So, about those closed forums...

i thought about getting them on DVD, but decided against it. It was a good cartoon series, but it was kinda corny also.

I remember watching them all at once every friday night on cartoon Network. Only thing is, they had to do a comercial every one to two episodes and you have to sit through the crappy opening title.

I would've thought GL would've edited that out in the SE's since Leia and Luke are siblings. Don't you think the thought went through Luke's mind after he realized Leia was his sister: "HOLY SHIT!  I made out with my sister!"

I enjoyed it, all except for the fact that each episode was 30 secs long!

The guy's probably thinking: "Why the hell is she screwing this show up? That's not in the script!" :p

I've always believed that you weren't changing his vision. You haven't changed the story at all. You're just improving the quality of the films and trying to connect them better with the PT.

Plus, the whole Luke Leia, Bro, Sis deal. That was planned when GL first wrote Star Wars. Does anybody there watch documentries?

i think the red lightsaber is just a symbol of the Sith. You see a red saber you automatically think: "It's a Sith". kinda like that debate on whether or not all the Empire's lasers should be green and the Rebel's be red.

I was always use to Han shooting first. I loved one of the Tales Comics i read. C3PO was representing Greedo's mother who was suing Han for shooting Greedo in cold blood.

Basicallly, it was trying to prove if Han shot first or if Greedo did.

But when i saw the scene edited, i didn't really care for it. It was good, but not neccesary and it did look weird having Han's head move back and then forth in a fraction of a second.

Only thing with the SE's i disagree with...That and the Emperor's conversation with Vader in ESB when he says be believes Luke is the son of Anakin Skywalker and Vader already knew it in the beginning.

Of course, that was the same line from the novelization which in a way, made me accept the scene.

What? No. They all wear Boba Fett' armor, and they are a bunch of loners. If that's not what Boba Fett is, then I don't know what he is.

To put it simple, Boba Fett's uniqueness is gone.

I haven't read any of Traviss' later stuff for obvious reasons, though I'll be getting around to it in not too long here...  but from what I've read in my obsessive browsing of Wookieepedia, the characters all seem to be differentiated at least a little. I can't really make that call, though. I have a hard time believing she's capable of making a character as unique as Boba has been made over the years.

And of course they all wear the same style armour. What are they gonna wear stormtrooper armour?

 

Also: Boba Fett. B O (1)B A. I don't see how a person can like Mandalorians and Traviss' books and not like Boba Fett... He's the gateway to all of that.

 

As far as continuity goes, it's always been really fluid. In fact, I'm pretty shocked that it's been able to stay as solid as it has been over the years, considering all the hundreds of sources that have the possibility of conflicting. They've managed to keep those conflicts pretty few and far between.

Star Wars is also a risky place to play. Since George is still working with the universe, it has the potential to really turn on a dime, and we've seen that a couple times in the Clone Wars... for the authors and other folks of the lesser canons, it's like building sandcastles in someone else's sandbox. If the owner needs room to make his sandcastle, all you can really do is either inform him of its presence and hope he likes and incorporates it, but ultimately, you're going to have to stand aside and let him do his thing. A lot of the time, George seems willing to accept pre-established things and incorporate them (Asajj's backstory for one, though that was his daughter, not to mention Asajj herself, or Aayla Secura, or Quinlan Vos, or the Death Watch, The Clone Wars has really solidified a lot of lesser canon), but we're more likely to remember the times that he goes against established canon.

I have to give major credit to Dave Filoni who is an actual Star Wars nerd who has probably read, and obviously knows, a lot of the pre-established continuity, and works it into the show as much as he can, and also seems to remind George of pre-existing things that will conflict with what George wants. A lot of times, he wins those conflicts. But if George wants something a certain way, there's not much that can be done. It is his property, after all, and I hate to sound like the rape apologist in the rape support group, but as long as he holds the reins to the Star Wars IP and wants to keep expanding it himself, then we all are really subject to his whims. Doesn't mean we have to like it, or we have to stand for it, OT.com is a testament to that, for sure.

Lets have another metaphor: in 1977, we got Star Wars in a pre-release beta version. They released two major patches for it, and a huge modding community popped up. The mods were all sanctioned by George, but he was still in the process of creating his game, and so the modmakers have to accept the fact that, sure, maybe George will like their mod and add it as a feature in the final product, but other times, he'll want to take it in a different direction that conflicts with a mod and, unfortunately, that's tough luck for the modder. Most of the time it's not terrible, but sometimes he releases three crappy new patches and then goes back and "updates" the original game and breaks a bunch of features everyone loved (see, I'm still on your side). <_<

But, in the end, we just have to shrug it off and deal with it. Places like OT.com here are like the sites that popped up to emulate Star Wars: Galaxies pre-cu. Some fans want the old game back, but we also have to accept that it's changing. And it has changed in the past, and will continue to change, and we can accept what we like and denounce what we don't.

 

So... yeah. That's my big tangent. I don't know if it's actually directed towards anyone or if it's even on topic any more, but once I get going it's hard to stop.

 I don't worry about continuity with those novels as they are seperate from the main stroy.

And i never said i didn't like Boba Fett. i was pointing out that he had really crappy screen time in ROTJ and just destroyed his character by accidently getting caught in the back with a pole and then shooting off and falling into the sarlaac pit.

And, actually, the Clones are unique individuals. Watch the Clone Wars series, more specifically the clone based ones like Rookies.

And all Mandos wear the same, or similiar anyways, type of armor.

Thing is, you can find all that special stuff on youtube or other related sites

Having watched the parts of the prequels with Yoda in it for a study I should really do something about, I have to say that the CGI Yoda is pretty awful at times.

 i think the worse part of CGI Yoda was his duel with Count Dooku. That just looked rediculous to me. By ROTS though, it wasn't as bad.

And btw, Bobba Fett crying is not a big deal to me when he went out like a punk in ROTJ :p
