Info & Offer: Dead Presidents and Menace II Society - bonus discs
Time

Hi!

I have here two completed Bonus Discs of the films mentionend above. All material on the Criterion LDs have been transfered to DVD (including menus).

Since I cannot torrent these myself, I would like to ask someone here to do that.

PLUS: The two movies are currently being recaptured (including the audio commentaries) since there were some sound issues with the first attempt.

If anyone would be so kind to create covers the whole thing would be a great package for demonoid or myspleen!

Regards,
Zar1967.

Criterion Collection: Adventures of Baron Munchausen & The Fisher King (Released)

Good morning from Germany!

Okay then. If there are official releases with the English track, then there's no reason to worry about it.

It's definetely an official release! The same Czech label also released Ikarie XB1 - very recommended! You can check the review of that disc on: http://www.dvdtalk.com/dvdsavant/s1867ikar.html

The main film will carry English subtitles, whereas the extras may not.

Can you comment on the quality of that czech disc?

Well, since I own Ikarie XB1 myself and it is of excellent quality, I'd say that one must also look pretty good. Especially so, since those films are considered classics in the Czech republic!

EDIT: Go for it on the Hughes' films!

I will lay in a good word.

EDIT2: I wish we could upload new icons.

Yeah, would be nice.

Regards.

Hello!

I'm very enthusiastic about your LD-DVD-transfers and would like to point out, that there IS an official release of Count Prasil on DVD!

Released in the Czech Republic you can order it here:
http://www.dvdr.cz/zbozi_video.php?lang=en&shop=vi&id_zbozi=9367&pgnum=0&sfind=nazev%5DKdy%BE+Burian+pr%E1%B9il

As for other Criterion LD -> DVD projects, a friend of mine is working on the Hughes Brothers' Dead Presidents and Menace II Society to be transferred to DVD! I will ask him if he could make these available as torrents, if you don't mind.

Regards.

Idea & Info: Combining all the Criterion Efforts?
Time
Wow! Already a very nice reaction to my inital posting!

I'm afraid I cannot offer much technical advice - alas, I even passed on a great chance to buy a professional LD-player for a nice price, when I got my first collection of used laserdiscs. But then again, that was back in 1994.

Until very recently I considered this whole business of ld-transfers a rather hopeless effort - that was, until I had the chance to see some of citizen's, moth3r's and especially ocpmovies' LD-transfers!

It may be a good idea to ask those people for their advice (or even help). And since this should be a combined effort those people could teach some of us how to do the transfers themselves. The more who know how to do it, the better.

There are many more interesting discs out there that deserve preservation (check out some of the Japanese or European LDs that were released) and the Criterion LDs may only be the beginning of a much larger project!

Well, let us see, what we can do!

Best regards,
zar1967.

Idea & Info: Combining all the Criterion Efforts?

Hello!

Wouldn’t it be great if all this effort and time that has gone into preserving/transferring the Criterion Collection LDs to DVD was combined into one project?

The most excellent work that has been put into those discs will most certainly be lost to future fans of the movies if nothing is done about it now (the LDs are not getting any younger or better).

Some of those “Crits” have already been transferred to DVD - including THE GAME, SEVEN and BLADE RUNNER. A very nice effort! My compliments!

I’d also love to see:

  • The Adventures of Baron Munchhausen
  • Dead Presidents
  • Menace II Society

What do you think about it? Any suggestions?

Best regards,
zar1967.
