What do you love about Star Wars?
Time
That is a good point. I never thought about that before.

What I USE to like about Star Wars is that the OT gave this impression of a vast universe, an explored galaxy, and it seemed so epic and sweeping. The PT has really defused that atmosphere for me and it just all seems lackluster and trite now. I find it very difficult to watch any Star Wars now without thinking about all the crap that's hanging off of it.

Do you like the PT ?
Time
I would never say the PT is better than the OT, but to be honest, I think the PT has glimmers of extreme creativity and some great cinematography, but hampered by bad actors, a rusty and CGI-awed director, and rather bad unedited script. If Lucas had just had someone who could pull the reigns on him, and a concrete story/continuity editor, he could have had the greatest two sets of trilogy in sci-fantasy cinema!!! But something happened. Don't know for sure what, but it was not good. Lucas was too focused on the wrong elements of SW rather than what counted in the first place.

What do I like about the PT? Certainly the SFX were a notch up, but they're starting to look dated within only a few years! I think TPM, on a technical level is better than the other two, but still a mish-mash of lost opportunities.

American Idol

That's the way I watch it. I watch the trainwrecks which are FREAKING hilarious---you get to see the most DELUSIONAL people in the world: "I'm a GOOD! I will prove Randy, Simon and that b*tch Paula--I will be the greatest EVER!" I mean, even their parents are delusional and should've told them ages ago, "Unh...honey, you like...suck. Maybe you should get into cheese-making or something."

And it does all seem so artificial. I'd always thought singers came out of it on their own, that the cream would eventually rise to the top and reveal themselves. But, I read stories of famous people all the time where they are or were told by big execs to change their look, etc. to make them appeal to an audience, so those who made it without AI are still as artifically molded as they are on that show.

Serenity
Time
I'm of the same opinion. Serenity was good, but not great. I think it's all in the production values, which were modest, but still reminded me of the same quality as Star Trek: Insurrection. Serenity just had a better story to tell and more action (and better characters). Joss shouldn't have directed. Really needed someone who was more a "cinema" caliber.

Weshall, you're a great poster, and you're young, so you're full of vim, piss and fire---which is GOOD, btw, but what's the old saying, "You'll catch more flies with honey than vinegar." I use to be like you. The moment someone said something contradictory, I was ready to haul back and knock 'em on their asses. Now that I'm older its more fun to sit back and watch them crap on themselves... But it's good that you stand up for yourself, you're thinking these things through and present good points. Keep at it, man.

Gomer, I'm glad you realize you don't have the answers. I hope you take a look at some of the logic here and not base everything on "feelings." Feelings are good, but some good ol' fashion common sense and logic is good, too.

Naked Parties
Time
That's weird enough. It's like Roman times. And what about these parties where these guys bang their girlfriends in front of a bunch of guys. That's really weird. The girl must be seriously drunk not to notice or don't care, and then the dudes all have their camera phones out recording... I dunno, are the young really f***ed up today?

The invasion of Iraq was a criminal act on the part of the governments of the US and the UK and I don't think the people behind those actions should be allowed to get away with it.

Iraq's invasion of Quait was a criminal act.
Iraq's leader's hate for the US and its allies was a criminal act.
Saddam's misleading inspectors was a criminal act.
Saddam killing hundreds of thousands of his OWN people was a criminal act.
Saddam conspiring against the US was a criminal act.
Saddam's support, aiding, and abetting of KNOWN terrorists was a criminal act.
Saddam's support an ideal that is destructive and terrorists is criminal!

If I recall correctly, US and UK were going off of reports that may have been flawed, but it was not a misleading. We and the UK were acting off information it was going on. Blair mislead no one. He was going off information provided.

You go on, you continue not to vote... or go ahead and vote for the wrong people, because your country is doomed anyway. The more you continue to appease that Muslim population, the more your own freedoms will slip, and then soon you'll be afraid to express any opinion at all when the Muslims start to slay people for differing opinion. I'm glad I don't live there.

As for labels. If you don't label something, how the hell are you suppose to know what you're up against? I know you liberals hate the label, but it's what you are. Deal with it. I'm a conservative! I'm a conservative Republican! Let me go full bore: I'm a CHRISTIAN CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN! AND I'M FUCKING PROUD OF IT!! Why are you so afraid of labels. You give them all the time. "Conservative" is suppose to be an insult in the mass media. African Americans are proud to be African Americans, when actually, they're JUST Americans like they should be. Give it a rest. I can't go around constantly calling terrorist: "Extra-national individuals who do not hold our values in any regard and would prefer to stick a pipebomb up our asses." I'd like to, but that's awfully long, and I prefer 'terrorist.'

I feel sorry for Blair. The guy is (as I understand it) pretty much like a moderate/liberal here in this country, but he gets it. He gets the problem the Islamofascists present. Just like our Lieberman (also a liberal) gets it, too. Why is this so hard for people to grasp? There is nothing to be gained by being on the side of the terrorists. They give a frick about the liberals defending them in the US. Liberals are tools for the islamofascists. PC sentiments are tools for the terrorists. Its lovely how liberals play right into the terrorists' hands. They love this.

Hey guys, Remember when Star wars had writing like this?
Time
But Randy, why do you feel the need to do that? So what if they're saying "rhetoric"---rhetoric doesn't mean it's untrue.

What is it specifically that bugs you about what they say? I don't know how this all matters to you.

Also, I find it hard to believe you prefer the OT over the PT. If you had any respect for the OT, you would notice and criticize the faults of the PT in comparison to the originals (and I'm talking story-wise. SFX, yes are incredibly advanced in the PT), of which you haven't pointed out yet. Why do you prefer the OT over the PT?
