Just wonderin', how would that be supposed to go down? Palpatine like needed an army the Jedi trusted while fighting in a giant galactic war so they could assassinated in the middle of the fight all at once, right? How was the Naboo thing going to lead to that?
Overwhelming the Jedi. They couldn't do anything about it if it was made the legal. the invasion that is. And if the Senate voted to take it back through war, the Jedi would have been called upon to help when they are not suppose to be generals in the first place.
Naboo would've been the first among other planets that prlly had been on Palps list.

I really do think that episodes 7 8 and 9 should be made.
Partly because of all the iterations of the myth of a planned episodic saga a trilogy of trilogies was the most publicly touted and giving us a final trilogy (if it was a well made trilogy naturally) would in a way fulfill a covenant with people who followed the saga from the beginning (we were promised nine...mostly, then were told we only get three, then got three more which weren't very well made, we sort of deserve three good new ones as compensation).
Then there comes the potential left over in the story which is rather fertile ground for a film trilogy (if you largely ignore the EU).
The PT is about how a badly maintained democracy and an un-cherished peace can lead to division and open the door to war, chaos and tyranny.
The OT is about resistance to tyranny and fighting to restore an idealistic vision of a kinder society.
A ST could be about the reality of trying to match that idealism with the consequences of the war and what caused it, basically building the peace. Will the heroes become the new villains or will they manage to fulfill the dreams they fought for?
If the PT was made properly we would have cared about Anakin and his fall would have been emblematic of the fall of the Republic.
Luke's redemption of his father in the OT (if ROTJ was done a bit better) would have saved the character we cared about in the PT and cleared the way for the heroes of the OT to be (like Anakin before) the focus of the next stage of the grander saga, the struggle to rebuild or start afresh (or fail and become new tyrants).
New characters could present challenges to and perspectives on what they attempt to do once they have won their war.
If the PT should have be a decent into darkness and the OT the fight to keep a spark of light alive a ST could complete the cycle (but it would have to be well written and well made).
Words from the Prophet
I sometimes wonder what was going through his mind when he made the PT. I mean, the whole Padme Anaking love thing seemed really Romeo and Juliet with the corny acting.
He should just hand over the directors chair to someone else to do any more Star Wars movies, if that does happen, which i don't think it will in the near future.

My take on it, is that Anakin wasn't one his mind till after the end of TPM.
He was trying to find ways to overwhelm the Jedi, Invasion of Naboo making it legal. Which this is what i think how he originally intended to be the beginning of the end for the Jedi.
Once Anakin showed up and saw his potential, whether he's heard of the "Prophecy" or not, he knew he'd be a powerful tool for him. I don't think he had a specific plan to turn him. I do think it was his goal.
I don't see anything to back up your Naboo theory. He wanted to invade or control the planet. Next? Nothing in the movies tells anything about it. Apparently, it SOMEHOW contirbutes to the Separatist movement (TF got pissed off and so on), and it gets Palpatine into chancellor position (could've waited a few years for reelection if he could manipulate votes, eh?). What you said is pretty much pulled out of the thin air rip.
well, of course i'm pulling this out of thin air. this is just my take on it. He wanted to overwhelm the Jedi, so taking over Naboo and the Jedi not being able to do anything about it just seemed like an excellent ploy to me.
Everything i'm saying is just my opinion on what lead up to Palpatine turning Anakin. Not saying that, that's how it is.
i wouldn't talk proffessor
Playing that game could drive somebody to go insane, litterally.
I am a PT fan, however the OT is better IMO. And i'm not saying that at all. I'm trying to explain my take on the whole situation. You're the one taking it personally
You too huh?
He is nothing close to greedy. Yes, however i do think he has a big ego seeing as how he can make anything he wants without Fox freaking out about it like they would during Episode IV
i think it would be cool to revamp the battle of Endor and make it somewhat like the ROTS space battle. Prlly not as intense, but something that makes you jump out of your seat.
i always imagined, as in the novel it describes this, seeing a blockade runner run into the bridge of a star destroyer.

