huh what does 1776 mean.

It is the name of a movie. It is where I got my Avatar from and it is a musical about the US declaring its independence from England. The quote that I stated comes from a song in the movie called "Cool, Cool, Considerate Men".

It's from a musical number in 1776. The man in Warbler's avatar (John Adams in the film) would later play "Mr. Feeny" in Boy Meets World. I've been right all along, I suppose Warbler didn't catch the Mr. Feeny reference. Maybe I'm much too young.

sorry, I misunderstood. I knew he played Mr. Feeny in Boy Meets World, but the way you stated it made me think you were refering to some sort of movie called "Mr. Feeny".
my bad.

Its the name of a film. Shouldn't this conversation be in the 'Off Topic' section under "Name that movie quote" or something?

A new poster had started an interesting conversation here and we've *radically* digressed.

sorry

I'll bet you'll never guess where that quote comes from.

I thought that guy in your avatar looked like Mr. Feeney. I've seen that movie a zillion times, but for some reason I dont recall that line.

You're the one who thinks the holograms of your clones I'm projecting are actually a threat to me. In secret, they are just there to make you think you still have the army.

Well... at least it USED to be a secret.

*taps the shoulder of a clone* if it were a hologram, my hand would have passed right through him. It didn't therefor, the clones aren't holograms.

exactly what about Empire made the story require less imagination?

To me, that's where the story starts to get smaller and more packaged. Han suddenly being a good guy in the military seems wrong. It's not true to the character from the first film. I think the snow battle goes on way too long. I also don't really care for the whole jungle training parts. That said, I think the part where Luke throws his food away after Yoda takes a bite is priceless - he may think the little creature is harmless, but he's not eating after him. In fact, that's the only Yoda part I care for. The characters seem less interesting somehow and the story just feels polished and clean - not distant and adventurous. Some of it could just be the familiarity with the characters. The absolute cheesiest part is R2's smoke screen at the end - please. What if that hadn't worked? - what next - an oil slick for the stormtroopers to fall on?

However, there are some areas of the film that I really like - The asteroid field has a great feel to it. Luke letting go and falling away from Vader as a pure statement of "I won't be beaten by you" is done very well. He looks at Vader, a resolve comes over him, and he lets go.
He makes a decision and is at peace with it. It's without a doubt the best part of the ESB story. That part leads to my favorite scene. When he's hanging under the cloud city - it's a great visual. It feels giant and helpless. Expansive in a way the rest of the movie lacks.

*shakes head in disblief *

I don't suppose that fact that this movie had one greatest plot twist in movie history did anything for? And Han wasn't exactly a good guy throghout the movie, remember he was planning on leaving the rebellion. I think it was perfectly true to his character. Whats with R2 using a smoke screen? I call inventive not cheesy. And I sorry but Yoda in empire is one the greastest performances by a puppet in movie history. Empire is not as good as Star Wars, but it is still a great movie.

All want is the best possible version of the OOT. I had just always assumed that if Lucas ever released the OOT on DVD, it would be digitally remasted and without the 2004 tech problems. What's wrong with wanting that?

I think you meant "are being seduced by the darkside"

Welcome to the forum Damon. Sorry, I watched EPI with an open mind, I wanted the PT to be as good as the OOT, sadly it is not (in my opinon). The magic just isn't there in the PT like it is with the OOT. Sorry I but I've got to call it as I see it. Although I will say EPIII was much, much, better than the first two(in the PT). I as well liked the line "So this is how liberty dies".

I...can't believe it! Someone actually doesn't like Empire Strikes Back?!? You have the right to your opinion, but.....why Anchorhead? why?
