Iron Man 1-3 Mash-Up Fan Edit (* unfinished project *)
Time

Hi.

Quite funny...only this weekend I was thinking of doing the exact same project you're up to. I got as far as having an idea of seauging the bit where Tony admits he's Iron Man to the press with the big charity gala he attends in armor at the start of Two. I'm excited about your approach with the Mandarin as a real entity rather than as an actor, I havent seen the recent one-shot yet, but I look forward to how it's used.

I wouldnt be too fussed about the perceived 'lack of interest', more often than not some people need to be shown the intent of your project in order to properly gauge an opinion. I'm sure when you start posting clips you'll get more traction in here.

It'd also help if you could establish a timeline for your edit listing the changes

Star Trek: Dare Against Darkness (a ST 2009/Into Darkness Hybrid) (not released)
Time

Putting together an HD Star Trek 2009/Into Darknesss hybrid edit using the blu-rays. Here’s some of what to expect

-Chronological timeline has been rearranged, we begin with Kirk watching the Enterprise under construction, then flash forward three years later to his recruitment by Pike, another three years pass after the destruction of Vulcan and we see Kirk graduate and begin serving under Pike

-Destruction of Vulcan takes place whilst Kirk, Uhura and McCoy are still at the academy (Spock, Sulu and Checkov are on the Enterprise under Pike)

-Nero is now repurposed as just a nasty war-mongoring alien with no ties to time travel or any other contrived bollocks.

-No apperance from future Spock

-Spock remains Kirk’s first officer throughout, no transfer

-Ending trimmed to omit the Enterprise malfunctioning, Kirk’s disney death, Spock yelling Khan, the Vengeance crash-landing, and Spock chasing Khan through the city. Instead Khan is simply defeated when Spock detonates the missiles and cripples the Vengeance.

Here’s a test draft I developed using the standard DVD of 2009 (I’m getting the blu-rays for my birthday)

This sounds bad, I'm sorry but someone close to Bond always dies in the movies. It would be too jarring to have everyone live, just like Bond getting married....it's wrong!

True, but keep in mind Ian Flemming once did give Bond something of a  happy ending in the "You Only Live Twice" novel, tying up all the loose ends and leaving him with amensia and a wife...didnt last too long mind you.

Oh ,there's an idea to try...go with Peter Hunt's proposed ending for OHMSS and end the film with Bond and Tracy driving off into the sunset (granted though, part of that proposal was killing her off in the pre-credits of Diamond), Diamonds was crap anyway so it's probably better to pretend the original SPECTRE-driven era of Bond ended happily

Anyway, it's not all a happy ending, as Sylva's prostitute still dies, I still maintain that sense of ruthlessness required for a Bond film.

Time

OLD VERSION: WAITING FOR THE NIGHT (Now Discontinued)

A 1hr, 18 minute cut of Skyfall with a happy ending for (almost) everyone.

Timeline

-MGM/Columbia Logo
-Film opens with M writing Bond’s obituary
-M and Mallory discuss the loss of the list and the trasnsition building to her retirement-
-MI6 attacked
-Bond in a right state abroad, hears of the attacks on the news
-Opening credits. Depeche Mode’s “Waiting For The Night” plays instead of Adel’s “Skyfall”
-Aftrt the titles, we open on M looking over the caskets of the fallen MI6 employees
-Bond visits M at her home
-Bond visits the new MI6 headquarters.
-Bond goes through the training and gets breifed. Psychiatric evaluation failed because he calls M “bitch”. Skyfall reference omitted
-Bond removing the bullet shrapnel from his chest cut, as well as all reference to it, since the opening pre-credits has been cut, we don’t see him being shot with the bullet that clues them in to Petrice, instead it’s just implied they’re going on Bond’s memory, which will become a bit clearer later. I’ve had to do a bit of creative editing here.
-M tells Bond to await further instructions at Shanghai, but does not tell Bond to “terminate” Petrice.
-Bond meets Q. Exchange between them heavily trimmed to omit the weird bit about not pulling anything in pyjamas. Q gives Bond his things after the much frostier line “every now and then a trigger has to be pulled”
-Bond flashbacks to the day he was accidently shot by Naomi Harras whilst swimming, just so this little mystery is wrapped up without having to cover the whole thing. Flashback ends when Bond hits the water and we cut back to him staring out at the pool
-Movie resumes as normal for a bit
-When Bond is on the boat, the scene of him activating the radio has been cut, it’s better when it’s revealed at the end.
-M and Mallory watch as more of the NATO agents are compromised. Dialouge trimmed to omit talks of the hearing.
-When reviewing Bond’s evaluation, Sylva does not bring up the “unresolved childhood trauma”
-Sylva is captured and has his scene with M. M reveals Sylva’s background to Bond.
-“Two Months Later”: Bond atop rooftop, Harras gives him the dog, as M’s job is done and she’s retired. No revelation she is Moneypenny or that Mallory is the new M (I wanted to keep this, but the continuity with Mallory’s arm prevented it)
-Gunbarrle ending. Credits.

