George Lucas on 60 Minutes.

I feel that somebody needs to jump to Hardcore Legend's defense here and, although I agree with all your view points (i.e, the OT should be officially released and not denied) I think that HL is correct in regards to Lucas' obligations etc, and though you might not be happy about it, don't label what he says as bullshit because it's not. And as for the legality of our unofficial OT DVDs, if we own the originals on video of Laserdisc, and we bought them legally and Lucas got royalties for them, why shouldn't we own backups? It's the same with emulated video games - if you own the original cratridge or disc, you are allowed to downloaded a 'backup'. I have legally paid for the OT Star Wars trilogy 3 times on VHS and I have also legally paid for the '97 SEs and the 2004 DVDs, so anyone who tells me my OT DVDs are illegal can kiss my ass.

Thought on de-SE'ing the DVD

Thanks for the heads up.

I think you guys are being too hard on Editous. I mean, I see your point, and I definitely think that Mverta'a restoration will be the ultimate OT experience, but what Editous is trying to make is a non-crap special edition. He's doing what Lucas and co should have done for the DVD (and in '97) but didn't. He's making a watchable special edition, unlike the unwatchable official versions. Both Editous and Mverta's projects have their merits, and as Mverta pointed out, they are polar opposites.

However, I do agree that the 3po blink should be left unchanged becasue I always saw that as a sign of his weariness and tiredness (if a droid gets tired) and maybe he is malfunctioning slightly due to his ordeal, and I also am not too keen on the green R2 unit. If you must have a green R2, maybe try dulling down the green a bit - it's way too bright.

Editous, my PM doesn't work for some reason so would you mind e-mailing me so I can send you a DVD and get a copy of this great project? the address is mattfitch at hotmail.com. Thanks.

In fact, does anybody have any idea why I can't PM or post pictures? I can't access the help either and I've e-mailed the site but no reply. It's really limiting my enjoyment of OT.com so any help would be great.

SW TV Confirmed

Back on topic, I’d love a band of brothers style 10 part series post ROTJ following the adventures of a middle aged Luke training new jedi, staring Mark Hamill would be nice, but I doubt we'll get that, and I don’t think Harrison Ford would be interested, so my second choice would be a series called "Star wars tales" with guest directors who've wanted to do something in the universe. Every episode is something new, a self contained story set between Episode 3 and 4, and featuring new characters. For example:

1. A story about a smuggler from corellia
2. A story about a jedi that is in hiding post ep 3
3. A story about a young man who is forcefully conscripted into the imperial military

etc, etc.

Charcters like Han Solo might be mentioned in passing, like if the smuggler was talking about a hot new smuggler on the scene or something, and Vader could appear because you could just stick any tall dude in the suit, but he would be a minor character, with only very brief appearences.

Any more ideas?

She lives in the states and we live in England, so swapping it would mean sending it to either her or an American friend to swap it for me, so I think I'm stuck with it. Maybe one day I'll pick up a widescreen copy for cheap and discreetly dispose of the full screen version when the wife isn't looking.

Help!! Looking for Hi-Res OT posters
Time

Please Help!!!

I am trying to get my hands on high resolution files of the Drew Struzan Revenge of the jedi poster (the red and black one with the big vader head and a silouette of Luke and Vader duelling) and the 1977 ‘style C’ Star Wars poster. I would post some images so you know which ones I mean but for some reason the picture attachment feature doesn’t work for me.
