The Things We Hate And Love Thread .
Time
I was in the American midwest for a while, North Dakota to be exact, and I was round somebody's house and they offered me a slice of pizza, saying 'You guys like pizza over there in France, right?'. To which I replied 'Well, I think you are thinking of Italy, but either way, I'm from England'. The guy just couldn't understand that Europe is made up of loads of vastly different countries and isn't just one big mass of land called 'Europe'. The final straw was when he replied 'well, Englad, France, whatever, it's all the same'. I wanted to hit his ignorant ass. That's like saying 'Canada, USA, whatever'. I was also told I spoke good English for a foreigner.
Of course, I know none of you guys are that ignorant, but the point is England may be close, but 25 miles of water is enough to seperate us from Europe not only by distance but also by attitude, opinion and culture.
So, in order to keep on topic: Things I hate: Ignorance, People who lump England and France together, and North Dakota.

Special Effects are not important...the characters are.

Not to the current generation of movie goers. The 20-somethings these days haven't come up in a culture where they use their imagination. They've had bright, quickly-moving images hold their attention for them. No time to do any deep thinking, the movie will tell them what to think. The movie will tie up all the loose ends for them. Don't bother using your brain to think or contribute to the story with your imagination.

Mate, that's BS. I think you'll find that us 2o somethings who grew up in the 80s prefer the old stuff. It's the ones born in the late 80s early 90s who your statement applies to, and it's not their fault because that's what they grew up with.

Anakin & Obi-Wan: The Friendship We Never Really Saw
Time
I have just finished reading the Episode One novel. It explains it all a lot better. Obi-Wan was against Anakin being trained at first but in the final battle with Maul Obi-Wan finally gets in touch with the living force to defeat Maul and becomes more insightful. When Anakin destroys the droid command ship (which in the book is much more the will of the force than a kid saying 'oops') Obi-Wan, wiser and more understanding following his master's death, believs that Anakin is the chosen one and sees that Qui-Gon was right all along. So, it wasn't put across too well in the films but having read the book I appreciate their relationship a lot more, although you shouldn't have to read a bookmto enjoy a film...

Which I have a ticket for!

You do, really? I would cut my left arm off just to see that show, even though it's only for 30 minutes... Unless Roger gives the back to the band, plays along throughout the show, and gets out of the stage without even smiling to the band, that would suck.

I'll see the "Australian Pink Floyd" tomorrow. Not the same, but still... As close as I will ever get to a real Pink Floyd concert...

Yeah, it's gonna be so cool. John and George are dead, but my next favourite Beatle Paul will be there, plus the cure, U2, and a whole load of others. Gonna rock.

CGI Yoda for TPM

And the fight scenes? Hmn... stop motion. There.

You could just cut the AOTC Yoda/Dooku fight. It was only there to show Yoda brawling, and he does that in Sith anyway.

Because it was one of the rare occasions when I was using the internet from home. BTW I didn't take it like a personal insult. Geez shim, the way you kiss this girl's ass I sure hope you're getting some. Maybe you should just drop all this best friend Dawson's Creek crap and ask her out.

Simple - there should be no qui-gon, his character sahould have been called OBI-WAN. Obi-Wan could have had a young padawan who gets killed by Darth Maul and obi-wan then takes on Anakin. Qui-gon was very warm and caring towards Anakin, as Obi-Wan should have. The 'friendship' should have begun in the first movie.

first, I'm posting here from work and while I would rather be doing 'thing's with my wife, I need to earn a living and luckily my boss is cool enough to not care if I'm on OT.com all day.
Second, that is not what being married is all about and if it was that would be one hell of a shallow relationship. I gaurantee you I've done more partying, drinking, drugs sex and anything else than you have and eventually you grow out of it, and if you don't that's very sad.
