What is wrong with... Attack of the Clones? - a general discussion thread

And who puts Order 66 into the clones? The Kaminoans would certainly question why a Jedi would want such a thing programmed into them.

In the canon, all clones have an inhibitor chip installed in them which forced them to comply with Order 66, but in the old Legends continuity, they were just programmed to demonstrate unfailing loyalty to the Supreme Chancellor.

I just saw Howard the Duck (1986) last night for the first time. I wonder why Lucas took a break to work on all these bizarre projects like that movie & Willow. Indiana Jones was a good movie, but the rest of his work was pretty sparse and weird. Did his divorce with Marcia really hold him back that long from working on the prequels? I wish he wouldn’t have waited so long to make the prequels. I think they would have turned out better if he didn’t take a break & continued to make & release it in the tradition of every 3 years. If TPM was made right after Jedi & came out in 1986 or 1987 I think it would have been better. He would’ve gotten the PT done by the early '90s and missed the cheesy digital era of filmmaking.

Have you seen Strange Magic (2015)? It shows what Lucas is doing now that he’s retired from Star Wars.

What is your personal canon?

The concept of personal canon is such a weird and intangible thing to me. Do you guys really see all these things fit together when you consume these movies/TV shows/comics/etc.? Or is it just simply you compiling what bits of Star Wars content you like and think are worthy of existing (for lack of a better term)? Or is it picking the things you think make sense together and should be things that happened in this universe?

Going off the last one is a tricky one. So many of these things contradict each other or are so different in tone/characterization or what have you that it’s hard to put them all in the context of one another. For example, some of my absolute favorite Star Wars content is the original Marvel run of comics (and the Goodwin/Williamson strip), but I find a lot of that very hard to reconcile with the world established in the films. Similarly, as much as I loved the PT as a kid, I’ve spent about the last decade coming to terms with the fact that it just does not fit at all with the OT (fan edits are an effort to fix this, but can they ever really?).

Anyway, point is, hard for me to genuinely come up with a “personal canon” in the typical sense of the world (what I view as the ‘history of the Star Wars universe’). I could list the Star Wars stuff that I like but I don’t know, feel like that’s kind of boring?

May do it later anyway.

I will say I totally understand people with multiple canons. It’s definitely a different experience watching the original film as just a standalone feature in comparison to watching it in the larger context of the OT (on that note, I’ve tried numerous times to watch it in the context of the PT but it just doesn’t work).

Yeah this is kinda what I was trying to convey in my post. I get the idea of a personal canon, because there are a lot of things that are annoyingly officially canon in Star Wars, but it seems weird to be reading a book or something and get to a part where you’re like “Okay that didn’t happen in my canon”

Except Boba Fett. I just assume they killed the kid off between Clones and Empire and a real Mandalorian took over. =P

There is actually a theory about that.

Canon 3: The original trilogy in its unaltered state, plus any new Disney movies that might come out. I justify not including the Special Editions/prequels by assuming that the people working on the new movies have a love for the originals similar my own love, so their head canon probably involves the unaltered originals and not the Special Editions.

They had Ewen McGregor reprise his role as Obi-Wan in TFA and are having the actress who played Mon Mothma in RoTS reprise her role in Rouge One.

I remember when I used to have this much free time. Barely.

I just copied and pasted it from this site.

Query: anyone done a The Empire Strikes Back Super 8 HD Recreation? (with release info)
Time

I discovered this version of The Empire Strikes Back cut down to 15 minutes to fit on to one reel. It’s really weird, it has no Hoth, no carbonite, no explanation of Yoda, and no “I am your father.” Would somebody be willing to do an HD recreation of this?

Mod Edit: see Joel’s posts in the thread below for his project and information. 👍

The Blackened Mantle (3-in-1 Prequel Trilogy Fan Edit) is finally back on YouTube!
Time

I’ve finally managed to get the popular prequel fanedit, The Blackened Mantle, back on YouTube! Unfortunately, I had to remove some of John Williams’ score using YouTube’s “Remove Song” feature because Sony ID’d it and was blocking it in every country except Japan.

Information for ‘The Blackened Mantle’: https://letterboxd.com/film/star-wars-the-blackened-mantle

Some information by Darth Lunar (the editor of ‘The Blackened Mantle’): https://grimrukh.com/other-projects (ask him for a link)

Watch it on YouTube here - .
