I'm considering buying the set, only if to see what improvements there might be to the films. Could you (or someone) post screenshots of all of the significant changes?

huh? the 1997 se version is by far the worst edition of the sw films available. the 2004 dvd edition is at least slightly improved in some areas. the pirating of the OT def ed are at least somewhat justifiable, but for this, it's just plain piracy

I'm considering it... if only to partially justify my downloading of the tr-47 dvds, and because I'm a bit intrigued by how good the film might look now that it's been digitally remastered. but first, is the blaring lips singer still in ROTJ? if you're gonna fix the greedo scene, at least fix that POS.

yes, they can. it can be done when the camera angle changes. for instance, I just watched the TR-47 ANH, and some parts are really bad looking, like the jawa sections. The transitions would be near impossible to do, which is why that part shouldn't be bothered with. however, within the scenes, there are camera angle changes, and that's where it could be done.

hey assholes, I may loathe the special editions, but I also remember that star wars is his baby. comments calling him "childish" and "selfish" really reflect on the person saying them.

well, I for one would not want to watch star wars on my pc. I'd want to watch it in it's full glory on my big screen

so yes, you've still got alot of time if you want to make the perfect copy.

also, you might want to look into the laserdisc player that you have. that would probably be where the greatest differences in quality can be seen

I'm all for it. although, if I'm correct, the TR-47 set is pretty close to perfect, and that's on single layer discs.

so,

consumer electronics have advanced by leaps and bounds so the quality will probably be pretty good, although pro-lvl equipment would be preferable if at all possible.

I think you should still consider the splicing the remastered prints from the new dvds with the correct scenes from the def. ed laserdiscs. You've still got a lot of time because as of now, dual layer dvd-r's are 15 bucks each (!).

the ultimate edition splices the good of the SE star wars trilogy with the awesomeness and accuracy of the original trilogy laserdisc cuts.

so, here's a list of scenes that I can think of off the top of my head

SE good

1. SE trilogy Yavin base. the temple looks much better, as it is in the background and is not moving.... keep that part of the SE

SE bad

2. GREEDO SHOOTING FIRST. everyone hates this, but I had to mention it

3. cut the jabba the hut scene that was restored in the first movie

4. no more of the scream when luke falls down

5. restore the original combat movement for the spaceships

6. cut out all moving cgi

7. restore original ending

8. restore original ice monster part.

and on another note

since, dual layer dvd burners are out... and the SE dvds are out... has anyone thought of making this SE edition?