Just some poles to smooth out the PT OT drama

This is the extent of my interest in Star Wars novels because they all take place in the 1977 universe;
Splinter Of The Mind's Eye is my Spring\Summer read, the Han Solo Adventures by Brian Daley are my Autumn\Winter reads. While the published NPR Star Wars (also by Brian Daley) isn't EU, a few chapters venture away from the film substantially in story & characters. In that regard, it's definitely extended.
I've perused the EU section at Border's, but I've never come across anything that interested me. I'll probably get the Lando books by Niel Smith because they're also set in the 1977 universe.
i've read all of those both the graphic novel and the novel. They are all good books. I found that there is more in the novels rather then the graphic novels.
More specificly Splinter of the Minds eye
Who u talking to? Me or him?
And yes, all good points.
And, i don't think we can actually criticize the writing of Sidious do to the fact that he is set up to be a mysterious figure in star wars. We don't know where he came from, what he plans, how he does what he does and how he became a Sith in the first place.
i've always been a fan of the X-Wing series. Its a whole new cast of characters, save Wedge. Which, we learn more of Wedge and is origins.
Anakin Craved power. So much that he believed he could keep people from dying. That's why he trusted Palpatine. Anakin truly believed that Palps would give him the power he desperatly desired to own.
So, in the end, he could care less if palpantine was trying to kill Padme for the last ten or so years. A perfect example of thick headeness.
Not a big deal to me. Just do something that involves a whole new cast of characters.
I'm reading that too.
Death Troopers was Star Wars version of Dawn of the Dead. Still good though.

Any ST Lucas would make would suck just as much as - if not more than - the PT, especially since characters from the OT would undoubtedly feature in it and suffer character derailment in the process.
Too late for that. Unless u exclude Harrison Ford.
And as much as i would like to see a VII VIII IX, i don't see how it can be done. if any SW movies should be made, it should be a novel from the Old Republic or something before or during the Clone Wars.

palpatine is an idiot in the PT. in episode 3 when yoda pushed him back in the chair and he set their with his legs in the air I almost felt like getting up and walking out. then when anakin first turns and palpatine says GOOOOOOOOOOD! I felt sick it sounded so stupid. Some of this stuff is so bad I honestly think lucas did it on purpose to either piss the fans off or because he deep down doesnt care if these films are good or not cause there is no way he could have watched some of those scenes and think they were good. it is impossible. the palpatine in episode 6 was evil. no cackling no retarded movments Just what I thought at the time was an evil old wizard.
Didnt george ever ask himself why palpatine kept shooting lighting at mace windu while it was byrning his face up? why not just stop shoting it. it sure didnt fry luke. it is impossible for these questions t not pop in lucas mind or the producers or the editors. How could this stuff not have been brought up during production.
there are many theroies as to why but If I had to bet on one my only personal opinion is Lucas hates star wars deep down. blaming it for the lose of his wife and for the lose of his so called career s it boxed him into a corner or so he thought. In his interviews NOT one person ask lucas any tough questions about his motives. everyone ask the same crap over and over and over. I would give a yrs worth of pay for a ten minute sit down with lucas. The last indy film tells me he has lost his mind. Tales of the golden monkey was better than the crysal skulls
I agree on how stupid it looked when Palps was force pushed over his desk and did that weird "No" and "Good". In a way it reminded me of Smeagol from Lord of the Rings.
The reason he was letting it fry his face up was so he could influence Anakin. By showing how scarred up he was, it only influenced Anakin more to want to save him.
I'd argue the last point, but it would just drag on and on. So, yeah...
"Tales from Bounty Hunters" and "Tales From the New Republic" were my favorites.
In the PT, i enjoyed the Clone Wars novels. I've found that any novel that depicts one of the clones as a main character, i really get into it. Part of the reason i enjoy the Republic Commando and Imperial Commando novels.
Sad that the clones die in twenty the thirty years.
First off, don't put down the Fett man. He's one of the best characters in the OT.
Vader was whiny in ROTS. That just killed it for me when he did the line. "NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
No sith in the movies can amount up to Darth Maul. I don't see how you can deny that he has potential.
Liam Nesson did make Qui-Gon cool. I still think it would've been cool to see more of him in the movies.
i disagree. Maul was badass! He wasn't whiny like Vader. This guy was pure evil and power driven.
Qui-Gon was good, because he was unique from the other Jedi. He was his own character and really made me want to see more of him in the movies.
Interesting game. Never heard of any game called the game. Too bad the game is impossible to win...Game....Game...Game....
