//RETURNING TO JEDI\\: NTSC & PAL DVD
Time
Originally posted by: DarthFagan
Ok guys, I am a newbie at this looking for a little sage like advise! I recently got the Video files for Returning to Jedi from a Torrent. The problem is I am not sure how to create the DVD. I read that I need a Double length DVD, so I am going to Staples tonight to pick one up. I have Nero 6 to burn DVDs. Is it as simple as dropping all the files onto a DVD and burning it, or do I need an additional program to create this DVD. In Addition, does anyone know were I can find the Empire version? This stuff seems great!

For info on burning DL DVD's, check out the Technical Help/Request thread.

Star Wars: Classic Edition 2.0 NEW from Ocpmovie (Released)
Time
"Hey you guys, it's OCP. I'm back! I am going to need to buy a new monitor because my SW:CE Version 2 didn't turn out quite the way I wanted it to. I know, I know - I just had to get a new DVD burner! Anyway, in honor of this occassion, I am going to do an ultra-limited special edition run of Star Wars: Classic Edition Version 3 for just a select few! Real copies of MY movie on real DVD-R's! And you can get them for the low low price of only $40 a piece! Just remember, the Classic Edition IS Star Wars - not the way it was, but the same way you've been ripped off on it for the past 30 years!"

NOTE: The preceding was just me making fun of the whole charging for DVD's things. The Classic Editions are not for sale by me and they shouldn't be for sale by anyone else. Don't buy them.

Although I’ve never seen this documented in any film sound history timeline, I always recall an ad that ran for many weeks in the New York Times in the mid eighties for a film presentation featuring digital sound….I finally found this from Boston Light and Sound regarding the engagement:

“HOME OF THE BRAVE” A film by Laurie Anderson (April 1986)
Digital sound presentation at the 57th Street Playhouse, New York City. To our knowledge, this is the first public presentation of a feature in digital sound. System included S.M.P.T.E. time code on 35mm composite magnetic film controlling VHS tape. Playback via 4-channel quad-amped system.
CLIENT: Cinecom

Laurie Anderson is awesome.

I got reasonably good results working from the 2004 DVD (remove left/right/surround) but there's still some soundtrack bleed, maybe I'll get better from a 5.1 based on the 97 lasers. My idea is to lay everything on a multitrack in Audacity, tweak up a few things (with the mono mix), and create a whole new mix.

If nothing else, it would sound neat to have a "mostly isovoice" mix.

Molly - How much work have you done on this? I am really needing isolated sandspeeder noises for a project I am working on.

Have you tried the radio dramas. There are quite a few isolated FX that could be used. I'm sure you could find some speeder FX you could use

Ooh - good idea! Thanks!

What were your original expectations for the PT?

Having watched the OT numerous times between 1996 and 1999, I went into Episode 1 with a bit of optimism. What can I say, I was impressionable. I bought into the pre-release hype, the silly fast food promotions at places like Pizza Hut (in fact, there's a really old picture of me posing with a Jar-Jar Binks cutout at a Pizza Hut), and I went into the film expecting a lot of long lines. When I saw it, I couldn't understand what was going on in the film. I liked the end fight, but I practically groaned out loud when widdle Anakin Skywalker goes "Yippee!" and blows up a ship by himself. That was really weak. I went to see II and III more out of loyalty to the brand then anything else.

I worked at Pizza Hut during the Phantom Menace madness. We all got to dress like prequel characters for work. It was pretty fun. And, before the movie came out.

WOOKIE GROOMER PRESENTS: ADDICTED TO STAR WARS (Released)

Oh, BTW, I'm not on the forums often enough to know this but are the crappy "original trilogy" DVD's that came out last year accurate enough to justify creating a new and accurate Episode IV splitscreen v2.0? I want to make it better and I would rather use retail quality stuff and not bootlegs. Also, if it is, are they DVD9 or DVD5? I would redo it as a DVD9 and would use the source DVD's as they are with no re-encoding to make the quality bestest as possible. I don't have them since they were not anamorphic.

They are DVD9's.