New Version: Skyfall-Prodigal

A 50 Minute trim of Skyfall with a happy ending for everyone

Details coming soon

Superman V-Superman Returns Fanedit (Released)
Time

Currently in the final stages of tweeking. Will be converted to HD and uploaded to a torrent site tommorow.

Basicly, this is a 90-minute condensed version of Superman Returns, omitting several key storyline aspects such as the return from Krypton, the embittered ranting of Lois, and the super-kid. Instead Clark is the one that has been gone for a few years, with Kal-El devoting his whole time to being Superman. Clark reenters Lois life and we find out he cut himself off from Lois a while ago as Supes (sometime after Superman IV, explained in the opening text at the start of the film), so while there are traces of Lois’ frustrations with

The timeline is as follows (as of the new Redux edition)

-WB/Legendary Pictures/DC logos

-Wall of text over a starfield as the Planet Krypton theme plays, explaining what has happened since Superman IV

-Open on the Kent farm. Clark gets up, pets his dog, then goes out on patrol as Superman. Title of the movie placed at the scene where he is looking over the Earth hearing everyone, before thawrting the bank robbery

-Lex on the yaught, heads to fortress. Interaction with Jor-El cut entirely, as we know from Superman II he’s more than familiar with the set-up

-News reports at the Planet of Supes busy day, Clark arrives amd gets called to the cheif’s office.

-Lois aboard the plane testing out the space shuttle

-Lex tests out the crystal. Train set scene trimmed

-Clark switches to Superman. Him at the bar occurs much later in the movie, it’s implied he hears of the disaster at the Planet instead

-Superman saves the plane and disposes of the shuttle. Lois fainting is cut

-Lex sees the results of his experiment

-Clark meets Richard and the kid

-Lex reads the paper, headine referring to Supes returning cut, as he’s never been away

-Lois and Clark talk at the cab. Clark flies off

-Lois and Richard discuss Superman at home. We cut just before Lois can answer Richard’s question. The article “Why the world doesnt need Superman” is referenced more in a jokish fashion and has little emphasis on the story until the end.

-Museum robbery and Superman saves Kitty from crashing, unaware she is diverting him.

-Clark goes to the bar

-Kittie confronts Lex, minions work on the kryptonite shard

-Richard and Lois discuss the black-out, all references to Supes strengths and weaknesses cut

-Lois and Supes entire conversation on the roof and flight cut

-Superman discovers his fortress has been ransacked

-Lois goes to Lex’s yaught, is caught. Kid’s “you’re bald” line is cut

-Lex and Lois scene shortened to omit Lex suspecting the kid is Clarks, as he isnt in this cut

-Kid murdering the thug with the piano is cut.

-Clark switches to Superman and goes after them when he gets Lois’ memo. Scene shuffled to after Lois sinks to the floor of the hold feeling helpless. “Where has he gone?” headline shot omitted

-Film proceeds as normal until Supes gets beaten up, Lex’s “five years” thing is omitted.

-All of Jor-El’s narration while Supes is underwater cut.

-Lex telling Kitty millions of people will die is cut. She knows he means it, her act of treason is brought on by the brutality of the Super-beating instead.

-Supes recovers thanks to Lois and Richard, lifts the island, throws it into space.

-<span style=“text-decoration: underline;”>ENTIRE</span> Hospital scene is cut out.

-Lois finds herself unsure of what to do next when writing the article “Why the world needs Superman” calling back to her quip about the last article

-Lex chews Kitty out on the island

-Clark plays catch with his dog over at the Kent Farm. We’re back to where we started.

-Supes flies past the sun and winks at the camera

Doctor Who
Time

I know it's fashionable right now to deride Moffat and co, but I have greatly enjoyed this half-season and was bowled over by the sheer audacity and ambition of the finale....new idea and a great hook for the anniversary

And, really people, if you think the modern show is "food with sugar", really, take off your nostalgia blinders and realize the old show really wasnt any different. It's always been fun and utterly naff tv, I say that as a lifelong fan. It's not going to change. Ever.

Smallville: A Hint of Dread, A Hopeful Finish (Released)
Time

Me and a couple of Fanedit.org members have been brainstorming what to do with the Smallville series finale. Initially, my idea was just to cut out Lex Luthor losing his memories as well as the commercial break cuts to make it more of a theatrical experiance, but input from Mark Moore and Bionicbob inspired me to make more cuts. All in all, the edit will omit the following:

-All flash-forward scenes, including Chole reading that daft comic book to her kid, Clark and Lois’ “seven year wait”, and Lex’s ascent to presidency

-Tess Mercer’s murder

-Lex Luthor’s memories being erased

-The unneccersarily long flashback montage sequences prior to Clark learning to fly for the first time

Here’s the full edit timeline:

