Last time I checked, Lucasfilm hasn’t whipped anyone for not working hard enough, restricted their freedom of travel, or forced unwanted religions on their fans.

Disney seems to have completely forgotten the idea and vision behind EPCOT’s Future World, and it’s a hollow shell of it’s former self. They genuinely have no clue how to properly handle anything with an ounce of good in it.
If you ask me, the degradation of EPCOT has less to do with Disney’s managing style and more to do with the forward-thinking, technocratic attitudes of the 50’s and 60’s having been replaced with left-wing attitudes like hyper environmentalism, social programs for the dumb and lazy, and political correctness at any cost.

Spoke to the projectionist at #SWCO and confirmed that these are the same 2K DCPs used for the OT Blu-rays. No 4K (except for Rogue One).

It’s also been pointed out to me that some of the audio changes were done because LFL lost the originals or the original audio had been damaged. Luke’s changed dialogue to R2 in Empire Strikes Back being one of the examples.
That makes sense. I found out recently that was the on-set line. You would think it wouldn’t be all that hard to find a decent quality sample, especially considering that they have access to the lossless audio used for the Laserdiscs.
In my opinion, we now have two more chances for an announcement this year: May 4 and May 25. If we don’t hear anything by then, I don’t think we’ll see them in an official capacity any time soon. I think something we have to remember is that even though we have access to these great fan preservations, the general public does not. For a lot of people, the OUT not being released officially is a huge barrier.
The cropping is tighter too. This was probably just done for this video. I can’t imagine they would actually alter the cropping for the digital release.
The 97 definitely has more in common with the 04/11 in terms of content, but it exists as an interesting artifact that bridges the gap between the OOT era and the prequel era. It also helped make people car about Star Wars again (at least according to this Forbes article: https://www.forbes.com/sites/scottmendelson/2017/02/01/20-years-ago-star-wars-special-edition-made-star-wars-special-again/#2a613dfc2a61).
Regarding a poster: everything that’s not by Drew Struzan will be a disappointment. I still don’t understand how they were able to drop the ball on the TFA poster. Sad.
It was the worst poster in the history of posters, maybe ever.

The lightsaber flashes during the Vader/Kenobi duel was the giveaway, IIRC.
I think that assumption was made prior to the SSE being released. I honestly think the lightsabers look like how they appear there.

What about the shot of the x-wings rolling off and diving towards the death star and the “pov” shot going into the trench? Were those re-comp’d for the SE and, if so, are there any telltale signs of which version we’re looking at in RMW’s reel?
I don’t think so. There weren’t as many recomps in Star Wars and Empire. Most shots were just replaced outright. And if they did recomp it, it’s seamless.

These screenshots seem to have come from a higher bitrate video than the Vimeo upload. They look much better when not subject to web compression.
I don’t think that showed their grain reduction technique as well. I think it was about their 4k mastering process.

The regraded screenshot is a little harsh on my eyes, but maybe I’m just too used to the grayish BD. I’m definitely interested in seeing more frames (or maybe even a whole clip) regraded to match the 70mm. You can find people all over the Internet who have posted images of the frames they acquired, so it shouldn’t be too hard for get a look at other 70mm frames for reference.
I just saw a 70mm showing last night. The colors in the regrade look correct to me. It had very strong blue-orange contrast, and not the green overtones of that BD frame posted. I couldn’t tell you about sharpness.
Was it film or digital? The digital IMAX only opens up to 1.9:1.
It not a gimmick. 3D has been around in one form or another since the 50’s.
But it never really stuck. I don’t think I’ve talked to anyone that actually enjoys watching movies like that.
