classic Creatures: Return of the Jedi - 1983
From Star Wars to Jedi: The Making of a Saga - The “Dr. Gonzo” Edition

My internet connection prohibits me from downloading all of these, so i'm hoping someone can help me out. I don't have much to offer in trade, but I'd gladly offer the following: 25 pack of TDK DVD-R printable discs plus the cost of shipping the discs to me. The discs don't need to be labeled or have cases, I'll create that myself. If someone can help me out, please email me at rickwj324@juno.com

Thanks!

Funny you should want the Gonzo editions of the Making Of documentaries. They're my original transfers which I will eventually rerelease under the bh logo.
