GL once was great. He came up with a great idea and a great universe. But he is no longer great. The more he touches Star Wars the more he ruins it. So I have to agree with Luke. He should never be allowed to touch it again. Don't mean to insult him, but it is just a fact that he has cracked.

I think when you make a remake you face a dilemma. If you make changes in the story people will critize them and say that you made changes just to make changes, and also there will be lovers of the orginal that will say how dare you change this or that and so on. However if you make everything exactly the same as the original, then what was the point of making the the remake? All you did was make the same film again. Not meantion how people can't but help compare the performance of a certain actor in a certain role in the original to another actor playing the same role in the remake.

I think the worst remake I ever saw was the tv version of High Noon. For some reason either couldn't or wouldn't use the music from the movie and this is one of those stories that really needs its music. In this case it helps to build the suspense. Without the music it just isn't right.

Some remakes do succeed, the remake of BenHur won 11 oscars for example. The classis Maltese Falcon staring Humphrey Bogart is really the third version of that film. And from what I know, the first two versions pale in comparison.

actually I have no problen devises of this sort. As long as you are not forced to buy them that is. It might be Censorship but only for those who are willing participants. As long as parents can choose whether or not to censor, I thinks its okay. People who want to watch the full version can still do so and people who want to watch the censored version can as well. All you are doing is giving parents the choice, isn't that what freedom is about, choice?

please do. I remember when I first started watching 1776 all I had was a version that was recorded off the air and I recall it was dark. Then I recorded off the air again and got a slightly better recorded. few years after that I dubbed thing from a rented video tape. Some time after that I bought it on VHS. And then finally what I had been waiting for my entire life the Widescreen Directors Cut on DVD.

If any of you do watch it, I would be interested in hearing your opinions on the movie.

Oh, yes I believe it is readily available for rent. If can rent the Widescreen Version. This film really needs it. And if you don't like U.S.A. and/or you don't like musicals this film may not be for you.

yes, the face you see is William Daniels playing John Adams from the movie musical 1776. Daniels orginated the role on broadway and thankfully he got to play the part in the movie. Daniels gives an excellent performance that at least IMHO no else would be able to match. For those who don't know 1776 centers around the 2nd Continental Congress and the debate for independence from England. John Adams is the lead character. Although it is not always accurate I do believe it caught the spirit of the actual events. He is one of my favorite characters and it is one of my favorite movies. I watch it just once year, on July the 4th. I highly recommend it.

Sorry Bossk, I am what I am. And I like my Bond lighter. This might be an interesting I idea however. I think they should make it clear that it is not part of the classic bond series. As long as they do that I'm ok with it.
