Already another WP, great! :)
Already another WP, great! :)
Great job Harmy! Like usual, your workprints looks stunning. And the last version of the trash compactor scene looked great too.
Yeah, we're still working on the project.
It will still take a loooong time though...
@vbangle: Try updating Jdownloader first.
Copy the link Harmy posted, go to the Linkgrabber tab and press "Add URLs", once Jdownloader tells you the link is online, click "Continue with all", then press the play button at the top left and it will start downloading.
After you start the download a popup window will appear, asking for the code just like the site would.

Would that site with all the 70mm frame scans be a good resource?
Did you this post by Harmy?
Compare those to the 70mm scans like they look on that site, and you'll instantly know the scans' color can't be trusted.
Example:
Thanks Harmy, it will be interesting to check this one out!
To everyone with speed problems: get Jdownloader, it usually helps a bit.
@stretch009: No idea. Somebody said temp ban is one week, but it's been more than one week now. Maybe it's a month?
The look of the scenes in that trailer makes the blu-rays fade in comparison.
Yeah, it would be nice if somebody could reupload it for everyone, since my sendspace links have been removed and my bandwidth is pretty busy at this time.
I too wanna stay neutral here, but I can tell you that DJ is a really nice guy once you get to know him.

Also, what's this blue colouration here from GOUT but not in the DEED workprint:
I checked and that's the smoke behind the sparks, it's kinda blue-ish.
I can confirm this. It's a color error in the SE versions.
When the sparks start flying, R2's blue panel color fades to pink and grey, and then fade back to color.
In the GOUT they keep their color.
Not an easy thing to fix unless one would layer the GOUT on top of those frames or something.

This cap was done with a Pioneer CLD-D790, would be nice to see this pressing captured by someone with a top of the line player such as a X9 or a X0 player. Right know I plan to just reupload a contrast corrected version of my original capture.
Ok, I'm still interested in seeing this. The samples you posted looked great. They somehow looked clearer than the old version.

Chroma-shift too?
Yeah but the chroma shift is only in ESB. I've already incorporated the fix for it in our script.
I don't think you guys should worry.
While I haven't talked to DJ since he got banned, I'm sure he won't give up this project just because of that. We're still in the process of cleaning up frames and we've finished more than half of the first movie.
We've also decided we're going to try and fix the color errors too, like Vader's belt lights, Luke's binoculars etc.
I'm very interested as well. :)
By the way msycamore, what LD player are you using?
Without much knowledge about the LD format, I remember reading somewhere that Pioneer X9 or X10 or something are the best LD players, so maybe for a second version it would be a good idea to let somebody with such a player do the capture?
Ok, the settings I meant to keep secret was the current color settings and curves. Not because I don't wanna share them, but mostly because when I made this thread I wanted input and critique to help me find the best settings.
Right now we're too far in the process with Blu V2 to go back to that state, and I know people will criticize it even now, they always do. Except now I'm 100% happy with them and I'm confident I can't do better. I worked for a long time to make the settings and curves.
And of course we don't want someone else to use this script right now to make their own version. Eventually someone could release their own version, modifying the color settings I made, saying they've improved what me and DJ have used as the base of our project for quite a while. Then the talk would start, and the critique, and so on. And we might've lost the will to keep working on it.
So no offense to anyone who wants to try the scripts out. Once we've presented the final version of our work, I will share the color settings and curves.
I'm sorry, but since this thread is so outdated, even the scripts you'll find here are. And the curves might be too.
I'm using new scripts and curves for dark_jedi's Blu V2, and we kind of want to keep the exact settings a bit secret, at least for now. I'll probably post the new color settings once that project is finished.
@Moth3r: It's MPC-HC, a very recent version. I guess MPC uses that point version you're showing there. Weird indeed.
Thank you so much Red5 for finding more.
And msycamore, I saw you updated the first post with my script, but there are some errors, for example:
w=trim(chroma,167939,168299)
x=trim(chroma,168237,168761).ChromaShift(C=2)
Copy-paste the one from my post instead, I've updated it correctly with Red5's latest finds.

Weird, have to check if my media player behave in the same way. Does the same thing happen on all your video files?
I don't know but I've checked a couple other strong red ones and it doesn't happen with them.
EDIT: I opened the blu-ray in avspmod using a script and there it's smooth. So it's MPC's fault.
I don't know about ESB and ROTJ, but I can tell you that in any version of SW the colors are inconsistent, and they've been confirmed to have been like that on some original prints as well.
Here are some examples from SW. Since GOUT-SW is so desaturated I'm using my script that boosts the colors so it's easier to see:
1 - Top shot has more red, especially visible in the whites on R2.
2 - Bottom shot has less yellow / more blue in it.
3 - Probably the most visible inconsistence in the movie, the bottom shot is pink tinted.

Not sure what blockiness of reds you describe seeing in other versions? I doubt any official video release have chroma sampling errors, but I guess you never know with Lucasfilm these days. Anyway, what Moth3r meant is the pixelated reds, easily seen on the stardestroyer's engine glows on your pic and Red 5's earlier pics in the thread. That's not in the source, you sometimes see this kind of errors on video material that has gone through some bad colorspace conversions.
Maybe it's media player classic's fault then. I see it in most Star Wars movies for some reason. Here's a closeup from the 2011 blu-ray, of the lasers firing between the star destroyer and Tantive:
@g-force: Here are some random screenshots from the first half of the film. I'm using my script that makes the colors a bit stronger so it's easier to see. (Using avspmod this time instead of MPC to avoid blocky reds)
@Moth3r: Ok, I'll check your examples when you've posted them.
@Everyone else: Is there any chance any of you could go through the whole movie and check if there's any more frames that needs to be added to the script?
You see, me and DJ are going to use it for the Blu V2 and before we render the movie, (a very long process) we wanna make sure we haven't missed anything.
Before starting the work on cleaning up frames for SW, I was checking ESB frame by frame for things that needed cleanup, and that's a ton of work already so I'd be very grateful for the additional help with the chroma shift.
And are we sure there is no chroma shifting at all in the first half?
@Moth3r: Actually, the blockiness of strong reds is there in a lot of versions of the movies. Even the 2011 blu-rays. Since it's there in the source, I think it's better to post a screenshot which is directly comparable to the source to see the difference.
