ROTS in the IMDb top 250!

AOTC clones is the odd one, even by prequel standards. TPM is obviosuly geared towards kids, ROTS is an attempt to get back in the good books of longtime fans, and AOTC is...well, I don't know. I've always assumed that that had something to do with the presence of John Halyes (it has that same sort of disjointed feel as ROTJ in places). As is typical with Lucas, the story is excellent, but the screenplay and dialogue and his skill at working with actors leaves much to be desired. The OT is understandably different stylistically from film to film; two proucers, three directors, three writers, and many other things. The PT, though? Lucas directed all three, completely wrote two, co-wrote on, and Rick McCallum produced all three, and still they strangely schizophenic. It doesn't make much sense. As long as I have high-quality version of the OOT, Lucas can follow his vision to his heart's content, but he doesn't seem to be sure what that is. If he can't the PT fit together with itself, how can he expect it to fit with the OT?

Well, the last Lord of the Rings film is at #4, and CASABLANCA is at #5, so...

You don't like Casablanca and Return of the King? The latter, I understand, even if I love it, for it has many detractors. But the former?
I think Ric was pointing out the absurdity of a film list that places a recent fantasy movie above what is generally accepted as a classic. I personally like both movies, but I think that is what Ric was trying to say.

I will buy these versions, and I do have a 52" HD Widescreen TV, so it is effecting fans like me the most.

You think you have it bad? Try a 100" projection screen with an HD projector.
Yeah, you have it REAL bad. Poor you and your 100" projection screen...

In case you didn't realise, I was being sarcastic.

Man did not make the Transformers. They are from the planet Cybertron. And on their home planet they look different: They took on the form of earth vehicles to blend in when they crashed here.

Can somebody fill me in on some info from the show? I remember in the movie, that Prime 'dies'. But then I remember a few seasons down the road he reappears. He gets salvaged from a space ship (?) and there's a virus or something, but ultimately Prime becomes the leader again. So what was the general plotline around these events?
I never watched the post-movie stuff, but I think the general plotline was 'introduce more toys'. Even the original series was little more than a toy commercial.

ROTS: Baby Scoops?

Yes they are. And it makes perfect sense that a 2-1B droid would be the height of technology at the time of ROTS, but by the time of the OT they are outdated, which is why the rebels have them (same deal with the X-Wings: We should have seen brand new pristine X-Wings in the prequels and by the time of the OT the Imperials have upgraded to TIEs while the rebels are using battle-damaged old X-Wings from 20 years ago.)

Lawsuit on George Lucas?

Okay come and get me bashers I would be all for taking on a company as big as lucasfilm if they were guilty of cutting down rainforests or poisoning baby's milk, but not releasing a movie in anamporphic with nice packaging? It matters to me but does it really matter to the general population or the future of mankind? As Mierl already said, there is a possible class action suit here, and I suppose as someone who has given Lucasfilm far too much money over the years I would probably be game to sign on, but then again, nobody was holding a gun to my head when I bought all those products. I think the case is weak, and we would probably lose. You seem to think anyone but us actually cares about this stuff - a jury would laugh.

EDIT:

You are not trying to insight a discussion about a lawsuit, you're baiting other forum members. I don't have time to sit here and babysit all day, so I'll give you two choices. You can either choose to come back and try again next week, or you can take your own advice and leave altogether. Until then, please note that you have been relieved of your posting abilities.

Blackmage and everyone else: give it a rest. This thread has gone way overboard.
I didn't read Zion's post until after I had responded to Keith. My bad. I will now stop posting here.

Lawsuit on George Lucas?

OK now hold on a minute. First you come in here and post a crazy idea about filing a lawsuit against George Lucas because he's said contradictory things over the years about the OT. Now that in itself isn't bad. You're sort of on the mark with all the other crazy ideas that people here come up with. But you didn't stop there. You kept baiting people to get into this discussion with you. And instead of discussing the issue in a civilized manner, you go off and insult everyone who disagrees with you. Exactly. The original post, while a little silly, did have potential for a good hypothetical debate (i.e. Has Lucas become such a liar and lost so much respect for his fans that a lawsuit could be successful), but then you flipped and showed yourself to be a highly strung angry teenager.

I'm currently 'up north' and I'm not all that impressed. With the exception of Minneapolis this whole part of the world blows in my opinion, and has more than it's fair share of 'intelectually challenged' people. I was recently asked if we have farmers in England, and if we had cows and pigs (of course the answer is no - the only creatures indiginous to the UK are blue giraffes and man-eating dragons). I have never been to Alabama, but my experiences with Nanner Split have done far more for my opinion of his state than Badasskeith has.
