i met Dave Prowse and Paul Blake this weekend!
Time

i attended the EM-CON event held in Nottingham two days ago and was lucky enough to have advance entry tickets, as i walked into the main room right in front of me were the gaffer himself and a blaster happy twerp! both of them were really nice people, listening to me babbling on about the time when i first saw star wars in 77 with my dad, who asked me if i'd not rather watch close encounters which was playing on the other screen at the old odeon Nottingham (demolished two years ago now)

oh, and never try to tell stormtroopers these aren't the droids you're looking for if you aren't actually a Jedi-

Here.

Scroll down to the comments section and look who posted first (and so far, is the only one who has posted).  ROFL.

I picture this guy as being the character in those 70 and 80s American high school comedy films where he's the annoying dween in the class that gets bashed by all, but no one feels sorry for him, because well...he just really deserves it for being a parasite of society.

bloody hell, they don't like mild criticism much there do they?-

Star Wars has risen again? well… if your head is upside down!

this is a sad day, Star Wars died today for many fans! look at boards and discussions everywhere!

THIS IS HOW STAR WARS DIES… WITH THUNDEROUS APPLAUSE!

Most of all I pity the authors and officials who by contract can’t voice their own concern and worries but have to applaud this news.

    Ceiranharmony,

If you and so many others have so many problems with this news then please refrain from being a fan. A great many people share my optimistic views of this news and are looking forward to what the future will bring. And we’d like to do that without people like yourself spoiling it for us. "

Glee to resurrect Star Wars Christmas special

The Glee Christmas episode is up for HuluPlus members. Anyone going to risk it, or do I have to?

It was on SKY1 tonight and i decided to check it out. What a mistake that was. How the hell can people actually watch this crap? Well, after all the hype about chewie being in it he was on screen for all  of about 3 seconds. It was a blink and miss it cameo. The only other star wars related stuff was the opening of their TV special, which was a nod to the holiday special opening titles and 2 characters dressed as Luke and Han. That was it. And boy was it cringe-worthy. I wanted to gouge out my eyes and rip off my ears after watching that.

I did try to warn you!

Any favorite Star Wars scenes?
Time

whilst i have to say that binary sunset is my all time favourite scene from any film i've seen, what about the first 2 minutes?

to set the scene (scuse the pun!) a little, i saw star wars in 77 aged 11, it was only the second time i'd been to a cinema in my life and i watched this-

the blockade runner blasts past, engines screaming, obviously at full power. wow thats a big spaceship thinks i.

enter the star destroyer.

ten times the size of the blockade runner, easily catching up, but only seeming to glide, engines on low power.

i'm getting goosebumps now!

hi all as you might guess from my avatar i do enjoy the occasional mst3k episode. however whilst enjoying the episode called "san francisco international" i could swear that two of the villans were indeed veers and madine (the guy who gives the shuttle briefing in ROTJ, not sure if i got the name right!) in a previous "life"

see what you guys think-

they are best seen at about 3:18 int the cop car.

X-wing Ejection

I googled

"In emergencies, the X-wing's Guidenhauser ejection seat can throw the pilot clear of the fighter. Separator charges blast the cockpit canopy free, and also launch the astromech unit from the socket"

http://www.starwars.com/databank/starship/xwing/

and what happens to a human in space

http://www.howstuffworks.com/question540.htm

 aah......

today i gave this a bit more thought, and its perfectly understandable that porkins would try to stay with his ship, after all who would want to be wafting around above a giant battle station that may well explode like a supernova?there were no rescue ships as far as i could tell, in the rebel fleet and another comparison i thought of was pilots in the pacific in WW2. if they baled out of a stricken plane there was no real guarantee they would be picked up, and space is a lot bigger than the pacific!

p.s. although if you could reach a earth type planet in time you could then bale out

but thats taking a hell of a chance with your life!

Childhood Misconceptions (aka The Trap Thread, but misconceptions still welcome)

In a similar vein for decades I thought General Kala said "Dispatch Warlock and Ajax to bring back his body" in Flash Gordon and wondered what happened to the second ship.

It was yesterday, yes yesterday (not A LIE featuring PETER MAYHEW coming soon to DVD!) that I discovered it was "send war rocket Ajax".

i always thought that bit was-

"dispatch warlokken agents to bring back his body"!

Pick one up, sluggo.  They're a VERY EASY way to get back into building.  You can practically just throw an open tube of glue in the box, shake and out pops a completed kit.

 thats about right!

i started with the tie because it looked the easiest kit to find my way with fine molds kits. its a very detailed well thought out kit, the best part being that the black panels are separate parts that can be painted then placed into the frames

heres a couple of pics of the build-

I don't know if Lucas has ever admitted the influence, but I've read about the similarities to The Dam Busters since the 70's. Having finally seen the movie on TCM recently, I understand now!

Peter Jackson's remake ought to be interesting.

Phantom of Krankor avatar for the win! :)

the first mst3k i ever watched! and the best (with agent from harm a close second!)