-Opening changed. Chole reading to her kid is cut out, instead we open with Apokolips heading to Earth and go to the opening titles
-Clark visits Jor-El and shuts down the fortress(footage taken from penultimate episode “Prophecy”)
-Oliver finds the bow of Orion, only for it to be destroyed by Granny Goodness and put under the trinity’s spell, commercial cut is edited out (also from “Priophecy”)
-Clark and Lois have a conversation at Watchtower (from “Prophecy”)
-Granny visits Tess at the Luthor Mansion
-Commercial cut after the unveiling of the gold kryptonite is edited out
-Scene with Clark at Jonathan’s grave edited to remove all references to Lois wanting him to move on from her. In this edit, their marraige almost goes off without any hitch.
-Clark and Lois making up at Lois’ apartment is omitted entirely seeing as there’s been no problem
-Third commercial cut when Clark and Oliver witness the arrival of Apokolips at the chapel is edited out
-Fourth commercial cut after Clark has the conversation with his parents is edited out
-Lionel’s transformation into Darksied’s host is followed immediatly by Lex awakening
-Lois bringing up Clark’s letter before the two say goodbye is cut out, as that letter plays a part in the edit’s ending.
-Some scene reshuffling here. Lois knocks out the bitchy reporter and takes her pass to board air force one, we cut to Luthorcorp where Lex opens the windows and looks out at the sky. Luthorcorp sign becomes LXCorp. Cut to Oliver preparing for war on the unholy three
-After Oliver defeats the trio, we cut to Luthor mansion for the Clark/Lex confrontation. All references to Tess are edited out, and instead the conversation begins after Lex tells of Lionel’s “change of heart”. Commercial cut to black after Clark leaves edited out.
-Another reshuffled scene, as we then cut to Lois aboard Air Force One
-Clark returns to the barn and battles Lionel, the flashback montage of the past ten years is shortened to just Clark watching it fleetingly. You definitely don’t need two and a half minutes to get the point across
-After Clark destroys Lionel, we cut back to Air Force One
-Clark arrives at the fortress, becomes Superman, saves Lois and Air Force One, pushes Apokolips out of orbit.
-Ending takes place two days later, Lois is now hesitant to marry Clark because of his responsibilites, but the letter from Clark gives us all a glimmer of hope she will reconsider some day.
-Final scene is from the season nine finale where the familiar red and blue blur flies past the Daily Planet globe and startles a plane

Superman II: The Prettiest Girl In The Cut (*unfinished - see info for updated project *)
Time

Mod Edit: finished project can be found here - Superman II: The Prettiest Girl In The Cut (SII/III Hybrid)

I was wondering if anyone else has entertained the idea of inserting Annete O’Toole’s scenes from Superman III into Superman II?

I’ve been watching both films lately and I’m trying to work around certain factors. I think to avoid very obvious love triangle issues (do we really want Clark pining for Lana while knocking up Lois at the same time? No), I think we should omit (just about) the entirety of the depowering storyline for this.

Here’s what I’ve got so far in the edit:
*Start with a recap of teen Clark and Lana in Smallville, then flash forward to Supes diverting the missiles, sending one into space, villains freed, head to Earth, “FREEEE”, into credits
*Clark gets the Smallville assignment from Perry, Lois goes away (in this cut, she’s being assigned to Paris, partially inspired by ADM’s Superman Redeemed)
*Lex and Otis discuss Superman in prison
*Superman saves the planet
*Clark meets Lana at the dance
*Lex escapes prison
*Clark and Lana tidy up the dance hall, Lana has the “one that got away” line
*Zod and co wreak havoc on the moon
*Clark saves Lana’s kid from the harvester.
*Lex and Tessmarcher at the fortress
*Clark tells Lana Superman will be at Ricky’s party
*Zod and crew touch down
*Superman honored by the town
*Paris hostage situaton
*Zod and crew terrorize town further
*Love struck Supes makes a diamond for Lana
*Lana decides to travel to Metropolis
*Zod and crew continue to attack the town, news begins to spread of the assault.
*Clark and Jor-El have a talk in the fortress. Jor-El brings up the crystal chamber
*Zod and crew conclude their terrorizing of the town
*Clark visits Lana and gives her the diamond. The audience does not know if Clark used the chamber.
*Zod and crew attack the White House
*Clark, Lana and Ricky at the bowling alley.

*Lex visits the villains

*Clark learns of Zod’s attack over the news (I’ve used scenes from Superman IV for this)

*Daily Planet attack by Zod and crew, “care to step outside?”. Conveying to the audience that he didnt use the chamber after all.

*Superman punches Non and he smashes into a building, causing a power outage that affects Lana and kid in the train
*Everything proceeds up to the Fortress, Supes tricks Zod and crew into depowering
*No Fortress destruction, no Clark/Lois kissing, no balcony farewell.
*Lois and Lana meet (how I’m going to get past Lois’ tan issue I don’t know, maybe a bit of text that reads “two months” later?)
*Supes brings the flag back to the White House. Apologises for being away. Supes flies away, winks at camera. Life goes on.

So far, it’s been going well.
